Strafing is fundamentally bad for the game.
As it is, someone can start moving unpredictably, thereby confusing their opponent and throwing off their aim. But there's also a chance that the opponent is a tryhard strafe-cheater as well, and now you have TWO people trying to trick each other into missing shots, while also trying to LAND shots.
I think we can all say that using such trickery to win an encounter is utterly unacceptable. It's kinda like in basketball when someone fakes another player out, and then the referee shoots the offending player in the back of the head.
CCP PLEASE.

The only reason I agree with this is because CCP, for some reason, cannot get the game to run higher than 2 frames per second.
It's been almost 3 years CCP... it shouldn't take this long to get this game to work on the most basic level... |

You can't remove strafing from a first-person shooter, it should get nerfed, though.
That moment when you mow down a proto Caldari assault suit with a militia laser rifle.

CCP PLEASE. strafign is only bad when scouts use it..
sadly scouts are OP thus alot of people play scouts..
only counters to scouts are sentinels and MOAR SCOUTS..
thus we get Scout n Sentinel 514..

Seems like it can be argued that it there is some amount of skill involved to both strafe like that and hit people who are strafing.

No, assaults can do it too.
Armor assaults just have a harder time because plates reduce all movement speeds, not just forward/back/sprint.
Strafe speed is 90% of forward movement, so it is determined after plates are applied.
EVE Online is what you get when engineers attempt to create "fun" without consulting someone who comprehends the word.

CCP PLEASE. most or all other FPS games have a accuracy penalty when strafeing. the core of any fps in a gunfight is aiming and getting hedshots faster then your opponent and useing cover not who can dance side to side faster.

As people above said, we need inertia physics, the way it is now people change direction instantly, becoming near untouchable.

The only problem with strafing is low FPS and poor hit detection.
Can CCP fix the core problems of the game instead of trying to put playability band aids on on that just make these things even more difficult to fix?
Strafing was never a problem when we had the thing that slowed you down when you got shot. I really think this should be brought back. |
