The best thing IMO that could be done for salvage or looting would be to continue the strongbox/key distribution rewards but add an actual "looting" mechanic as an active gameplay element.
This would be best and most simply done by adding a hacking option for enemy equipment on the field, ie instead of detroying tue equipment by melee holding circle when prompted would allow the link/hive/pe/re to be hacked and stowed away in the players inventory. BW kinda screws the idea of hacking and then leaving blue and active but maybe later that sort of thing could be integrated.
The looting of biomassed dead enemies would be similiar, after they're dropped and before the body expires a quick "hack" (loot) could be performed that generates, say 2 out of the 7 mods/weapons/equipment the dead player was using. (the numbers are arbitrary, just used for the example. The point is to ACTIVELY salvage the corpse and receive some parts of the fit tho not all of it. )
This, like this, would be far more fun than random salvage being assigned to inventories as well as adding a real spur-of-the-moment decision to be made insofar as risking spending precious seconds of a firefight looting corpses instead of pursuing other events. As well as more rewarding since the loot would draw directly off not just what gear enters the battle but also what gear is destroyed in such a way to be looted at all.

Agreed, if there's an addition game-wise to be made it should be a full , new addition not just another layer of hoopjumping for the same thing we have now. Such extra hoops add neither worthwhile content nor worthwhile gameplay.

Don't like the idea of more ISK from pubs. Where does it end? Is the expectation that average players should be able to run full-proto full-time?
I'm not far off from that, as crappy as my fps skills are. Feels like social assistance, tbh.

In the short run I dont mind if its basically just another form of ISK, just as long as its not a long term thing.

we have heard your pleas for more ISK per battle, and here is one simple way, as proposed by the CPM. There is also a more radical idea from SirManBoy, that has you claiming the items you kill. That is considerably more difficult, so consider this Phase 1.
we will be adding more Salvage and increasing the chances of drops, considerably. We feel that this is a different, more entertaining way of getting ISK and items, rather than just plain old ISK. Eventually, it may pave the way for crafting components, MMO style. For us to be able to dynamically change loot tables without patching the client, we had do some foundation development work which is well under way.
The "ISK" Salvage will be in the form of new types of scrap that can be sold directly for ISK. We are also adding a few items, as well as the new Officer Dropsuits, and Officer Sidearms. More on that later.
We are also taking a look at ISK payouts, which will be in its own Feedback thread.
So this generic scrap? How will this be determined? You kill count? Is it based on a team pot?
What will the stock price of this scrap be?

Kain Spero wrote:Increased salvage sounds great, but will there be an easier way to sell the salvage? Right now converting items you get from salvage is a time consuming process. UI would be to select an item, mark it as a non-sellable, and then have a sell all option that sells everything in your assets for that specific section, except the item that you marked.
This would obviously apply to the entire stack.

I'd choose SirManBoy proposal every day. It can be found here.
In his idea you earn what you fight for, the more you are efficient on the battlefield the more you earn.
Isnt it exactly how it would work in a real contract between a mercenary and his customer? The better mercenary you are, the more you are efficient the more you are going to be paid. Would you pay more a great mercenary or one that sits on the warbarge the whole time of the fight?
With CCP Rattati proposal we will still have the same amount of isk and a random amount of salvage that isn't based on our efficiency on the battlefield at all.
So please CCP Rattati add SirManBoy proposal or at least make so that salvage are based upon our efficiency on the battlefield, so the more WP you have the more you obtain from salvage. (speaking about WP you may want to take a look at this thread, that is about new ideas to reward non logis for doing their hard work.)
One of the few assaults you'll find in a PC match!

Short term could we also be allowed to sell strongboxes?
They shouldn't be worth much (far less than their potential content) but that then gives the choice to either hold on to them and wait for keys to get some sweet sweet loot (or not) or just melt em down for instant isk. |

My only complaint it your lack of initial caps. We must not encourage this grammatical perversion! I am willing to give someone a pass if they struggle with English, or are posting a quick idea on their phone, but I know you know better, and I am fairly sure you wrote this with a keyboard.

1) I like the general idea.
2) Would it be possible, if its even a good idea, to at some point essentially salvage the nanites which we could essentially use to construct materials in our fancy new warbarges? I don't even know if I fully understand the process, so maybe there is a better logistical application, but something similar would be cool. I don't need 1000 heavy suit parts, or HMG parts etc.
3) How do you appropriately reward people who provide non destructive support like those who hack, lay nanohives and uplinks, rep, provide active scans etc.? Sometimes putting my clone on the line and sacrificing it for the greater good is needed, or simply acting in a non combat capacity.

Thanks for reminding me, i need to change my sig.
I had it before they clarified the platform systems.
