I'd love to see more ammo types implemented in game like we have in EVE. They could add a much deeper element to the game by forcing people to choose DPS over Range and the right ammo type for that job. We could also have Kinetic/Thermal/EMP/Explosive hardeners implemented for Armour/shields to add another layer of depth to the game that we have in EVE.
How about T2 or Faction Ammo too?....Forcing people to buy ammo will make them be a bit more sensible about how they use it too with things like the swarm launcher if its going to cost them 500isk per shot |

I'm not an EVE player wanted to get into it last year but my first born was on the way. So time wasn't afforded to me with all the games I already was playing. I did do research on the game back when I heard about dust back in 2010 and I would like to see different ammo types just like in EVE. |

It def add's a major strategic element to fights when you have to decide your ammo type prior to the engagement and then keep your enemies at that distance, lower DPS but longer ranges allows you to kite your enemies for example but higer DPS lower range requires more of a tank.
It would be nice to see that brought into Dust. Whats the point having all those different ammo types for each gun in eve if we cant use smaller, similar stuff in dust? |

i am unsure about ammo types such as the 4 in eve em thermal ect. but ammo types that affect range damage, accuracy would be great. |

i would also like to see ammo types for many of the weapons, as previously mentioned there are dozens of ammo types in EVE. its kinda funny that in eve and dust every action affects the economy and you have to buy all that you need, except ammo which is infinate and free. surely if each player had to buy and manage there ammo it would aid the economy. |

ammo types would be good to see, i can imagine explosive rounds would be effective against armour and emp rounds would be good for shields |

i supose a down side would be that in EVE you can have muliple ammo types in your cargo hold and make the decision in combat, whereas in dust you would have to select your ammo during dropsuit fitting, either between matches or at a supply point ingame. |

never thought about the econimic side of this, eve players having to manufacture ammo and ship it out to us, i see dust players burning though more ammo in a week than eve players use in a month when this game launches. but i would still like specilized ammo, but in my early suggestion like i said it could only affect range damage amount, accuracy and things like that no need to get into the 4 damage types, however damage specificaly for someones shield or armor might not be to bad so long as it does some damage to the other type. |

This is all good and i really like the idea but would make the nano hives a bit over powered or useless as you only have two options allow nano hives to restock even the most expensive ammo while your in the field or only let them restock a basic ammo type at which it becomes useless once players have enough cash to buy enough ammo to be happy.
A different option might be to have ammo modules which converts a suits ammo to a particular type and if you have multiple ammo modules installed you can change your ammo as needed in battle through the item selection window.
edit - this way you don't have to worry about buying every last bullet those heavy machine guns go through but still get the customization and economy side of ammo use. |

We already have different types of ammo. They're in the different types of guns. And the ammo isn't free either. Comes in a pack with each gun you buy. And included in the cost of nanohives and Supply Points. That's how I view it, at least. |

How I understand it we are shooting plasma contained in premaded cases, which explains the need for mags, the diffrent ammo types could be explained by diffrent casing shapes and the nanohives just refill the plasma which is how they able to resupply everything already. |

the nano hive and supply depot use nano technology to fabricate the munitions required at no actual cost to the player, for standard ammo this is not an issue. but what i mean is speciallity ammo types that you buy from the market, a nano hive or supply depot would only supply the ammo type you started the match with and only if you have enough of that type avaliable. if you use the change dropsuit feature of the supply depot you will get what ever you selected again only if there is enough in your assets inventory.
hopefully with the supply depot able to resock specialty ammo and change loadouts the clowns will not blow them up as often. |

Personally I think that an ammo system like that of EVE would add unnecessary complexity to the game where it's not needed. |

the added complexity of ammo types would surely be a good thing, giving players even more control over exactly how they play, after all Dust 514 is one of the most complex and ambitious games in recent years, being linked to EVE does translate as a good probability to see a great many of EVEs most sucessful features. |

there are all kinds of round in RL each one with diffrent pupose, besides you would still have the standard issue but lets say your love your gun but it dosnt do quite enough damage so you swap up what ammo you use and increase the damage at the cost of RoF or mag size. lets say you had an enemy corp who was well known to shield tank their stuff you could buy round built to eat though shields before the match started, also they could make another section in the resupply section so you could change ammo types to another one you own. |

definately, there is also more options for teamwork, if you have ammo strongest against shields and your teammate has AP ammo, that corps tanks are going down.

Funny ... taking out the supply points on the map is a form of logistical disruption. I blow tim up if it will hamper the effectiveness of the OPFOR. |

From what we know currently there is no plans to introduce different ammunitions. Specific weapons will have set damage types which will be more effective or less effective to certain resistances. Damage types will vary based on weapons themselves rather than ammo. |

The basic idea is a good one for future patches. i dont think adding type specific damage and tanking is a good idea, we dont have enough mod slots for kin resist mods and thermal resist mods. however, one ammo type vs all shields and another for all armor might be interesting. But this is needs to be very nicely done so that it adds to the game instead of taking away from it. |

I agree with armour vs shield (kin vs emp) ammo, and possibly dmg vs range. The resistance mods in the game now work like Invuln mods in eve, IE across the board protection. The only use I can see for the 4 ammo type would be for weapon descriptions. |

I believe they would have different ammo types. Maybe in the form of the gun itself rather than purchasing and equipping the ammo.
As it stands, theres no REAL reason why we should opt for ARMOR based tanking than Shield tanking. Most often than not, people opt for shields cause getting more armor = becoming slower. Not to mention you need to equip armor repairer unlike in shield regen (automatic/no modules needed).
Having a gun/ammo that deals more damage against shields would make ARMOR tanking more viable.
Applying this feature would make the game more versatile instead of linear where people get ALL shields, use a creadon breach and what not. More thoughts would be put into every dropsuit in every game. |

With a repair gun, you can help someone tank pretty well. I don't remember the repair rate, but it's pretty fast. |

or when ya open your item screen
see those little boxes
thats where the ammo could go
if you select a type you have to go thru a reload animation :)
and obviously the ammo would effect your cpu/pg |

Why would ammo have to use cpu/pg? Are you plugging your charged plasma rounds into your dropsuit's cpu? This idea doesn't really make much sense. |

I think the whole reason why we dont have ammo types yet is becuase not everyone has sysmetry yet, There isnt an AK 47,000, a laser rifle or the gauss rifel yet for the assault rifle standard issue. No blaster pistols, no beam cannons, no man portable artillery cannon the list goes on, until we have all the sysmetry into the game I dont expect to see ammo.
Also I think it will be kept simplified between shield and amror damage. So if they ever introduce it, it will be more of a range choice vs damage choice. |

seeing how your rifle takes up CPU is it plugged into your suit?
if my rifle can shoot different ammo types then it would take some sort of power to be able to fire them (if your weapon is connected to your suit)
it adds to the MMO aspect of the game
and makes it alot deeper (suit customization) |
