My post was not to come up with was to fix the game. We all pretty much agree on the topics. My post is a question to how we get a large group of players to join. Staying is up to them, but as I said IN THE ORIGINAL POST, with a large enough number of newberries the proto would be offset. To them the protostyomping would be like running into the occasion MLG team They've already joined and gone pretty much. We've had the grand opening, I was there that day when we had almost 10k players. Slowly over time, all the potential players have come and gone and tried the game. Its done here, people are getting ps4's. 10k players out of how many millions of consoles? Pretty crap stats if you ask me

You must be new here or in denial. Every time a new console comes out, what happens?.
There were about 7 million ps4 owners about 2 months ago, there's now over 10 million.
Who in their right mind stays on a dying console, especially in a game that requires considerable time to fully enjoy?
No one.
All that matters now is a ps4 port so the game can grow properly. That or a PC port.
Matchmaking will boost the ps3 capability by 1000% and we can enjoy Dust for years to come......

As far as b*tching about people not reading the post, it was not directed at you as you seem to genuinely care about the future of Dust. I was complaining about people who were mentioning specific problems about the game.
Thanks
EDIT: I thought they just hit 20mil units sold

Oh right, I apologise.
Yes I do and I'm sick of seeing nerf and buff threads, like they even matter.
Its akin to the violin players on the Titanic going down but on a yatcht when they could easily jump on a cruiser lol.

20 mil now, damn.
Its only going to go up as well and even faster when the prices start going even lower.
I'm hoping we get told something at fan fest regarding dust.

If they announced a port to PS4 I think there would be plenty of people that would give Dust another shot.
With Valkerie already headed there I think there are things they could do to loosely connect the two. Valkerie is supposedly a 20 minutes a sitting type game and it should get a lot of advertising, those people are going to need something else to do! |

The problem is "how many people would move from the PS3 to the PS4?" It might just split the community even more. The people that would be most interested in playing would be EVE players based on them already having interest in the EVE universe. Logically, the PC would make more sense. Regardless, there are a whole hell of a lot more PS3's out there than PS4's. A Google search states that it is 10 million PS4's (as of 1/5/15) and 70 million PS3's (as of 11/16/12). People aren't playing DUST because it isn't on the newest system; people aren't playing DUST because the community is split, the game is not worth slogging through the crap in order to find the diamond, and the game is not well known. Dunno. Maybe, just maybe, we can get some nugget of information out of FanFest. But the last two FanFests and the last two EVE Vegas's have been a load of misinformation so the record is looking pretty strong... How many of those PS3's no longer get turned on because the owner now has a PS4? How many of those PS3's are broken? How many of those PS3's are owned by people who no longer game in general? It's a bad stat. We need stats on the active PS3 and PS4 player base.

If dust goes to PC, I'll play it. if it goes to PS4 I'll buy one and play it. they have years of testing information to draw from, they cant possibly make the next installment of the game worse

The Console trend has always been to change and i doubt it's stopping now with how much better the ps4 is than the ps3. It's inevitable. Even if they go to the xjoke one or the pc, they are still going.

If Dust goes to the PS4 and the newbs still get wasted after academy, they won't stay in the game.
If Dust goes to PC only, half the playerbase won't go there.
If Dust gets greenlit for PS4 AND the NPE gets better, we might see a steady rise in player numbers.
The NPE is the most important thing at all! I've created new characters recently, and the NPE after leaving the academy is horrid. It is no fun to get protostomped in pub matches over and over again, and that's with me knowing the maps and the mechanics inside out. Sure you can sit back and farm SP with links and a repper, but is that fun for somebody who expects to shoot stuff?
NO IT ISN'T!
So the only thing that will keep players in the game is FUN period! Which means that they have a newb playmode, exclusively for low SP Characters, which should be limited to level 4 stuff only.
If they want to duke it out with the lolvets, thy can join pubs, but if they get tired of the stomps, they can go back to their reservate low SP gamemode to catch a breath and have fun in this game.
Tiered games wont solve the issue, only seperation from the vats will help the NPE! |

It is the only reason why I wouldn't wish on anyone I even remotely sympathize with the grueling nightmare that is starting to play dust after the academy. It has always been the only issue. There is no other problem.
Implementing matchmaking is fixing Dust. Not implementing matchmaking is not fixing Dust. This is the truth. Yes mate, that would make the whole game brilliant and we can enjoy it for years to come. It would totally go places and everything we do would have lasting consequences. Matchmaking would boost the ps3 capability by 1000%. Thanks for inspiring my new sig lol.
No, but it would cut the attrition rate. If we could double the retention of new players then all the other changes needed start to make some economic sense to CCP. It is probably too late to change that now. Dust was in the PSN store as an exclusive, so many have already played and left that the remaining pool is too limited.
Because, that's why.

We had more people playing when there was no NPE btw.
You completely miss the issue. No amount of sticking feathers up your arse will make you a chicken.
People are not babies and do not need to be treated as such. Newbs are not little cute smurfs, they are people who want to kill others.
There were way more people playing when there was no NPE so it has nothing to do with it. Its because were on a console that is sht.
Please understand that.
