Hehe.
I have been playing the game on pc for just shy of a year and most of your issues are because you're newbs. There is 'The Zerg' and then there's the cool sht that outfits do. I roll with a very prestigious outfit (TR) and we run around 40-50 people going on rampages and doing all kinds of highly organised and tactical operations.
Because it's new to most of you, expect fk all to be honest, nothing short of a headless chicken clusterfk of epic proportions until people actually know what they are doing and how to employ tactics on a large scale. I have personally commanded about 80 people and had them all assigned to doing different things across the map and one time on two different continents.
I've also seen what happens when too many people are trying to kill and not playing their roles, you get completely arsebanged from one base to the next. That's why you should join an outfit anyway so you never have to deal with 'The Zerg' but it is good for farming certs.
I'll be playing the ps4 version as well.

Oh yeah another issue you will end up facing is people who care about their k/d.
These people will sit in a base in the hundreds while its getting capped and will just try to score kills from inside the base from behind the force fields. They wil do this knowing that in roughly 2 mins tops, the enemy are going to come storming through every door in the base and kill everyone in there but they don't care so long as they can get a few free kills nice and safe and pad teir k/d. Rather than all keep storming the objectives to uncap and defend the base, they do that instead.
Defo join or make an outfit guys soo you don't have to deal with any of 'The Zergs' bs.
There are different kinds of bases that are generally capped certain ways and people need to know what their role will do best depending on the base. I cba to go into that anyway.
I'd suggest you all run medic or engineer to farm certs for what you want. 'The zerg' is good for farming certs and you can repair and resupply the k/d padding maxes in bases and repair turrets for certs as well.
Trust me the game changes when you join a decent outfit but i think the quality of play on the ps4 won't really pick up for about a year, maybe a bit less until people know exactly what they are doing and know how to play the classes properly. The more people care about their k/d though the more arsrped your faction will get in general.

Planetside 2 will make sht loads of money and no investment firm is going to scrap or do away with a game that has no rival in scale. It has and dominates that area and the only potential rival right now is warhammer 40k eternal crusade which will be ps2 basically but 40k and to be fair, much better in many rspects with depth on many levels.
I wouldn't worry about anything for about 2-4 years to be realistic and if they do shhaft the ps4 version then oh well, welcome to the pc master race version. Watch warhammer eternal crusade though, it will use some very high tech server sht that auto shifts nodes to compensate. It will be one server for all and the hardware is nothing short of beast mode high tech.
Pikkotech is the hardware if i remember correctly.

On pc, not that bad, it happens.
On ps4 i don't know but i can imagine it might be quite bad lol.
The worst thing anyone can do is get butthurt and come back and kill whoever killed them though, you just have to deal with it when it happens.

TEBOW BAGGINS wrote:XANDER KAG wrote:So, how bad is the friendly forces walking into your line of fire? from my observation not too bad at all on the TR side.. the constant FF trains ppl to play right.. if you kill too many friendlies in a certain block of time your weapons will be locked.. i fired down another TR who teamkilled my squaddie and was not locked out.. iirc in planetside 1 you could kill about 3 friendlies per hour, or do that amount of friendly damage before being locked. the locking out would last about half an hour.. not sure about PS2 because I haven't been locked out yet.. i've also killed fellow TR by accident because the light purple and red color labels look almost the same to me or i just was blind with panic.. you see a lot of fresh noobs killing fellow TR because we're always red even to each other.. except our squaddies are green.
It happens, you shouldn't really tk because someone killed a buddy, it happens and when the game goes live and you have hundreds of people all firing and fighting in a small space, it does happen a fair bit with newbs and you are all newbs on the ps4 unless you have prior pc experience.
You have not seen the horror of inter outfit platoon fighting that gets started from one incident of tk that snowballs lol.

yea this rampant farming of kills is going on mostly right now because we're not organized on the beta.. the comms do not seem to be always working right and your automatically squadded with randoms.. last night my random squad was all letting me transport them with the galaxy so i added them all to friends.. that was the first step in organization.. now we need someone that is more sober than me to give the bigger orders.. i think in time these FCs will step up.. right now tho it's mostly just a massive zerg. i think most players are hungry for leadership, they want to take good orders but the easiest option right now really is to zerg.. it helps tho to have a lot of gun game skill to lead the troops from the front.. my gun game has corroded over he last couple of years.. my main concern is getting that polished.. strangely my air game takes little to no maintenance to stay sharp. my galaxy transport ship is badass i got the passive repair and bulldog 60mm turret.. i'm going to upgrade the MGs on it soon.. i seem to be the only one contour flying the galaxy right now. my average cruising altitude is like 15m.. the Valkrie is so badass also.. can't wait to level that up. we were dogfighting with it.. it's like an ADS except it's single nose turret requires a gunner.
Yeah i can imagine. All the newbis and including myself when i started are desperate to get what they want so they farm with engi or medic. They are more cncerned with getting their goodies and i can't blame them really. The grind is pretty harsh for higher tier stuff innit.
For your galaxy i would suggest the walkers first if your going as transport as you'll be needing the AA desperately when people start flying well.
My galaxy is the nanite repair and fire suppression. Fire suppression maxed is 10% health quickly and puts out the fire which is really handy and for the airframe i have the one that improves V-thrust as you can put your nose down and gain a lot of extra speed. Always tilt your galaxy in a manner that all guns can get shots on and fly at an angle so all your turrets can fire. If your're getting attacked from air targets then pitch at any angle thats lets as many turretsget shots on as possible because you won't outrun them or fly over firendlies and they soon back off. Oh and make sure you're flying as an engi so you can repair your plane by landing quick if needed.
I don't mean to patronise, i jst care that people get clued up as much as possible. I can imagine that things are going to be a bit of a pain on the ps4 without teamspeak and the ease of using the ui with a mouse and keyboard though.
Leadership in ps2 it's best to not really be too close to the very front of things as you're no good if you die and don't fuly know what is going on. Gal pilots are always a necessity and when attacking bases, it is a good idea to have squads attacking on two or three fronts depending on the enemy numbers (a massive organised zerg is always tasty though lol). Ultimately the main thing that people are going to have to really get used to is dropping the end match scoreboard mentality to really excel. Dying is very common in ps2 as you have probably already found out and k/d and stats couldn't matter any less in ps2.
I love flying the gal as well. I have most things certed to a high standard and i kind of cheated by buying all the guns and turrets i want lol. I expect that dusters are really going to excel in ps2 with playing roles and organisation, like a diamond in the rough.

When things get locked in hour long gunfights and it wears thin, load up a gal with heavy assaults and have them all drop on the enemy sunderers once located and they will blow it up very quickly but they have to be prepared to die lol.
Gal drops although almost suicidal are devasting to the opposition once you know where the enemy sunderers are.
Another thing Goon Brigade likes to do is to find on every front where the enemy sunderers are and systematically take thm all out via gal drops and heavy assaults. Within 20 mins TR will push forward. This may need to be done a lot but it is affective as fk lol, so many vs and nc tears.
There's also the light assault c4 fairy swarm (which gets you auto kicked from the outfit for faggery in Goon). Have as many light assaults with c4 as you can jet pack over the enemy and rain c4 lol - Most despised tactic in ps2 next to jet ramming.

I've had a lot of coffee so fk it i'll show some good loadouts as well.
HEAVY ASSAULT
Resistance shield and shield capacitor - The resistance shield provides a flat resistance to your shields and hp and has long up times without being dpleted from damage. The shield capacitor at max reduces your shield delay by 4 seconds which means you only have to wait 4 or 5 until it kicks in. The nanoweave does not stack wit hthe shield (very common wuestion asked by newbis).
Health kit - Doesn't need explaining lol
Carv 9 lmg - beasty gun, fit a medium range scope on this and a foregrip to negate some of that nasty horizontal recoil. Alternatively use the minigun for cqc because who the fk doesn't like mniguns lol. Fit the quick spool time on the minigun for much faster application of dps.
The Repeater pistol - This thing with a laser to reduce hip fire spread is a fking monster when you master it. There is also the commissioner for masive alpha dps.
Striker rocket launcher - Not so good damage but is very versatile. The rockets auto lock onto enemy aircraft if they are close and when two people have one of these it does wreck anything (seeing 15 people fire these is insane lol).
Whatever tickles your fancy for grenades.
For cqc swap the resist shield for the nanite mesh generator as cqc nothing will allow you to live very long and it basically eats a few rounds and lets you know you're getting shot, think burst tanking. Also swap the capacitor with nanoweave for cqc as you'll need the straight resistance for you're hp.
ENGINEER
This is quite straight forward really
Flak for long range combat as you'll be under a lot of explosive fire and nanoweave for cqc but flak can also be very good there as well. Flak is better if you're max repairing as people will be firing rockets at that for sure.
Max out your rep tool and go to level 4 with ammo box until you're out of things to cert up as the gain is not much as you have prbably seen yourself.
For the turret unlock level 1 of the anti infantry one as it is actually more useful for a decoy, to place a small shield or to semi block of a doorway and shield yourself and others. The av turret is very useful itself and can almost two shot tanks in the rear lol.
Repeater pistol and always have this with the setup i said. It is a monster when you get good with it.
Armistice smg - Laser attachment, reflex site of choice and compensator. This thing is a fking beast in cqc with no need to even ads out to about 30 metres.
Trac5S - Get the underbarrel grenade launcher and smoke launcher with a site of your choice. This is gun is good for it's versatility.
Shotgun - What ever one you want with extended mag and site of choice.
Tank mines for utiltiy. So long as you put these in high traffic areas smartly, you will get kills even if its an hour later. Swap them for claymores when assaulting bases.
MEDIC
Some people prefer the shield capacitor as you can heal yourself anyway, others prefer nanoweave. That's all preference.
For long range combat use the deployable shield capacitor thing as people will be ducking in and out of cover but for cqc the aoe heal is better.
Max your heal tool (obviously lol).
Revive grenades or heal grenades, both are good really but i prefer revive.
TR cycler - Have this thing with a site of choice and the foregrip to negate the nasty horizontal drfit when firing. It is a cqc beast but you can use the armistice on any class as it's an NS (new sovereignty) weapon as well.
Whatever utility you want
INFILTRATOR
This class is pretty much whatever but the stalker cloak only allows the use of a sidearm. Generally i find it's good to use the deployable motion sensor in bases and the motion darts for outside but that's all preference. The class is generally completely whatever anyone wants really as a skilled infi is a beast.
You defo want to get hacking maxed though. This is more useful than i cba to comment about.
LIGHT ASSAULT
Max them jets, whichever one you want.
Nanoweave or shield capacitor are the best really but grenade bandolier is really good for raining some grenades on people.
C4 - I hate LA's wiith this but it's a must on the class really.
Shotguns and smg's are you friend and you can also get the trac5 S on this as well with the underbarrel options.
MAX
Flak is the best if you're getting a dedicated engi as people will fire rockets and throw grenades a you often. If you don't and think you won't get much reps then kinetic armour is the best as you get shot more often by regular small arms. Nanite regen is pointless as you'll never go too long without and engi and you die too quick with it for it to be worth having.
AA setup - Get a setup with two burster flak cannons and have the quick burst sprint perk to get around quicker.
AI setup - Get whatever two guns you want really but the two mini grenade laucnhers are a beast once you get the hang of them. Use the lockdown perk with this to annihilate sht lol.
It is all preference at the end of the day but these fits are generally a beast and contain the stuff you'll want to cert up first. I could have linked you some vids but those do not cover everything and you'll spend hours watching them all.

They sound like a completely different game. Nope, just more people that haven't been playing it all that long.
Today my first char (oops, toon) stepped out of the spawn pod walked to the force field and looked around. A VS sniper was hacking the vehicle terminal. Six or seven rounds and the engineer scores a kill. Very funny.
Anyway, still very playable on the PC. We don't seem to be low on available players and I played a few hours before real life called. My VS char was involved in a couple hundred player battle. Fun to watch the front move between the two facilities. Flanking maneuvers, end runs and then the fighters and gunships get into the action.
Maybe this summer I can get a PS4 and rejoin my PS3 friends. Sigh.
And to the Dusters playing PS2, I am thinking about you. Have a good time.
No offence but fk your vs character bro lol. We Goons destroy 96+ zergs with 40 of us, get on our level spandex hippy slag!.

Yeah that just sounds like a whole load of painfully Rtarded sht and i can imagine lol. You will have to deal with that for a while i think but when it goes live then more pc vets will join and organise stuff more and more people will know what they are doing by then.
The zerg always follows the missions as you have probably seen. The general rule of thumb is that you farm the zerg for certs and then when you get in or create a decent outfit then you can do the more operational stuff that actually makes an impact. It's defo going to take a while for the quality of play on the ps4 to pick up. You might be better off hot dropping people on objectives and then flying to the bases behind the ones being defended or getting attacked that TR, picking up more and doing it over and over until things get better. You will love it when you have wing men with you as well and 3 gals with walkers is like a flying fortress all on its own with the bulldogs smashing ground forces.

Hahaha.
Yes mate, that's because all the vs stuff is really really easy to use so they tend to be hard. They deny it all the way even though most people have a vs alt for easy mode.
TR - Dps
NC -- Alpha dps
VS - Accuracy and lots of splash weapons and ease of use.
They are all good though but vs is the easiest to use by far. I have an alt and their guns work really well with no certs invested whatsoever but they do have a lack of variety.
The Trac5-S is the one with underbarrel choices btw and theres a carbine variant for the medic. It's more of a squad weapon really.
Just don't let the Vs get to you, they are weak willed people who gravitate towards them i have found.
The tking and idiocy in NC is generally too damn high!.
TR is defo the most professional and the better types of people tend to gravitate towards them i have found. I have an alt in all 3 but TR is main like 99% of the time.

I've been defending this point for like 30 minutes but even our maxes are retrded and running around outside of the point and everyone is just running in circles. the point is just a square building with 3 entrances, i can only guard 2.. it is seriously full retrd mode right now. there is no voice macro to "follow me" or "defend here".. it was a really good opportunity and only a 100m run from the spawn.. if they would have defended with me they would have got way more XP than running around dying..
lol we just lost the facility..
i like how you get points for just defending a point, just by being there.. there are enough players for some to defend while others are pushing.. there doesn't seem to be a red headed step child that gets penalyzed with a small kid size dish of SP for doing something different.. everyone gets good XP for doing something.. the ones pushing i think get a big burst of bonus of XP win they cap but the ones defending get around the same amount over time.. i dunno w/e there doing is pretty sick tho..
ahhh i love the use of a decoy i'm using my turret to distract them when they enter.. the ploy only last so long tho then they bring back 5 guys and just take the point again because the noobs wont defend.. lol they set up a camp by the sunderer instead.. i really need those claymores unlocked then i can guard 3 entrances.. our maxes were a joke
yea this is just a total sht storm.. i sure hope they add txt chat
ya i'm done flying a galaxy for now.. this random gunner crap not working out.. i did manage to ram a scythe who tried to come to a complete stop 20m in front of my gal, it gave me like almost 500 XP.. like a C-130 ramming a fast bird helicopter
all these noobs have the patience of a freakn goat.. ugh god.. i could bash my head into the screen at the travesty of no one knowing what to do.. like wild chickens and monkeys just zerging from the spawn strraight into a meat grinder.. when that doesnt work they just do it again.

Don't worry it will get better as a lot of people from the pc version are going to play the ps4 version as well so there should be quite a few making or joining outfits on pretty much every server.
It does seem like they are running around looking for kills impatiently rather than playing their roles as if it's cod or something. It does have a fairly short TTK but people who sprint around like that die all the time and will soon learn. They will literally either get witth the program when it goes live or get sick of getting owned base after base and just quit the game, i wouldn't worry about it.

All you have to do to do well as a leader in ps2 in to think a bit more 3 dimensionally than just attacking one base at once and head on at that. Not that i think that's how you think but quite clearly you don't.
Let's say you're attacking a base and it's one with power generators. Ideally you want a gal with say 6 engis to hot drop with ha escort onto each generator. You want another gal willed with ha's, light assaults, medics and maxes for combat troops (fodder basically) to drop into the base. You want 2 sunderers to sit outside with a prowler each for escort, some harrassers to draw fire and maybe some air support as well. Sticking a squad of infis in somehwere is always good as well.
That kind of stuff.
Or maybe you want to go a bit further and attack two bases at once?. Maybe you can do what i had the pleasure of doing once where you have two lots of 40 people attacking on two different continents if you feel like challenging yourself but that requires a sht load of communication lol. Being a good leader in ps2 as well requires you look at the map often to check on numbers and where they are moving and mozzy or valk pilots as recon for intel are great as well, 4 engis in a valk repping it is really good for that.
When it goes live and if you decide to make an outfit, you'll get the numbers then but right now it's closed beta so you're kind of stuck with what there is, no choice really. :(

Oh and for 'tower' bases, light assaults with c4 and grenades cause havok proper. Infis are always good but the players themselves tend to be sht and kind of waste their potential. You want the la's to basically kill and force everyone into the spawn room so you can cap the base.
Snipers in ps2 are only useful if a player is getting kills every other second really. Because of the volume of people and respawns, they don't actually do anything really but they always swear blind their useful but they really are not.
Ultimately as you know, you're only as good a leader as the team you're leading and you need to abolutely make sure that the people you get involved with do not care about k/d or it flops. When everyone stops caring aout k/d, you win more and actually end up doing better, everyone does becasue everyone is on point and willing to go the extra mile and everyone ends up getting a better k/d from it. It's when people care about stats and k/d in ps2 that it has a knock on effect and ends up being epic fail.

Also invest in the command channel which is 100 certs to coordinate with other leaders but you will get self entitled halfwits who have simply gotten the channel who feel entitled to tell people what to do when they don't know sht.
I know i've not played the ps4 version but it's still the same game and people are people so i expect the same kind of trends that occur on the pc.

All the leet mlg wannabe kids play vs because it's all ease of use and their purple blends in with the night battles. I know but you're siding with the trash and it's sad lol. The trend might be different on ps4 though. from what i've seen the VS has been the goto class for cloaking teabaggers.. my name here is just a joke a only teabagged one guy in dust because he had a major hard on for me on the forums. i was a proponent of vehicles in closed beta and he wanted them removed so he would stalk all my posts with childish stuff about my gun game and then i owned him in a total 1 vs 1.. yea i left an outfit in PS1 because some idiot on command channel commanded me from the sanctuary to go sit in a corner base alone where no one was fighting.. i ignored his order and kept fighting at a contested base so he starts whining how no recruits ever listen to him.. he lacked any voice of command in the first place and his order was freakn retrded, served absolutely no purpose except to stroke his own ego... it was still an FPS at the end of the day and that was what i was playing it for.. not to sit in a base where no one else was. they pulled this rank crap on me in Battlefield Europe also.. sent me to a spawn truck in the middle of no where without any gunshots in sound and wanted me to RP to this guy there who was supposed to be my superior i was like F this geyness because i was finding the front line as a rifleman without any of there help while they sat back at the base prone with LMGs. smh fkng neckbeards man...
Hahaha.
Yeah the valk is worth certing if you're using it for hit and run and for gathering intel and only with an engi or more repairing it. Otherwise it is sht but i'm sure some people can do some really cool sht with it.

Hey guys - Working on Planetside 2 has been the absolute highlight of my career, but after 4 years working on the game, it's time for a change. Today was my last day on the Planetside 2 team and at Daybreak games. This is a move I've been considering for a while now, and the reorganization provided the right opportunity for me to exit. Planetside 2 is in great hands, with terrific people who honestly care about the game and the players. I can't stress this enough, the folks working on every aspect of the game, developers, marketing, community are talented, hard working people who care more than you can imagine - I'm fully confident they're going to do an amazing job on the next leg of the journey. Finally, I wanted to thank all of you in the Planetside 2 community with whom I've shared the last few years, whether in stream chat, tweets, pms or comments you guys have motivated and inspired me all along. You are an amazing community that I'm looking forward to remaining a member of for a long time.
See you on Auraxis! Matthew Higby Former Creative Director Planetside 2

It's the beta. The actual fights although pretty large are nothing compared to whhat it will be. What these people who whine about zergs keep forgetting is that ps2 is a huge scale combined arms warfare game.
So somehow the HUGE SCALE part went over their heads.
Also the people who generalise about a whole faction being nothing but zergs are in fact the people who are just always in their factions zerg or they'd see otherwise. I have been watching the ps4 beta forums and it is pretty laughable to say the least.
If you look at the factions outlooks, you'll get an idea of the kind of people they will contain. If TR are the most conventional and most organised force in the lore, then you'll get players who will play and want to be part of that. Alll the factions have their zerglings who follow the missions and outfits who actually make moves anyway, well on pc anyway.
I'm in an outfit on pc that takes bases from and repels attacks from 96+ zergs with about 30-40 of us. We are highly organised and have very good discipline with class role play. We do the stuff behind the scenes while the actual zerg or rather, main fighting force zergs. Tactics and thinking outside of the box along with no caring about dying win in ps2. I have /suicide macroed for when we have to redeploy lol.
The game is a zerg, by nature promoted as a zerg. If people have an issue with that then they're either..
A. In the wrong outfit.
B. Not thinking outside of the box and not creating the kind of play they want for themselves.
C. playing the wrong game.
D. Whining when they get owned which can be related to A, B and C.
It's the same on the pc in that you get the whining types but 9/10 all they do is follow the zerg and are usually in an outfit that does nothing but zerg and follows the missions (zerg). There's nothing wrong with zerging anyway, it's what the game is generally about lol. It is what the game promotes and offers over other games.
There's either zerging by either following missions or going for other bases or there's the spec ops type stuff that my outfit does. Ulitmately you can do wtf you want mate and that's the bottom line.
TR ftw!.

I can't comment on that as i've not played the ps4 version or used aim assist but i have characters in all 3 and they are all good. They all have their flavours and if people don't like how one operates then maybe they need to swap faction and stfu.
Faction flavour isn't changing.

also the underbarrel grenade launcher is not working so dont spend 600 on that. the gun it attaches to is a downgrade from the default and your stuck with a broken nade launcher/crappy gun. not sure if the UB shotgun and smoke is working but i;m assuming it's not.
The harasser with 60mm bulldog turret has been really fun for both solo and duo with 1 guy riding in the truckbed and able to fire his personal weapon from that seat.. Its like a LAV with a mass driver turret, passive repair and smoke screen is working. The puff of black smoke has gotten me out of a few jams and looks pretty cool. imagine equipping a thermal scope and then using the smoke offensively but it only lasts for 6 seconds.
The trac5s with any underbarrel is good on the pc so it's just a case of it being broken on the ps4 right now. Thhe galaxy is good if you have the players to make it worthwhile to use or decent enough gunners to utilise is as a gunship but if those upgrades aren't working then yeah it's fked lol. I've looked at the ps4 beta forums and all i have seen are people rejoicing over little tiny battles and even a thread of people who are literally arguing over who is the best so to me the actual quality of play from the players is pretty much codside 2 but on release they'll be having a very rude awakening lol. So with that i'd say you're just having a bad time because you're stuck with trash with nothing to pick from.
I know there are some organised people but having spoken to one, they feel like they are swimming in a sea of sht.
The trac5s is really useful if you're playing with organised people and when the game is released, that is all that will matter. Everyone else inbetween will be fodder and have a sht time in general as they'll be getting stomped by all the organised/pc player filled outfits from base to base at every turn so i wouldn't worry about how things handle right now really.

I have been playing the game on pc for just shyear and most of youres are because you're newbs.
Is your outfit going to be on PS4? I downloaded the PC version today, hooked up my DS4 and messed around for a few hours. Thinking I may specialise in piloting. Lib/Valk/Gal... And so I should really run with organised folks. Not sure about ESF. It was fun but it's such a knife edge of control and I couldn't get my gamepad sensitivity right.
No they have no interest in the ps4 version but i do as my bf clan on ps4 will be playing it. You really need to look around for outfits that have been around since ps1 or at least the start of ps2 as most are just plain crap. A lot think they're organised when really the are just on the fly crap just like the zerg trash or, main fighting force as i call them.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dGSDYvwvuE
That's one night and we have one of our outfit buddies translating to some of his audience in some parts. There's loads of outfit night videos from Goon Brigade. Some parts may seem boring but pplaying ftw and thinking on a much larger scale and ahead requires that sometimes it can be boring but you have to do whatever it takes to make a difference when 90% of players and outfits are just going from base to base mindlessly doing fk all to be blunt, jst flinging sht at eachother for hours on end. That can be fun though.
We are one of a handful of outfits on all sides on our server who actually make moves and have it down to an art almost with how each class plays, how to setup for defence in a base, how to attack, everything. Noone questions anything as we all know what we're doing and know how to play the set roles for the night unless ordered to swap out but granted everyone fks up now and then. We go onto a server called emerald sometimes to have it easy as that server is like a newb server although that's not official, they just all suck so badly there but they don't know it as they don't know any better. That goes for 90% of players and outfits.
As for the esf thing yeah, i use the ds4 to fly and it is really annoying but smoother in many respects.
Again like i said above, the only time ANYTHING in the game will suck is because either you suck or your playing with typical run and gun trash. Tactics and discipline with respect to whoever is in command win in ps2, not 1v1's.
You will only be effective on every level in ps2 if you're playing with other decent players who also have the right mindset with tactics and class play. Anytime you feel like your not making progress, take a look at who you're playing with and what outfit you're in. If they're not redeploying often and are always running as infantry or you find yourself doing the exact same bullsht for longer than half hour then you're playing with clowns.
A nice zerg is always nice now and then though don't get me wrong but like i said, if you're finding yourself to be ineffective or anything in the game is ineffective then you're not playing with the right people as the game is a team based game. If you care about dying then just quit because you'll not enjoy the higher levels of play either that happen in the decent outfits.
I can't stress that enough. I played for a year and started getting bored until i joined my outfit and it is like i am now rolling with the gods. I realised that pretty much the only reason TR even do well on my server is because of my outfit and 2 others. The main fighting force (zerg) isn't even aware of the stuff we do and how it affects them. 40 of us can hold off or attack 96+ zergs with just troops and maybe 2 galaxies, go figure.

If you consider your outfit whether join or created as THE game changer and play that way and consider the zerg as the main fighting force, you'll be a step ahead of the trash already.
You are going wrong already though, i can see the zergfit trash in you already. The sooner you comprehend that it's ging to be your outfit alone or maybe 1 or 2 others that make any difference among the swarm of trash the better.
Like i said 30-40 of use can hold off 96+ zergs and take bases from them. Some small fry temporary air crew of even 10 liberators wouldn't do sht vs about 20 strikers. You'll have to build your own outfit or join one that has decent infantry as well or you'll be at the mercy of how well the zerg does often and eating flak and having to retreat, you'll need people on the ground.
I may be coming off dkish but you don't seem to be getting it lol. I fully comprehend what you want but that is contrary to what you'll get verus the outfits filled with pc vets or at least have a few to pass on their knowledge to their console peasant brethren.

It's because TR Guns+Aim Assist>VS and NC Guns+Aim Assist. The usually slightly higher dispersion and kick of TR guns is negated by the Aim Assist, leaving them on top. I can't comment on that as i've not played the ps4 version or used aim assist but i have characters in all 3 and they are all good. They all have their flavours and if people don't like how one operates then maybe they need to swap faction and stfu. Faction flavour isn't changing. Then ******* don't. Defensive much? I never said TR weapons need to change. I just think Aaim Assist needs to be toned down or balanced so all three factions get the same benefit from it.

The best - NC
2nd place - TR
Losers - VS
And vs properly got fked as well and that event was the best from all 3 factions. VS displayed clearly that they care more about k/d than actually doing what it takes to win.
Anything you say is invalid where how good vs are.

Ps2 is very pretty, especially at 70fps in 1080p. But it feels like a massive scale CoD. Fluid movement, but that could also be from way better framerate. No real character progression. Just focused on being nothing but a shooter, if that makes sense? Maybe depth is a wrong term to use, but Dust's skill tree, character progression, and variety of fits makes for a way better game, just severely handicapped by the ps3's incapabilities.
Now that I'm getting a good taste for what the modern games are like, I'd hate to never see Legion. There is such a good concept with this game it just needs to be re-conceptualized on modern hardware.
"Just focused on being nothing but a shooter, if that makes sense" Yes this makes sense if you're playing with randoms who just follow the base missions. If you play with people who know what they're doing then you will get role play because higher levels of play demand role play to be effective.
Outfits that actually know what they're doing are few and far between though. You're not going to experience anything decent really unless you join an outfit that's been around since ps1 or the start of ps2. If you decide to play more, just be careful of what outfits you joni as most are just run and gun trash who dont know how to make play more tactical and deeper than simply running from base to base.

Sometimes I hear people on coms, sometimes I don't. Is your mic live to the entire team, or just on area your at, or just in proximity? I really need to find a good write up on it. Watched a bunch of youtube on it but any beginner guides i've seen are just a simple run through.
Is there a way to send mail or where's the damn player list? I had one dude last night stickin with me and playing smart. Damn good logi, I wanted to at least thank him somehow, but couldn't navigate the menu's properly enough to do so.
Whatever, its fun and to answer the op, it has made me less active in Dust. I still play a few games now and again, and have a ton of fun when I do because there are still things that this game got right. CCP needs to not forget about Legion. Hire a few more people and just knock Legion out. Pull an H1Z1 and other games and charge for early access. I'd pay the minute it went live.
Dust will die eventually, sad only if we never see it moved to another platform. Say what you want about countries who are just now getting ps3s, the major portion of any video game playerbase have or are making the move to greener pastures. CCP just needs to catch up or get left in the Dust (I couldn't help it).
I can't comment on the ps4's UI but i will say it looks horrifically simplified in a manner thats just really basic and with less freedom.
It's actually quite an insult to console players if you ask me. The UI on the PC is brilliant and there was no need to change it for the ps4 and 'streamline' it.

Tebow, go to our recruitment thread if you play NC, you will find us very attractive, D.F.I.
The stuff you can do with one "thinking" squad is amazing.
Yes mate.
It is pure gold when the right kind of people use it and you guys are the right people. It's amazing how quickly people flake as well, like where the fk are they going to go lol. Have you noticed people doing this when you are persistent and they just up and leave.
I'd also say Tebow you probably should make an alt on NC and roll with Cyrax defo. It's not TR but everyone ends up with an alt in each faction anyway and from what i am seeing from the beta, there's trash, the few decent outfits (annd im being kind there as i only see 1) and then decent players who are swimming with the trash so to speak lol.
As cyrax said, he's used some of what i have said and it's golden. That doesn't even mean my tactics are golden as such, it means his guys have the right attitude to execute that sht successfully so right off the bat i'd say join him to get some proper play.
I can't fking wait for the ps4 version. I love the pc version but it is try hard or die mode constantly as i and anyone else who wants every advantage barring hacks is running crazy dpi and macros lol. There's just no chilling at all and even the casual play is fking hardcore lol.
I am really looking forward to the much more relaxed speed where we cant all spin on a pin head quicker than your screen even renders lol.

I won't outline the actual tactics employed, but there is always a "BIG" surprise waiting inside the bus, hehehe. We do so many things with that bus other than deployment, the enemy must sometimes say "wtf are they doing" and boom they're dead.
One of the greatest things about PS2 is you can be as creative as you want in finding ways to capture bases or just straight up kill and blow stuff up. It's how you use that creativity to help the outcome of a battle that defines the true "thinking" squads from the COD style squads.
Can't wait to see you and your guys TK and roll together,
We shall get drunk on the tears of our enemies.
Yes mate 100%.
It's potentially about 150 people who will be coming with me but given the nature of ps2, i'd imagine it will whittle down to about 30 people because as you know, sometimes you have to die over and over and over to do something and a lot of the people in my clan are purely console and cod/bf at that as well. So i don't know how they'll handle not having any end game scoreboard but either wayy it wil be great.
I am the only person other than one other who has played ps2 so the will have a long way to go but it's going to be great.

No not at all mate, i highly doubt they will.
Japanese players come on eu servers and they are no problem really. It's not like your average game where the can abuse that sht, it works really well.
Also hit detection is client side so when i shoot someone, i tell the servers i hit them rather than the usual way it works where we ask the servers with everyy hit, the server querys and says no they weren't there.
I hate that sht in BF4, it's really bad there.

Found out I won't be able to participate until the SCEE beta rolls around some **** like that. it is fun but also know that it is not as fun as it should be with all the crashes and low server pop is only at 25% so you're not missing a whole lot yet. there are some epic fights but i would say those equal about 2 hours of the 6 hours the server is up for.. the rest of the time it's been like a normal 16 vs 16 game or late at night before server maintenance it's mostly an hour of soft capping unoppsed bases and exploits like your infantry being OHKed by what's essentially a heavy wielding an AA weapon is annoying AF.. also guided air to air missles with broken decoys and on board fire supression not working sucks.. also the in game comms do not work with any consistency and it's pretty blueberried out right now. i just crashed now after 5 minutes
That really pisses me off lol. I know it will get fixed and i have no idea at all how coding works but that seems really shtty to me lol.

AU player, happy enough to join a US server or whatever. (I play Dust on American server). Have been messing around on the PC version to get some practice in before the game launches. And have been listening to old episodes of "under the radar".
Planning on going Lib/Gal/ESF pilot. Still can't get the hang of the reverse maneuver yet though. So will likely cert them in that order.
As such will be mostly interested in running with organised squads, though I'be heard a 2 person lib can do some cool solo flights.
Don't really care what faction. Just want to fly with folks who are gonna be around to squad up, so a large (100+) clan is preferable.
There's two kinds of play in ps2.
Casual zerg play between bases and everything inbetween.
Outfit play where it is highly organised, people have role play discipline and everyone watches eachothers backs.
Just make sure you join a decentt outfit.
The outfit i am in on pc had one of our bi weekly organised sessions yesterday and i racked up 76 kills as HA in an hour which is really good considering how we are always going into the highest population fights and spearheading pretty much everything game changing for TR on our server.
One thing i cannot stand is HA players who cower. The HA is the main soldier, the class that gets **** done and through tenacity, will drive his/her fellow comrades around him forwards.
Then outfit night ended and our inner goons came out. I prefer the old drop a tank mine and then blow up about 10 friendlies trick. Or another is to randomly shoot a player with a burst or two from my pistol and then quickly turn around so the don't know who is doing it. Sometimes they kill someone thinking it was them and then it starts a fight lol.
High speed sky whale tank teabagging anyone?

The best suppressive fire weapon, so far, is the Lasher 2 - wow, fun to use. Big blobs of plasma causing decent damage to shields and armor. Keep your head down or die. Any clan/guild/group that can field 32 or more will do fine as they will have a lot of random collections against them. The only negative to the game for me is flying. I love watching a fighter flip upside down flying backwards while still shooting, but when I fly I am just a flying bullet magnet. Hopefully that will improve when I can use a controller on the PS4. My PS3 now PS4 friends are TR last I checked. I'm just biding my time on the PC until I can join them.
Goon Brigade on pc has no relation at all to Eves Goon swarm thank you.
Incorrect. There is a zergfit called DIG and they try to spam about 150 of their scum and it doesn't go well for them unless it's past prrime time and there's barely anyone on. NC also has ORBS which is another trashy zergfit and they do the same and also do badly. Those two zergfits have to actually team up on the sly against us (thats about 300 against 50) to actually beat us properly because they just zerg like orks.
VS is the easiest to use overall. Their weapons fuunction really well right off the bat and their max goes into berserk mode and wrecks in cqc. NC have serious potential as their weapons do loads of damage but across all servers they are plagued by lack of decent teamwork on pc.
TR suffers because we get the most newbs and then when people get the hang of the game, they tend to move to vs for the most part as it is just easier so it's hard for TR to keep dedicated players. Because of the nature of TR's arsenal, they rely heavily on decent coordination. Regardless of what people, say TR is defo harder to use UNLESS the combat is happening within 10 metres where the high rof and p!ss poor accuracy actually matters.
Also you're going to have a crap time flying solo in general as the game is not balanced around solo play. Try to find an outfit that has a decent amout of pilots or you're just going to be food for dual burster maxes and other pro pilots who dedicate themselves to killing newb pilots.

steadyhand amarr wrote:it was a lot more tactical than planetside 2.
for example my two main roles was forword scout, where i fly ahead of main group and scout out the base to report numbers and defence set ups and which entrance was least guarded. and the 2nd was laser designator for artillery bombardments, and that role got my blood pumping so much, having to get behind lines and dec AMS BFRS or anything else that looked important, and then watch another player use my signal to rain death down.
lastly after about a month of work i got my BFR robot and my role changed to get into big robot and smash face :P
but my first ever newb role in the outfit, was hacking control points and thats where i think planetside 2 went a little wrong :P you could stall a huge attack by just killing the only guy who hack the base if the outfit was poorly setup :P.
or racing though the inside of the base among all the chaos to get to the CN hack it, only to defend it.
uuugg i could go on for hours.
Like my outfit once did special operation runs where gen smash an empires tech plant and then hold generator as long as possible. while doing this as a hacker i would have to race around and hack control nodes while runners did ammo runs or legging it to lockers where you could stash stuff in the event terms got powered down or broken, leading me to once stuffing my locker full of ammo at base we owned.
racing across the map in mozzie bailing out over a gen hold, fighting past an outfit trying to retake the genroom, dropping off the first set of ammo our maxes need, then fighting back out the room, stuffing my face with ammo and then running back and forth a few times.
i can tell you i was never so happy to see another outfits Gals fly overhead and drop of reinforcements as apparently the battle had caught up to the tech plant :P
Sounds quality. I can't believe i never played it nor understand how they went so wrong lol. Goon Brigade has quite a few ex ps1 players so it makes sense how they know their sht. That and the Arma series which are so milsim that it can be a complete drag lol.

also in planetside 1 there weren't really classes it was more like dust with an inventory like ultima online where you fit things into a backpack. the inventory system created more flexible and customized character choices. like iirc you could fit an entire weapon into your backpack while carrying a main and a sidearm, if you wanted to switch weps you just packed one into backpack at the sacrifice of space for extra ammo or grenades or you could have a medkit and rep tool packed.
i've been kinda bummed with the beta population lately the most you get is like 50 vs 50 for maybe an hour the rest of the time it's like 12 vs 12.. it's getting kinda boring because the main thing it has going for it is massive battle that doesn't last long because no one is really playing the objective just zerging and going 1.0 KDR, if no one is capping or defending the base flips in like 3 minutes then it's several minutes of downtime in the battle because they move to the next base to fight there for another 3 minutes with about 5 minutes of lull in between each.
I loved UO.
I had so many bags inside bags that stuff just ended up lost lol. I was a murdering bastard that rode a beetle with a pitchfork and had my attacks macroed to nuke regardless of setup.

If the coast is clear and a base is won, rather than redeploying into the gal, do a thing called scraping (it makes the gal pilots job a lot more fun).
Everyone lines up, the gal pilot lines himself up on approach and he then flies down really low and everyone pushes enter vehicle as he flies past.
If it works then everyone will be inside the gal on their merry way to the next load of carnage.
If it fails, everyone gets squished but it is really fun.
