The 0.33 second delay is clearly not enough after observing and experiencing its effects. Several times now I have been the victim of cloaky shotgunners who managed to fire off a shot immediately after decloaking and are able to do it consistently.
Time to increase the delay.

Nope. While I love this patch for shotgunning, due to MUCH better framereate allowing me to actually hit shots and not blue shield flash people all day long, the delay is working as intended.
Iv died several times today because I couldn't get a shot off fast enough from cloak where I used to be able to.
Combined with the range nerf, this is the average scenario where I would die to the new delay:
1. Im running around, trying to find someone to kill/something to hack, or running away from something. Im cloaked. 2. No scan range means that I can't ping the Gal Assault that just came around a corner in front of me. We see each other at the same time 3. The Breach AR begins to pop my shields, and I decloak. 4. I think WOAH need to do something quick. 5. The .33 seconds where I can't shoot allows him to get a shot off, as well as backpedal 2m, making him a 3-shot target, where before I would have had him at 200 armor at this point, and lining up the kill shot. 6. If he misses a few shots, I can still kill him. However, he is at an advantage here, and generally can kill me.

Not really as intended apparently. Have you even been the victim of the cloak shotty recently? I have even seen players squeeze off a shot from their shotgun while their cloak is still on for some reason (might be lag).

Firing after they're uncloaked is fine and dandy. The real problem with cloaked scouts was them firing while still invisible and it wasn't cause of lag as you suggest is the cause for the occasional cloaked firing you've seen since the update.

Probably just lag, and only occasionally, but most times I kill them before they get a killing shot off, unless they manage to sneak up on me, which is props to them, considering after running Scout for the first couple matches I ran Assault.

Called it! I would take what gav says with a grain of salt the .33 sec shouldn't effect a good scout at all. The ttk is and will remain the issue until scouts are side arm only. I mean if they raise it any more the failtard sgers will just drop the cloak after they already ruined it for everyone else.

I've watched mercs suddenly collapse while sniping while no enemy can be seen. Then I spot a scout running off, who had been invisible beforehand. Due to poor rendering over the past week, I've often seen scouts just disappear completely when they cloak - the blue outline doesn't show up either. 1.9 hasn't fixed that for me either. |

What is up with you guys and the side arm only thing? Why in the hell would you cripple a class so badly, simply because it kills you the most? It's not even overpowered. I kill scouts ALL THE TIME in my mk.0 assault, in fact, it's probably the biggest source of my kills.

Why? Honest question.
You have 1800 max eHP, the highest DPS weapon in the game, 25% damage resistance. If we can't kill you, nothing can, EXCEPT ANOTHER HEAVY. It is not easy to shotgun a proto sentinel to death, and if you're straying along trying to be a lone wolf in a heavy suit, then you deserve to die.

No sh*t. I figured it'd need to be more. I lag a full one second behind the actual action. Stuff does not register until a second after it happens. The scout should have a two second delay for firing a weapon after decloak. Come on CCP make the cloak a movement thing, not an attack thing. Dedicated scout assassins can do their thing without the cloak. It really isn't destroying anybody's game play other than FOTM scrubs.

Time to increase the delay. I've been testing this today with a fit that consists of an ARN Cloak and Shotgun (no sidearm) and can confirm that a longer delay is needed. As it stands, I can get a shot off while remaining cloaked.
I'm not sure whether the delay takes account the ability to instead switch from equipment to weapon, instead of manually deactivating cloak AND THEN switching to weapon. |

That's too much. I wouldn't accept that even for my most hated enemy (shotgunners). I was thinking maybe an extra 0.5 second to the already-0.33 second would do just fine. Of course, I don't want to nerf it too badly since I also occasionally use cloaks whenever I have to.

I have to say, tested the SG-cloak mechanic and didn't feel any change. I can shoot immediately. It appears so even before I fully decloak.
Perhaps .5 seconds to a whole second will do some good, though I haven't seen any particular instance of it continuing to be abused. (Two SG deaths I have since update were from behind)

I hate this idea. I dread it even. Not for me, but for those who are not me. I'm a dedicated ninja knifer so I am not going to be affected by this. But others will. I may hate shotgunners a lot, but I don't hate them enough to warrant taking away their shotguns.

Beyond that sg scout really is a skill less play style that subverts awareness, strategy, and gungame with has huge benefits... It would also lessen the effectiveness of strife scouts.
Those two play styles are the reason scouts scouts get so much hate on the forums and the problem is that the scouts just say don't nerf me bro while the none scouts promote nerfs that have nothing to do with the problem they encounter because they have little idea of how the class plays and we end up with poor changes that are sure to destroy the class.

The nerf to cloaks was also the reduction in their scanning ability, was it not?
With the constant scanning going on at the minute, the reduction in a cloaker's passive scan is hardly a nerf - they can see exactly where the enemy is already, as can the rest of their team.
Ive actually seen (and heard squad mates complain about) more cloakers in the past 2 days than usual. I'm hoping that they were all just testing the changes though. |

I don't play scout, well not a proper scout (Way Fast Logi, go!), but even I have to say that taking away a scout's option to use light weapons is stupid. It's right up there with the cries for logistics to be sidearm-only. Yes, there was a call for that during the time of 'slayer logis'. Now logistics are left to do logistics things with light weapon in hand and noone cares. All that needs be done is to find that right balance between cloak delay and weapon activation. Get that and noone will care if scouts can use light weapons. |

I used to solely be a sidearm scout. Ran SMG+NK. Had a blast.
Then the Combat Rifle came out.
BK-42 had more range, higher DPS and cost less PG. Why wouldn't I use it over the SMG.
Make the SMG less PG than a CR, and I would go back to my Six Kin SMG on my Scout fits. Until then, offer is off the table.
After that, I really wouldn't care too much. I would just fit a Min Assault with a shotgun and damp it (I actually already have one of those, it even runs two damage mods on top of it.)
