Said a bit differently, while playing the game (i.e. not looking at your suits), there is virtually no difference in game performance (i.e. frame rate) between the two.
Said even more directly: The game isn't reading disk much during a battle, and thus any performance gains are minimal.
Loading the game? Sure! Moving between your quarters and the warbarge? Absolutely. In the battle? Not as best as I can tell -- outside of the time of initial rendering of certain sockets which doesn't affect game play one iota.
If you have direct experience to the contrary, I'm all ears!
Why the eye roll? Not completely accurate. The ps3 only has 256mb of ram and 256mb of vram, developers tend to use a larg pagefile on the hard drive to compensate, and this gives the SSD a noticeable advantage in high lag situations. Changing only the hard drive, performance changes almost night and day between the two on the underground depot map.
Lag is network based, not PS3 performance based. So perhaps you meant to say "slow framerate situations" instead of "high lag"?
And FWIW, the performance on the Gallente Lag Facility didn't change much for me outside the initial loading of the socket -- performance is still spotty for both SSD and non-SSD players as best as I can tell. What's worse is that it often changes if you go outside and then back into the city for some odd reason...for both SSD and non-SSD PS3s.
What led you to say the difference in performance is "almost night and day", because I didn't notice anything outside of initial rendering/loading of the socket. Once it's loaded it seems to preform the same regardless of if you have a SSD or not...but perhaps I need to play around some more as it's been a while since I popped the HD back into my PS3.

Carry a proto needle and rep hives. Set up shop on a point with a heavy and defend. Everyone says the amarr is the most assault-like, but I would have to go with the caldari. The thing that hurts the cal is the nerf they recieved many moons ago. They are not the slayers they once were.

jane stalin wrote:My question is "Sometimes my level 5 amarr plays a big role in winning the match when it puts an uplink in the right spot, Is there any way to use the caldari bonus just as effectively?" amarr excels because you only really need to put one link down at a time, and by the time it's destroyed or depleted you will already have cycled your team through to help capture/defend the point or whatever you are trying to do. logis also need to kill things, and having the ability to use a alpha damage light like a plc, or a AoE wep like a mass driver, or AV, then switch to sidearm is straight up good. cal is extremely situational. best map for it is meat grinder because there is a depot nearby, or 50 clone ambush when you know it's going to be a zerg.
i'm lazy so i'll paste what i was saying recently about cal logi: "cal logi is underpowered for many reasons, and i'm sure if ccp showed us the numbers on how many people use them they would be shockingly low.
in order to run cal logi at it's max potential you have to do a couple things. 1 is run it proto in order to get the 3 equipment slots. 2 run a cpu upgrade, which makes the 5 highs and 4 lows worthless because ultimately you have the same eHP as everyone else, but with less regen, damp, stam, speed.
because of the cal logi's bonus (which is an awesome one) 2 of your equipment slots will be dedicated to various hives, making you lose out on a needle, uplink, or scanner as the other one should be a repper. problem is there is very few maps/situations where hives will stay out long enough to benefit the team. i would say the best use for a cal logi is just run proto hives in all slots, drop them then switch out to another 32 BW logi/cal logi with repper, needle, scanner or hive
because of how easy it is to destroy hives and the other problems stated above, cal logi is the absolute worse logi for PC." |

@ hold that, I run logi's and just wanted to correct the running Cal Logi proto for 3 equipment slot thing. The advanced Cal Logi has 3 equipment slots also, good info tho :)

I know your not asking me but , I like to defend my links that I place and also check the points to keep them current and kept up where pressure is constant .
I can't just lay links and leave them exposed because I feel like the troops spawning there are my personal responsibility because I placed the links there but if I see the other team is not fielding any air support I get on the ground but while they fly and I have links , I fly too just to protect my troops and links .
Doubts are like flies and should be treated as such and crushed .
