I was playing today and I realized that Caldari Sentinels will effectively become OP and Amarr will be nerfed.
As it is right now, HMG damage profile is -5 to shields and +10 to armor. Rattati is trying to make it -15/+15.
The Amarr Sentinel's role ever since before 1.8 came out was to be the undisputed king of HMGs. We already have a hard enough time as it is against Caldari because they can regen quickly and get a good resistance to HMGs, which means without a logi and a rep tool Amarr is actually useless.
Technically we are tied with Caldari at resisting HMGs right now. At level 5 Amarr we get +15 armor resistance to projectile weapons. Since they inherently do +10 damage to armor, that means we resist HMGs by 5% just like Caldari do with their shields. Except we also take the proficiency damage in full so that means right now Caldari are technically better than us at resisting HMGs, but not by much because they trade HP for regen ability.
A 15/15 damage profile would completely nerf Amarr Sentinel into the ground. This will upset a very delicate balance.
To be honest if these changes through go and we don't get a respec I will quit the game. Straight up, a 32 million, 1 year Dust veteran will QUIT FOREVER. I seriously will not even play Legion if this happens.

caldari and minmatar are different. they are quite literally more independent and don't need a logi. they are faster and can benefit greater from shared tacnet scans
this will make the shield tanking heavies FOTM and extremely OP. not only will they resist HMGs and projectiles but also lasers, hybrid blasters, hybrid rails, pretty much EVERYTHING IN THE GAME.

Just wait until they go through with it anyways and all of a sudden the sentinels go from being balanced to "OMG CAL SENT OP NERF"

That's ridiculous to expect flux grenades and sidearms to save the day. All a Caldari or Minmatar will have to do is run up into a crowd of Amarr or Gallente and start busting heads. They will do FAR more damage than a shield-based sidearm can do and you'd be lucky to even know when to cook the flux because they outspeed you.
Caldari gets a 15% resistance to laser which does +20 to shields so it only takes +5 from lasers. It also has +10 against hybrid plasma which means it takes +0 neutral damage.
These are the only two things besides fluxes that shield based heavies won't resist. They're not supposed to be that powerful on top of being that fast and versatile. This is not what 1.8 had designed the different Sentinels for.
Think about a Caldari Sentinel that will shrug off even a Burst HMG, or a Minmatar out-strafing it while taking minimal damage.
Do you honesly think being weak and ONLY weak to fluxes will not be OP as holy hell?

WE CHOSE AMARR AND GALLENTE FOR THEIR RESISTANCES.
This is not like Caldari Scouts losing their precision which should be running precision in the first place and don't need any extra boost. This is like taking the Caldari scout's shields away. No one would use it.
This is like taking Min Scout's speed away. This will completely throw the entire Sentinel balance off.

we only have one high slot now. and if cal sentinels play correctly they can get a much higher KDR due to their high mobility, regen, and independence from logis

So we have a Cal sent that has 830-950hp and has about a 50-30hp/sec regen (respectively, which needs a second or 3 to start up), which can all be vaporized in a second by a well placed Flux, vs a potential +1.3k armor + shield buffer and +150hp/sec repair and damage mod Amarr.

EDIT: Oh, and if I didn't get a respec for CCP literally respecializing my Cal scout from under my feet, why would you expect a respec for something as minor as this? Don't be such a drama queen. |

Amarr doesn't get that repair without a logi. Caldari can operate independently of it.

I said multiple times it's a nerf to armor based heavies and specifically mentioned Gallente. Minmatar favors shields because of its innate speed. All sentinels will be forced to run shield extenders.

Most of the people who play the game actually have a life and don't come on here to voice their opinion. So they effectively do not matter especially because they are in the PSN playerbase.

You are completely illogical and won't listen to reason. The HMG resistance is THE ONLY THING AMARR HAS GOING FOR IT and the better of the two Gallente resistances.
Simply put if there are no other heavy weapons than a projectile then it is unfair to make one heavy the weakest against them. As it is right now Gallente and Caldari are tied with being good against HMGs and Minmatar is supposed to be weakest.
If this change goes through Amarr will be absolutely useless.

I'm skilled into the Amarr sentinel on a character I play often. Projectile resistance is a small thing, the real upside is the fact that it has four low slots and tons of fitting space. I don't mind taking a small nerf in the name of balance, Clearly you do.
But with comments like 'This sentinel is supposed to be bad' and 'my sentinel is supposed to be the best' I don't think you understand that every suit should have a viable role In the game, while also having some counters. Don't try to tell me that I'm being 'illogical' when you're supportive of arbitrarily bad suits for no reason other than a like for 'ivory tower design'

It doesn't suck. My friend Jacques Cayton II hardly ever signs on but he chose Cal heavy right when it came out.
He constantly goes 50/2 even in PC matches he gets amazing KDR because he plays the suit correctly. He stacks shield regen and engages from a distance.
Caldari will be running all over the place resisting EVERY WEAPON IN THE GAME and will be one of the worst FOTMs ever.
