Woa woa, lets not be fudging douchebags here. PS2 is a complete game. The developers have put time and effort into it. It is moving into PS4. Check Wrel videos and stuff. They are pretty good.
We are better than that. We just dont say "Yea thats **** because it aint Dust". Lets not be that peeps.
I personally feel, apart from my comment above about "meaningful interactions" that Dust feels more "down to earth". In PS2 and other FPS, your character is ******* bouncing and jumping like in .5 Gravity or had an exosuit. Dust feels more bound to the ground, like RL (Play paintball and see if you jump that much and run that fast after 5 minutes).
It is a matter of taste, but lets not forget the facts and lets be with the side of justice, not emotions and passionate, unfactfull arguments.

There's a big difference between them, especially with regards to the typical fight.

Can't you just create a new PSN account in the US region? Can't remember who but someone said they were thinking of doing that.

I remember playing Destiny beta with Jenza, and we both commented how it was nothing close to the Dust killer people supposed it would be. It was an alrght game, but its bored me now.
As for Planetside 2 on PS4. Holy hell its fun. You can tell they have spent a lot of time using refinement from the PC version for balance and tried to work it for console. Already they have a patch landing soon that adds a lot of fixes people have reported, along with new content. You know, not wait months for fixes like some games... >.> Feel free to add and play with me! PSN is pirateFinn |

I think the hype freight train behind it swept people up as a whole, rather than just those wanting a Dust-like game. Well, I suppose Planetside 2 is the best we'll get for now, seeing as Legion is now cutting the link to EVE, so whatever made Dust so special has been basically lost. |

Was highly confused. Need to get this thing figured out. It can be quite complex admittedly. The thing to remember is you can be killed by nearly every fit out there. Snipers are indeed OHK. Vehicles are okay at basic levels but do require some Certs to get better weapons and armor. Normal FPS stuff.
If you have anything in particular give me a ping and I will try to head you in the correct direction. Not that I am super PS2 player and I haven't gotten a PS4 yet either. So my experience is still restricted to PC and grumbling about fixed incomes. I mean, I put the PS4 on my Xmas wish list and nothing happened!
Good Luck.

Is anyone else finding PS2 a little lacking in direction?
Missions basically seem pointless.
In every other game I have played, there has been some sort of stated goal, which I have yet to find.
Its like the missions are "Attack This" and "Defend That" which mostly feel like moving the battle from one location to another with no indication of what I need to do other than shoot at things that are not on my team.
This afternoon, it just felt like I went from one place to another, and while a lot of things are fun and smooth (not the control scheme however), it feels directionless and goalless which really puts a dampner on everything.
Even with Dust I could fairly quickly understand what the objectives were and what kind of progress I was making...

i'm having a blast flying the galaxy. it flies like a injured whale but dam those things are tuff.. it's so strange not having to fly in a box and not worry about SL.. me and this random gunner kept one alive for about an hour before server maintenance went down.. he shot down all kinds of fighters chasing us.. you actually get rewarded good points for flying.. i'm trying to unlock the 60mm turret.. it get's really fun when the galaxy fills up.
i thought the aim and controls were very smooth.. it feels like battlefield and the Terran Republic weapons feel like BF weps.. the jetpack is awesome.. i seen regynum running TR.
the point of the missions i think is your getting bonus points.. PS has always been about farming kills to unlock stuff. there's moments of pure WTF tho that is worth the redundancy.. the air game is awesome for any dust pilot wondering, it's kinda as hard as dust but it's not hard to hover.. theres things from dust that transfer over like you use terrain and buildings for cover.. dust pilots already have an eye for safe spots to bail to and understand contour flying..
the other thing that is a huuuuge monkey off a pilots back is there's no null cannon missiles, RDVs, and there's no automated large turrets.. after getting the hang of the controls flying the galaxy became easy mode compared to dust. once i get the 60mm turret the farm is on. |

Yet that is the whole point of PS2. Tebow just mentioned, "its about the kills". I think that is good but EVE and DUST has much more going on.
I don't know how I feel now. Lets see what happens at Fanfest.

Eh the thing about Dust is that its "Goal" are merely determined by the nature of the game mode.
Skirmish= "Go there and capture that. Repeat" Domination = "Go there and defend that." Ambush= "Kill"
These are not special goals they are really basic and quite frankly boring and over used FPS clich+¬s. Not saying PS2 ius better or worse but you are fundamentally doing the same stuff on bigger and more impressive maps with more balanced guns and gear, and vehicles that ideally appear to be worth driving.
Sadly Dust does not actually have more going on. Pub matches are not worth the time it takes to queue for them. PC is very limited and without a vast number of merits, and FW simply is in disrepair.

@ True
Its odd how much a difference those goals make, at least for me.
I play differently (or at least should if I don't always) in each game mode depending on what that is and how the match plays out.
Maybe its because I am so new to PS2, but I couldn't for the life of me figure it out. It tells me to attack a base, and I go there and kill some people, but I don't know what the objective is other than that. What constitutes a captured base?
Same with defending. I kept hearing how our generators were destroyed, but had zero idea where they were, how to defend them, if it was possible to fix them etc.
I just felt directionless.

I find those lacking in Dust....but as soon as you put me on an Asymmetric CSGO map its full on hyper competitive mode (even though I'm kinda new to PC gaming) partly what I am disappointed in Dust for is that I expected them to give us those goals but let us loose to achieve them however we felt.
If that mean bringing 30 people to the fight against 5 others so be it.
Honestly I don't care about ******* MCC's they mean nothing to me. I care about the worlds we fight on being consistent with their moods, I care about the cities and the fortresses.....not cargo hubs at the arse end of nowhere.
I wish we had agency but we don't.
It's one thing to establish that your player base is within an outlined box its not to pretend like there is a sandbox when there clearly is not.

i kinda feel the same way but i know within time the complexes will begin to feel familiar to me.. there are like computer terminal that you stand near to cap and you get xp.. some of the fights in the complex are totally remeniscent of mag.. i saw the NC do an infantry charge of like 30 over a bridge as I fumbled to man an engineer turret.. another time i took out 4 sunderers and a tank try to crest a hill with a stationary phalanx turret firing HE.. us TR sorta got "redlined" by the VS last night.. we were pushed to the edge of the map couldn't even fly out of the warp gate far.. it ended tho and TR bounced back somehow.. right now i'm just concerned about getting my galaxy beefed up but the valkrie is really fun it almost feels like a dust dropship AND infantry can fire there weapons from it. today my squads have been stupid tho and really hard to pick up. doesn't help that i cant seem to get comms to consistently |

Hehe.
I have been playing the game on pc for just shy of a year and most of your issues are because you're newbs. There is 'The Zerg' and then there's the cool sht that outfits do. I roll with a very prestigious outfit (TR) and we run around 40-50 people going on rampages and doing all kinds of highly organised and tactical operations.
Because it's new to most of you, expect fk all to be honest, nothing short of a headless chicken clusterfk of epic proportions until people actually know what they are doing and how to employ tactics on a large scale. I have personally commanded about 80 people and had them all assigned to doing different things across the map and one time on two different continents.
I've also seen what happens when too many people are trying to kill and not playing their roles, you get completely arsebanged from one base to the next. That's why you should join an outfit anyway so you never have to deal with 'The Zerg' but it is good for farming certs.
I'll be playing the ps4 version as well.
