Well, overheat lasts 6 seconds, minimum. So its not like they're just gonna pull out an SMG and immediately finish you when they overheat.

Keep in mind that Max DPS is also much easier to achieve on a CR than it is on an ScR, which widens the gap in real use.

with respecs I have tested all assaults with racial weaponry.

imho best amarr assault fitting is:
proto ScR
3 complex ferros
2 complex reps
3 damage mods
core locus
armor shredding sidearm

that is 9xx dps, over 1k dps vs shields, still 7xx dps against armor. enemies drop in a second. overheat is a nonissue if your enemy drops dead before he can react. only thing that will last more than a second is an armor tanked heavy, but that can be easily overcome by cooking a grenade, throwing it into his face and instantly start to shot at him => grenade will explode when he is deep into armor resulting in dead heavy.

gallente assault can do something similar with TAC Ar but with the same fitting it has less health than my minmatar assault (lol)

CR has fire delay, if your just the press button as fast as you can you will lose dps due to pressing the button during delay. button presses have to be timed correctly to get the most dps out of it.

with ScR you simply press button as ******* fast as you can and stop shortly before overheat.

First, of all, there is no way you can press it 10 times per second in a consistent rate.
There are people that can fire fast, but nobody can do that.
