I would actually base any LP suits on the Faction Navy instead, so these (Brutor, Tash Murkon, Kaalakiota and Roden) won't be in the LP store.

I really want to see Navy colors represented in dust, how or when I don't know, yet. These new faction suits are coming as a direct response to this thread and player requests. As the APEX LP variants were a cool precedent in earn vs AUR, I would be very happy with LP and AUR STD BPO's.

I don't know what happened with the current pirate faction gear and would like to erase them from memory and game.
My, and a few CPM's idea is to use pirate factions as "post level 5" content, as in not more powerful, but sidegrade dropsuits maybe

Even as a closed beta player, I am more excited to bring proper eve factions (we have enough) rather than "off-brand" dropsuits like the solstice, etc.

For minmatar suits, lore-wise I think this is what would make sense:
Sebiestor tribe is supposed to be nnovative and engineers, so the Sebiestor suit should be a logistics.
Vherokior tribe is supposed to be versatile, so assault.
Krusual tribe is supposed to be sly, cunning, and secretive, so a scout is a perfect fit.
Thukker tribe is supposed to be nomadic, which also fits well with the speed and stamina of a scout.
Nefantar tribe has been living with the Amarr as citizens as part of the Ammatar Mandate until recent revalations (them joining the Amarr willingly was with the blessing of the elders, and part of a plan to protect the Starkmanir tribe) lead to the defection of many back to the Republic. Having lived as Amarr for so long, they likely favor high HP like them, so sentinel would be a good fit.
Brutor tribe is supposed to be disciplined and very martial, could be anyone, but I would pick commando since nothing else truly fits.

Cool. Long as I don't have to dish out $10 for a BPO and can freely just shell out some Aurum or a colored suit of the tier of my choice (Adv/Proto, whatever). That was the solid benefit of the Closed Beta vanity items, imo, being able to field my color of choice while at the same time having the power level I want.

CCP shanghai doesn't have the resources to do it properly. They deserve their own models, not just skins. I'm willing to wait years for them to be done correctly. In EVE, pirate stuff is really cool and special. Its earned via LP fighting for pirate factions, which has a huge penalty on your character in terms of destroying your empire faction/security status (you can't travel in highsec without being attackable by everyone, and having NPC's constantly hunting you).. It's a major risk/reward choice. Many of the bonuses for pirate stuff is Ewar and drone related. We need to add that stuff to DUST/Legion, get it balanced with the existing factions first before "muddying the waters" with a slapdash attempt to add post level 5 content.
Best PvE idea ever!

Mind you alot of pirate gear in eve online uses regular models. only about half of them have unique models.

My, and a few CPM's idea is to use pirate factions as "post level 5" content, as in not more powerful, but sidegrade dropsuits maybe I love the idea of pirate factions following the EVE mechanic of being rule-breaking side-grades. Dust right now has a bit of an issue where the vets have used all the gear, played every role, mastered every map and ground every game-mode into the ground. With nothing left to learn, boredom seeps in. :( I feel something wholly new on a mechanics level would be very good for the game.
A few off-the-cuff examples: - Ghost Scout: A Scout with vastly reduced Cloak shimmer, but only has a Sidearm slot and no Light weapon ability. - Endurance-mando: A Commando without an equipment slot, but slowly passively regenerates ammo over time. - Hunter Assault: An Assault where everyone they shoot is lit-up for a few seconds like they were Actively Scanned, but missing the Sidearm. - Pure Logi: A Logi with a 20% DPS nerf, but paired with a 20% EHP buff. - Un-sneak-up-on-able Sentinel: A Sentinel with a Scout's level of Scan Precision & Range, but missing most of their damage resistances.
Edit 1: A note on my underline above: I was annoyed how for a long time players were asking for more Rifles, and CCP to their credit gave us what we were asking for, but I was just thinking "This is a bullet hose by any other name. Point and spray. Yes, we need this for racial balance, but let's not think this is truly new content."
A very fundamental rule of games is that once a game has been "solved" it stops being fun. (The trope example here is Tic-Tac-Toe. It's fun for kids, but adults don't play it because we know the entire move-sequence needed to guarantee Win/Stalemate.)
A few months back some new games dropped and Dust lost a lot of it's vets. While the simple perspective on this is that these new games were "better", on paper it's more complicated than that. All the vet's friends, progression and mastery were here; money and time was deeply invested in Dust. Hypothetically there should have been little reason to leave; so why did they? I'd argue a big part of it wasn't that the new games were per-say better, but that they were new. Their assets hadn't been seen yet; their mechanics hadn't been explored yet.
Vanity items are positive additions to the game; we needed it for revenue and personalization. Racial parity is a positive addition; we needed it for lore and for certain balancing actions. By no means am I saying we shouldn't be pursuing these things. But I am saying a known game is boring. We must also be adding new gameplay.
Edit 2: I am deeply looking forward to the new Warbarge feature, and the related PC/FW/Pub mechanics. ;) May this be the beginning of the march out of the well trod Arena-FPS into the great wild lands of the MMO-Sandbox-FPS. :D o7 |

Hey Rattati, just throwing this out there as I know you've been playing around with some bullet colors, but an Item that I would *love* to buy for aurum would be a permanent shader for 'bullets'.
Maybe do it based on weapon with each weapon having a standard range of color 'blueprints'. So I could buy an item that makes my Assault rifle's plasma rounds green, my scrambler pistols 'bolts' purple and etcetera.
This would allow for the sale of individual colors, color packs for each weapon or color packs for each race of weapons.

Post Level 5 Dropsuits (Just straight out of my head )
Serpentis Ghost.
Description: This scout suit utilizes cloak that is second to none. Unlike most of the dropsuits in it's class, it cannot be seen while moving with a cloak, making it undetectable to the eyes of it's enemies. It's dampening is also very well compared to others, however it's scanning is sub-par, only able to scan from a short range as it's energy reserves are used to keep it unseen. This also effects it's speed and stamina. Use cloak modules with awareness, as the power core fitted within the suit, although keeping it unseen at all times, the energy it uses can waste quickly, and the cool downs are longer than normally necessary. It's protection against enemy fire is also severly lacking. (these drawbacks are used to keep it from being OP)
Shields: 50 Armor: 80 High slots: 1 Low slots: 4
Gurista Pirates Aggressor
Description: A Caldari Assault dropsuit stolen and replicated by "The Rabbit" into becoming a staple assault suit for the Gurista Pirates. It's shields are much more "Overcharged" giving slightly more tank than it's Caldari counterpart. However, this leaves it's recharge rate much to be desired, as the shield compressors used in the suit are non-existent. This is due to "The Rabbit" modifying the suit to give it more of a stand and deliver approach rather than a hit n run style. It's stamina is also heightened, allowing it to run greater distances.
Shields: 320 Armor: 130 High Slots: 5 Low Slots: 2 Shield Recharge Rate: 22HP/s Shield delay: 5.65 Shield depleted delay: 8.45 (Added to show the downside of using this suit)
Blood Raiders Harbinger
Description: An Amarrian Assault used under the blood raiders. It's exceptionally deadly as it relies more on repairs than tank, making it quick against it's counterpart. It is also wired to provide more damage with laser weaponry. It's downside? it causes the overheat to be higher, due to much of it's power being converted to cause awesome damage against it's enemies. It's tank, unlike the true Amarrian way, is lacking in favor of reps. But make no mistake, it is still deadly.
Shields: 120 Armor: 200 High Slots: 2 Low Slots: 4 Armor Repair rate: 7.00 hp/s
Angel Cartel's 'Dominator'
A heavy Dropsuit unlike the main factions. Covered with unknown technology, it's capabilities are unpredictable to those against it. Although lacking in protection, Much is unknown Angel Cartel dropsuits, but as rumor say that most of the dropsuits they have are of Jove tech, Making this Heavy much more menacing to it's foes who dare lay eyes on it.
Shields: 300 Armor: 380 High Slots:4 Low slots: 4
Might come up with more later on. These are just off the top of my head.

A great way to do this, in my mind atleast, would be to add a slot right next to the dropsuit that a shader BPO could be dropped into instantly changing the colour for that fit. These shaders could be racially locked and purchased for AUR, making the game less pay to win and more Pay to Look smexy. Throw together faction/racial packages and even singles and bam! instant monitization that I and several others would gladly shell out some cash for.

Something similar except next to each weapon slot? Sounds great for laser weapons but i think priority should be on dropsuits first and formost.

More Suit Ideas!
Federal Marine Horus
Dark green with light green camo
Description: Nicknamed 'Bigfoot' this heavy suit is specially modified to utilize the power of the shotgun. It's plasma coil power core are directly integrated to increase the power and ammo of the weapon. It is also much quicker than it's heavy counterparts and able to soak up damage for the team. However, It's shields are near non existent, only leaving it's armor as the sole protection. It is also highly vulnerable to long range fire. The suit, although, Does extremely well as a heavy rusher and door buster.
Shields:70 Armor: 350 High slots: 0 Low slots: 3 Speed: 4.65 Sprint Speed: 6.00
Kaalakiota 'Komodo' Assault
Color: Dark blue with Red pin stripes
An elite assault dropsuit made by Kaalakiota Corporation used for battles that need extremely efficient results. Armed with very potent shields and bonuses to Rail weaponry, they are the definition of long range combat. Although they lack in mobility and armor is almost lacking at all, the shield recharge is excellent, and delays are long forgotten on this suit. But like most Caldari suits, are vulnerable to CQC attacks.
Shields: 330 Armor: 100 High slots: 5 Low slots: 3 Shield Recharge: 45 hp/s Shield Delay: 3.79 hp/s Shield depleted delay: 5.35 hp/s
Brutor 'Revenant' Assault
Color: Brown with highlighter orange
Description: True to the Matari way, The Revanant assault is a true Hit n run suit, designed for speed and laying out as much bullets as possible. Superior Recharge rate to even that of the caldari, It does not, however, have as much protection. It relies mostly on cover to cover tactics and flanking manuevers.
Shields: 200 Armor: 175 High slots: 3 Low Slots: 4 Shield Recharge rate: 65 hp/s Shield delay: 4.25 Shield Depleted delay: 5.90
Vherokior 'Vessel' Logistics
Color: green and gray
Description: No one knows how Vherokior corporation were capable of making this highly potent dropsuit, as they tend to stray from big time disputes. But one thing is for sure: It is a very effective logistics suit with good armor protection. Bonuses to the range of the rep tool keep it safe from the fight. However, It is not a combat suit as it relies on only a side arm. However strangely enough, it can holster many grenades which leaves many puzzled as to why this was designed.
Shields: 110 Armor: 230 High Slots: 2 Low slots: 4 Armor repair rate: 10.00 hp/s
Imperial 'Hoplite' Scout
Color: Dark gold plating with deep red
Description: Designed to utilize the full extent of the scrambler rifle's charge shot, This scout is used as a long range assassin on the battlefield. Heightening it's potential, It can OHK most suits with ease. however, like most Amarr suits, it lacks speed, and it does not carry the heat bonus like it's assault comrades. It's scans are superb, but dampening is sub-par due to the most of it's electronics used to scan down it's enemies and use it's deadly 'pot shot.'
