Dear Players,
we have heard your pleas for more ISK per battle, and here is one simple way, as proposed by the CPM. There is also a more radical idea from SirManBoy, that has you claiming the items you kill. That is considerably more difficult, so consider this Phase 1.
we will be adding more Salvage and increasing the chances of drops, considerably. We feel that this is a different, more entertaining way of getting ISK and items, rather than just plain old ISK. Eventually, it may pave the way for crafting components, MMO style. For us to be able to dynamically change loot tables without patching the client, we had do some foundation development work which is well under way.
The "ISK" Salvage will be in the form of new types of scrap that can be sold directly for ISK. We are also adding a few items, as well as the new Officer Dropsuits, and Officer Sidearms. More on that later.
We are also taking a look at ISK payouts, which will be in its own Feedback thread.

I had a thought about the strongboxes, where it gave you a 'multiple choice' selection based on your skills (it determines what 'level' of payout it provides first, then checks your skills and offers you say 3 choices based on that).
Is that even possible? I think many people would prefer it to the current random payouts where they can get things that are outright useless to them.

We want to polish the feature at some point, but my preferred method is to have at least one release between a new feature and the polish, so that it is properly experienced. Unless there are exploits or unintended behaviour.

It's meant to be vendored. Maybe melted to Nanites when we cross that bridge.

Strongbox idea, different key types. Some keys can be bought with ISK, but have a poorer chance of rewarding good items. Some can be bought with LP that unlock items specifically made by that race. And regular AUR keys. Perhaps different tiers of AUR keys where the higher tier keys have better chances of giving officer gear. I would especially like to see the LP keys that unlock racial items from boxes.

Increased salvage sounds great, but will there be an easier way to sell the salvage? Right now converting items you get from salvage is a time consuming process.

Will how much you contribute in battle affect the drop rate? For example more WP get more salvage or something?
A big problem for me is that I don't believe proto should really be used in a pub match, you can use it but you will have to expect to go ISK negative. It doesn't seem to fix the proto stompers ability to keep proto stomping.

If Scrap is ultimately intended to be used as a industry building material, you have my support. Otherwise if its only purpose is to be sold and never anything else, then it's the same as more ISK + an extra step to actually get it, which is more obnoxious than interesting.

To allow further development into crafting. It's probably a system they could adjust on the fly to allow different "salvage" rates that can be sold for isk or used to forge different things. Isk vs potential product decisions could be fun.

I'm happy if u increase the officer rate instead of 1:10000000000 ( funny number) at something like 1:50 just because they are almost impossible to find.
Talking about the isk payout, wouldn't it better if u just increase the payout like 20%+ and see how the ppl feels the change?
Keep up the good work.

Interesting, I always wondered why I basically get nothing or just crap.
It would be awesome in my opinion if destroyed stuff leaves some sort of salvage which can be used to recycle/reproduce said stuff. Say you destroy 10-15 HAV and you get enough scraps to build a new one or a LAV. Perhaps even be able to build special new vehicles out of "mixed" materials.
Take this as the starting point.
One thing to note, it might be nice to get certain salvage out of the teams pool depending on your playstyle. A player who mainly logis is more likely to gain logi scraps.
If it's only to sell.... please just make jama kumora increase isk payout instead. |

I actually have no complaint about the current ISK payout. The current ISK payout makes you evaluate your expenses. That is why my fits all have prices in description. Also, I like how some try to protostomp but end up switching back to adv/basic after getting killed a couple times. I think there is such a cry for an increase in ISK payout due to a lot of players used to having plenty of ISK to protostomp via passive ISK generation in PC. Since that has been removed, they have to rely on their actual means to protostomp which ends in them being broke. If ISK payout is to be increased, please do it ever so slightly or DUST's premise of resource management will be broken. Plus, if you increase it too much, there will be no reason for anyone to play PC. If you're going to increase ISK payout, make it in PC instead of pubs. As for salvage, this does need some correction. I have 400+ strongboxes but I know players with 1000+. This should be corrected by making strongboxes harder to get containing better gear. Pub salvage could be more like FW salvage but FW would then even be less of a focus by most players.
I cannot be bought, but I can be leased.

@rattati... Is there ever the possibility of salvaging being an actual gameplay option rather than a reward mechanic? Done correctly it could be a great personal/corp conflict driver?
Previous suggestions involve the ability to return to a battlefield once combat has concluded to scour the site for phat lewt (as ccp Z once put it i believe). Have the server spawn a session of the map following the battle with things that can be scanned down and retieved. Would be a ffa or squad ffa type of mode.
Anyone getting annoyed by reading of the above post should consider the following.

love the premise of the idea, but it will be a headache if its anything like selling assets so please don't categorise it just list it all in one category with a "sell all".
on a second note i would like to see it correlate with the personal warbarge maybe as a "currency" or "materials" to upgrade it.
