So I finally logged all of my weapon assets before claiming the production from my lab since it doesn't tell you what you get.
This test is after putting around 50,000 components into the Warbarge to get it to Level 5 with the lab at Level 2.
Cost to claim: 103 Components (309 AUR if you are short on components)
What was produced?: 1 Standard AV Nade
Yep, one standard nade after investing over 150 days worth of components if you were to generate it with just the barge's factory at lvl 2. This kind of outcome after this kind of investment is unacceptable. The RNG for the lab needs to go. At the very least the loot tables have to be dramatically improved.

Rattati has stated that leveling up the lab increases the metalevel of items produced. So, obviously, the first couple of levels will only produce militia and standard crap. So, bad design, yes, but hardly surprising. But, yeah... even disgarding the upgrade costs... 309 aur worth of components to claim a standard grenade? Yeaaaaaah... sounds about right.
Have you considered installing the improved keyboard?

I'm kind of surprised. I don't have a PS3 anymore to check any of this out but I always got the impression that the warbarge was supposed to spit out 1 experimental weapon per day?

Lmao I swear CCP is trolling ppl at this point. The fact you need to use components to claim your weapon only adds to the lol factor. And you cant control your own manufacturing?
I can definitely see why this feature has so many people salty.

Supposedly this isn't until L4 and officer isn't until L5.
With this type of investment it should provide at the very least proto level gear at L1 go up from there.

Otherwise the lab's existence is not justified.

I really wish the lab worked like a factory in Star Wars Commander (sci-fi clash of clans). I pick what I want to make and the higher tier it is the more time it takes. Instead of forcing people to use components to claim allow them to use components to speed up the manufacturing. A higher level lab makes it take less time to make an item and/or allow you to queue more than more item to be built.

This was so that new players can use it as well. Not everyone has skills to level 1 specialization in weapons.
Getting a guaranteed officer weapon every day, does seem quite OP. This was all explained in the original thread, as well as the lab that would allow you to convert a random officer weapon into a officer weapon you wanted.

Instead of RNG make the officer weapons cost more resources and time to make. Maybe an officer weapon takes X days to make etc. RNG is making me hate this game .
Also, by the time someone can get to a lab with the time scale you have on the barge upgrades players will have some weapon up to proto. Getting a higher end weapon means that player can sell it and buy several standard items as well. With the sell back feature and the ability to send items to other players getting 1 standard weapon is a joke. I feel like I've wasted a lot of money at this point.

Well then, it shouldn't cost 103 components to claim a level 1 lab result then.
More like 3 than 103.

What if...
Producing weapons was like T2 BPCs in Eve (more or less) where you told it what you want and there was a chance for it to come out? To further balance, it could be programmed to "build proto Assault Rifles", and not only have a chance to build a proto rifle, but different variants as well, including officer gear (perhaps a small chance of a lower tier one as well).

I 100% agree, and it is a bug. The price was supposed to be something like 10 or 20 I believe. We would have fixed that in yesterdays fix if I had known.

Think it'll be better when and if we have simple crafting. In which case the Experimental Lab can produce Weapon Components or something and then we select what power level of gear to craft with adjusted amounts based on meta level or something.
Just an idea though.
Have a suggestion for the Planetary Services Department?

I would much prefer something like this or the lab be where crafting occurs and the level of the lab somehow affects how efficiently you craft items. I want to determine what I make at the end of the day. I'm willing to have to provide resources equivalent to what I'm making.

This was all explained in the original thread, as well as the lab that would allow you to convert a random officer weapon into a officer weapon you wanted. Isn't this why we have boxes? Those boxes would be able to produce much more than one. Something that is mass-produced by corporations isn't experimental, either.
Perhaps, a new warbarge module or whatever is needed to produce solely "new player stuff" as well as having the experimental lab.
Also, let players be able to customize their warbarges in any way they'd like. This way, both the new players and the vets can profit from it. |
