Oh yeah another issue you will end up facing is people who care about their k/d.
These people will sit in a base in the hundreds while its getting capped and will just try to score kills from inside the base from behind the force fields. They wil do this knowing that in roughly 2 mins tops, the enemy are going to come storming through every door in the base and kill everyone in there but they don't care so long as they can get a few free kills nice and safe and pad teir k/d. Rather than all keep storming the objectives to uncap and defend the base, they do that instead.
Defo join or make an outfit guys soo you don't have to deal with any of 'The Zergs' bs.
There are different kinds of bases that are generally capped certain ways and people need to know what their role will do best depending on the base. I cba to go into that anyway.
I'd suggest you all run medic or engineer to farm certs for what you want. 'The zerg' is good for farming certs and you can repair and resupply the k/d padding maxes in bases and repair turrets for certs as well.
Trust me the game changes when you join a decent outfit but i think the quality of play on the ps4 won't really pick up for about a year, maybe a bit less until people know exactly what they are doing and know how to play the classes properly. The more people care about their k/d though the more arsrped your faction will get in general.

Planetside 2 will make sht loads of money and no investment firm is going to scrap or do away with a game that has no rival in scale. It has and dominates that area and the only potential rival right now is warhammer 40k eternal crusade which will be ps2 basically but 40k and to be fair, much better in many rspects with depth on many levels.
I wouldn't worry about anything for about 2-4 years to be realistic and if they do shhaft the ps4 version then oh well, welcome to the pc master race version. Watch warhammer eternal crusade though, it will use some very high tech server sht that auto shifts nodes to compensate. It will be one server for all and the hardware is nothing short of beast mode high tech.
Pikkotech is the hardware if i remember correctly.

On pc, not that bad, it happens.
On ps4 i don't know but i can imagine it might be quite bad lol.
The worst thing anyone can do is get butthurt and come back and kill whoever killed them though, you just have to deal with it when it happens.

It happens, you shouldn't really tk because someone killed a buddy, it happens and when the game goes live and you have hundreds of people all firing and fighting in a small space, it does happen a fair bit with newbs and you are all newbs on the ps4 unless you have prior pc experience.
You have not seen the horror of inter outfit platoon fighting that gets started from one incident of tk that snowballs lol.

Yeah, I have TKd accidentally at least twice. The first time, was an assault rifle, so I didn't get warned in time for me to stop firing.
Second was on a knifing. I hit him once and waited, nothing. So I hit him a second time. Nothing. Ran on. Apparently there was a lot of lag because about 10 seconds later I get the verbal warning about griefing.

yea this rampant farming of kills is going on mostly right now because we're not organized on the beta.. the comms do not seem to be always working right and your automatically squadded with randoms.. last night my random squad was all letting me transport them with the galaxy so i added them all to friends.. that was the first step in organization.. now we need someone that is more sober than me to give the bigger orders..
i think in time these FCs will step up.. right now tho it's mostly just a massive zerg. i think most players are hungry for leadership, they want to take good orders but the easiest option right now really is to zerg.. it helps tho to have a lot of gun game skill to lead the troops from the front.. my gun game has corroded over he last couple of years..
my main concern is getting that polished.. strangely my air game takes little to no maintenance to stay sharp. my galaxy transport ship is badass i got the passive repair and bulldog 60mm turret.. i'm going to upgrade the MGs on it soon.. i seem to be the only one contour flying the galaxy right now. my average cruising altitude is like 15m.. the Valkrie is so badass also.. can't wait to level that up. we were dogfighting with it.. it's like an ADS except it's single nose turret requires a gunner. |

Yeah i can imagine. All the newbis and including myself when i started are desperate to get what they want so they farm with engi or medic. They are more cncerned with getting their goodies and i can't blame them really. The grind is pretty harsh for higher tier stuff innit.
For your galaxy i would suggest the walkers first if your going as transport as you'll be needing the AA desperately when people start flying well.
My galaxy is the nanite repair and fire suppression. Fire suppression maxed is 10% health quickly and puts out the fire which is really handy and for the airframe i have the one that improves V-thrust as you can put your nose down and gain a lot of extra speed. Always tilt your galaxy in a manner that all guns can get shots on and fly at an angle so all your turrets can fire. If your're getting attacked from air targets then pitch at any angle thats lets as many turretsget shots on as possible because you won't outrun them or fly over firendlies and they soon back off. Oh and make sure you're flying as an engi so you can repair your plane by landing quick if needed.
I don't mean to patronise, i jst care that people get clued up as much as possible. I can imagine that things are going to be a bit of a pain on the ps4 without teamspeak and the ease of using the ui with a mouse and keyboard though.
Leadership in ps2 it's best to not really be too close to the very front of things as you're no good if you die and don't fuly know what is going on. Gal pilots are always a necessity and when attacking bases, it is a good idea to have squads attacking on two or three fronts depending on the enemy numbers (a massive organised zerg is always tasty though lol). Ultimately the main thing that people are going to have to really get used to is dropping the end match scoreboard mentality to really excel. Dying is very common in ps2 as you have probably already found out and k/d and stats couldn't matter any less in ps2.
I love flying the gal as well. I have most things certed to a high standard and i kind of cheated by buying all the guns and turrets i want lol. I expect that dusters are really going to excel in ps2 with playing roles and organisation, like a diamond in the rough.

When things get locked in hour long gunfights and it wears thin, load up a gal with heavy assaults and have them all drop on the enemy sunderers once located and they will blow it up very quickly but they have to be prepared to die lol.
Gal drops although almost suicidal are devasting to the opposition once you know where the enemy sunderers are.
Another thing Goon Brigade likes to do is to find on every front where the enemy sunderers are and systematically take thm all out via gal drops and heavy assaults. Within 20 mins TR will push forward. This may need to be done a lot but it is affective as fk lol, so many vs and nc tears.
There's also the light assault c4 fairy swarm (which gets you auto kicked from the outfit for faggery in Goon). Have as many light assaults with c4 as you can jet pack over the enemy and rain c4 lol - Most despised tactic in ps2 next to jet ramming.

I've had a lot of coffee so fk it i'll show some good loadouts as well.
HEAVY ASSAULT
Resistance shield and shield capacitor - The resistance shield provides a flat resistance to your shields and hp and has long up times without being dpleted from damage. The shield capacitor at max reduces your shield delay by 4 seconds which means you only have to wait 4 or 5 until it kicks in. The nanoweave does not stack wit hthe shield (very common wuestion asked by newbis).
Health kit - Doesn't need explaining lol
Carv 9 lmg - beasty gun, fit a medium range scope on this and a foregrip to negate some of that nasty horizontal recoil. Alternatively use the minigun for cqc because who the fk doesn't like mniguns lol. Fit the quick spool time on the minigun for much faster application of dps.
The Repeater pistol - This thing with a laser to reduce hip fire spread is a fking monster when you master it. There is also the commissioner for masive alpha dps.
Striker rocket launcher - Not so good damage but is very versatile. The rockets auto lock onto enemy aircraft if they are close and when two people have one of these it does wreck anything (seeing 15 people fire these is insane lol).
Whatever tickles your fancy for grenades.
For cqc swap the resist shield for the nanite mesh generator as cqc nothing will allow you to live very long and it basically eats a few rounds and lets you know you're getting shot, think burst tanking. Also swap the capacitor with nanoweave for cqc as you'll need the straight resistance for you're hp.
ENGINEER
This is quite straight forward really
Flak for long range combat as you'll be under a lot of explosive fire and nanoweave for cqc but flak can also be very good there as well. Flak is better if you're max repairing as people will be firing rockets at that for sure.
Max out your rep tool and go to level 4 with ammo box until you're out of things to cert up as the gain is not much as you have prbably seen yourself.
For the turret unlock level 1 of the anti infantry one as it is actually more useful for a decoy, to place a small shield or to semi block of a doorway and shield yourself and others. The av turret is very useful itself and can almost two shot tanks in the rear lol.
Repeater pistol and always have this with the setup i said. It is a monster when you get good with it.
Armistice smg - Laser attachment, reflex site of choice and compensator. This thing is a fking beast in cqc with no need to even ads out to about 30 metres.
Trac5S - Get the underbarrel grenade launcher and smoke launcher with a site of your choice. This is gun is good for it's versatility.
Shotgun - What ever one you want with extended mag and site of choice.
Tank mines for utiltiy. So long as you put these in high traffic areas smartly, you will get kills even if its an hour later. Swap them for claymores when assaulting bases.
MEDIC
Some people prefer the shield capacitor as you can heal yourself anyway, others prefer nanoweave. That's all preference.
For long range combat use the deployable shield capacitor thing as people will be ducking in and out of cover but for cqc the aoe heal is better.
Max your heal tool (obviously lol).
Revive grenades or heal grenades, both are good really but i prefer revive.
TR cycler - Have this thing with a site of choice and the foregrip to negate the nasty horizontal drfit when firing. It is a cqc beast but you can use the armistice on any class as it's an NS (new sovereignty) weapon as well.
Whatever utility you want
INFILTRATOR
This class is pretty much whatever but the stalker cloak only allows the use of a sidearm. Generally i find it's good to use the deployable motion sensor in bases and the motion darts for outside but that's all preference. The class is generally completely whatever anyone wants really as a skilled infi is a beast.
You defo want to get hacking maxed though. This is more useful than i cba to comment about.
LIGHT ASSAULT
Max them jets, whichever one you want.
Nanoweave or shield capacitor are the best really but grenade bandolier is really good for raining some grenades on people.
C4 - I hate LA's wiith this but it's a must on the class really.
Shotguns and smg's are you friend and you can also get the trac5 S on this as well with the underbarrel options.
MAX
Flak is the best if you're getting a dedicated engi as people will fire rockets and throw grenades a you often. If you don't and think you won't get much reps then kinetic armour is the best as you get shot more often by regular small arms. Nanite regen is pointless as you'll never go too long without and engi and you die too quick with it for it to be worth having.
AA setup - Get a setup with two burster flak cannons and have the quick burst sprint perk to get around quicker.
AI setup - Get whatever two guns you want really but the two mini grenade laucnhers are a beast once you get the hang of them. Use the lockdown perk with this to annihilate sht lol.
It is all preference at the end of the day but these fits are generally a beast and contain the stuff you'll want to cert up first. I could have linked you some vids but those do not cover everything and you'll spend hours watching them all.

Checked into PS2 yesterday UTC, on PC. Then I am reading these forums and someone mentions PS4. Oh right, that is why the posts all seemed like out in the twilight zone. They sound like a completely different game. Nope, just more people that haven't been playing it all that long.
Today my first char (oops, toon) stepped out of the spawn pod walked to the force field and looked around. A VS sniper was hacking the vehicle terminal. Six or seven rounds and the engineer scores a kill. Very funny.
Anyway, still very playable on the PC. We don't seem to be low on available players and I played a few hours before real life called. My VS char was involved in a couple hundred player battle. Fun to watch the front move between the two facilities. Flanking maneuvers, end runs and then the fighters and gunships get into the action.
Maybe this summer I can get a PS4 and rejoin my PS3 friends. Sigh.
And to the Dusters playing PS2, I am thinking about you. Have a good time.
My favorite tank is a Lightning. Just sayin.

nah bro i wasnt feeling patronized at all.. when i cant play PS2 i like to read and write about it.. i totally get what your saying about flying the gal at proper angles which dust has already taught me to do.. because i'm looking at my gunners angle of his gun i adjust course if he is straining to turn the gun.. that %10 sounds really awesome..
i was feeling really bummed at last night because my sqaud was total trash just 12 guys scattered like salt and pepper thrown on a plate.. i lost many gals and valkries trying to pick them up, no one was on comms and they fking idiots.. they we running to the next complex and just being noobs in general....
i tried for hours to pick troops up and without comms or any sort of order it was pretty fail. the other factions seemed like they were co oping.. i can already land the gal and valkrie right in the middle of a complex, if i was actually working with MAXes on comms we could have done something besides loose ships that i would over extend trying to hard to pick up randoms..
the comms are sht right now and dont make any sense at all.. sometimes they randomly "work" but the channel is usually random.. compound that with the fact that out of 12 random ppl you usually get a mouth breather, a baby crying and dog barking but not a single tactic ran all day except some guy in a whiny voice saying "come on guys fight hard and defend the base".. that was his only "command" |

Yeah that just sounds like a whole load of painfully Rtarded sht and i can imagine lol. You will have to deal with that for a while i think but when it goes live then more pc vets will join and organise stuff more and more people will know what they are doing by then.
The zerg always follows the missions as you have probably seen. The general rule of thumb is that you farm the zerg for certs and then when you get in or create a decent outfit then you can do the more operational stuff that actually makes an impact. It's defo going to take a while for the quality of play on the ps4 to pick up. You might be better off hot dropping people on objectives and then flying to the bases behind the ones being defended or getting attacked that TR, picking up more and doing it over and over until things get better. You will love it when you have wing men with you as well and 3 gals with walkers is like a flying fortress all on its own with the bulldogs smashing ground forces.

like 3 days ago i somehow got a random bunch of gunners who were shooting down 3 reavers trying to attack us and he also shot down a couple from my valkire.. i try to make a pass to nearby bases to see if any stragglers need a ride to the front, hoping to pick up a bulldog gunner.. but most of the time they're too noob to switch turrets so the bulldog remains empty... it really gets furstrating but i know it will be way easier once we are on comms and working together.. i wont have to guess as much for a safe spot to land or try so hard to get them to notice me. i lowered my sensitivity and my gun games slowly coming back.. the trac 5 bucks like a mule so i stopped trying to use it at range.. it's funny i kill NC pretty easily but seem to have trouble vs VS |

Hahaha.
Yes mate, that's because all the vs stuff is really really easy to use so they tend to be hard. They deny it all the way even though most people have a vs alt for easy mode.
TR - Dps
NC -- Alpha dps
VS - Accuracy and lots of splash weapons and ease of use.
They are all good though but vs is the easiest to use by far. I have an alt and their guns work really well with no certs invested whatsoever but they do have a lack of variety.
The Trac5-S is the one with underbarrel choices btw and theres a carbine variant for the medic. It's more of a squad weapon really.
Just don't let the Vs get to you, they are weak willed people who gravitate towards them i have found.
The tking and idiocy in NC is generally too damn high!.
TR is defo the most professional and the better types of people tend to gravitate towards them i have found. I have an alt in all 3 but TR is main like 99% of the time.

I'm on the same page as you. **** consoles. PC does it all better and I want a good one! But I hear it might be cheaper to get the good sent out from the US and build them up over here in NZ.
Only reasons I'm Vanu are

oh man im so raging.. there is a C point small building in the corner of the complex were capping.. 100m from that is an easy run from the sunderer across a bridge and instead gaining defense points they are running around like wild chickens, some are just camping by that sunderer instead of crossing the bridge to defend the point that the NC is lightly interested in.. I've been defending this point for like 30 minutes but even our maxes are retrded and running around outside of the point and everyone is just running in circles. the point is just a square building with 3 entrances, i can only guard 2.. it is seriously full retrd mode right now. |

lol we just lost the facility..
i like how you get points for just defending a point, just by being there.. there are enough players for some to defend while others are pushing.. there doesn't seem to be a red headed step child that gets penalyzed with a small kid size dish of SP for doing something different.. everyone gets good XP for doing something.. the ones pushing i think get a big burst of bonus of XP win they cap but the ones defending get around the same amount over time.. i dunno w/e there doing is pretty sick tho..
ahhh i love the use of a decoy i'm using my turret to distract them when they enter.. the ploy only last so long tho then they bring back 5 guys and just take the point again because the noobs wont defend.. lol they set up a camp by the sunderer instead.. i really need those claymores unlocked then i can guard 3 entrances.. our maxes were a joke
yea this is just a total sht storm.. i sure hope they add txt chat
ya i'm done flying a galaxy for now.. this random gunner crap not working out.. i did manage to ram a scythe who tried to come to a complete stop 20m in front of my gal, it gave me like almost 500 XP.. like a C-130 ramming a fast bird helicopter
all these noobs have the patience of a freakn goat.. ugh god.. i could bash my head into the screen at the travesty of no one knowing what to do.. like wild chickens and monkeys just zerging from the spawn strraight into a meat grinder.. when that doesnt work they just do it again.
i hate my life and 16 hours sever maintenance.. i need to farm more certs
They will soon learn when the game goes live, they will get owned over and over and over again trust me. They will be the twats asking for nerfs on the forums and stuff as well. Don't worry it will get better as a lot of people from the pc version are going to play the ps4 version as well so there should be quite a few making or joining outfits on pretty much every server.
It does seem like they are running around looking for kills impatiently rather than playing their roles as if it's cod or something. It does have a fairly short TTK but people who sprint around like that die all the time and will soon learn. They will literally either get witth the program when it goes live or get sick of getting owned base after base and just quit the game, i wouldn't worry about it.

All you have to do to do well as a leader in ps2 in to think a bit more 3 dimensionally than just attacking one base at once and head on at that. Not that i think that's how you think but quite clearly you don't.
Let's say you're attacking a base and it's one with power generators. Ideally you want a gal with say 6 engis to hot drop with ha escort onto each generator. You want another gal willed with ha's, light assaults, medics and maxes for combat troops (fodder basically) to drop into the base. You want 2 sunderers to sit outside with a prowler each for escort, some harrassers to draw fire and maybe some air support as well. Sticking a squad of infis in somehwere is always good as well.
That kind of stuff.
Or maybe you want to go a bit further and attack two bases at once?. Maybe you can do what i had the pleasure of doing once where you have two lots of 40 people attacking on two different continents if you feel like challenging yourself but that requires a sht load of communication lol. Being a good leader in ps2 as well requires you look at the map often to check on numbers and where they are moving and mozzy or valk pilots as recon for intel are great as well, 4 engis in a valk repping it is really good for that.
When it goes live and if you decide to make an outfit, you'll get the numbers then but right now it's closed beta so you're kind of stuck with what there is, no choice really. :(

Oh and for 'tower' bases, light assaults with c4 and grenades cause havok proper. Infis are always good but the players themselves tend to be sht and kind of waste their potential. You want the la's to basically kill and force everyone into the spawn room so you can cap the base.
Snipers in ps2 are only useful if a player is getting kills every other second really. Because of the volume of people and respawns, they don't actually do anything really but they always swear blind their useful but they really are not.
Ultimately as you know, you're only as good a leader as the team you're leading and you need to abolutely make sure that the people you get involved with do not care about k/d or it flops. When everyone stops caring aout k/d, you win more and actually end up doing better, everyone does becasue everyone is on point and willing to go the extra mile and everyone ends up getting a better k/d from it. It's when people care about stats and k/d in ps2 that it has a knock on effect and ends up being epic fail.

Ah and the people you deisgnate as squad lead, if they don't have the leadership certs into the squad beacon then they're no good. Also invest in the command channel which is 100 certs to coordinate with other leaders but you will get self entitled halfwits who have simply gotten the channel who feel entitled to tell people what to do when they don't know sht.
I know i've not played the ps4 version but it's still the same game and people are people so i expect the same kind of trends that occur on the pc.

I expect dusters to excel and have a better understanding of roles than most as well as dust has a very unique class based system. I am petitioning for dust to be on ps4 in feedback which i need to bummp actually lol.
