Who dies to snipers anymore, lol. Havent been killed by 1 in at least a week.You get pecked at and it annoys you but you move on you dont have to come to the forums and ask daddy ccp to destroy the role. |

oh And once again Apothecary you are wrong.
op means over-powered if that were the case they would not be giving us more power!
they are reducing the range because of players like you that can't deal with them. there are players in this game who don't rely on the red line for safety when they snipe. they are the ONLY ones this will affect. you will still get those red line snipers.
or do you think that people who play for safety will suddenly see the error of their ways?
snipers have been so under-powered for so long that they are a joke. this will just make it worse. |

Wow I must be doing it wrong where are these spots that overlook the objective where i can snipe but not be counter sniped?

I think the changes will be good. I've been using the ish tactical and it's really useful. If they decrease range and buff damage then that will be great for sniping from odd positions. I find it better to snipe closer anyways. Being in the redline means the sniper is simply stealing kills rather than backing up and protecting his team.

The counter snipe argument is just dumb. It's like telling av to just get a tank/ads, wanna kill a scout use a scout, heavys gettin ya down?, grab a hmg. Sniper wants to get some kills? Get within 50m
I wouldn't care if they doubled the SR damage if they cut the max range to 300m ( worked for redline tanks ) and make hip fire worthless so it doesn't become a ******** shotgun.

If you actually read that post, he clearly states they need improved damage. The depth a Thale's can hide in the redline though is an issue as well, of course.

I just started experimenting with snipping deep into the red line i don't normally use the tactical sniper rifle but I'm starting to see your gripe with it. but the real problem seems to be with the thale it functions just like a tactical sniper rifle but hits like a charged sniper rifle of course there pretty rare salvage drops hell i've been playing off and on since open beta and I only got 3 of them. also it's only looks like the red line snipping is only feasible on certain maps just like on certain maps cqc or vehicle's have an advantage. Lower the Thales damage by like 100 to bring it closer inline with the kaalakiota and we should have significantly less tears on this subject and everyone can find something new to cry about. |

Though this may spoil the fun as it may get it reversed as I can already see the QQ coming, i'll say it anyways. If SR range is getting nerfed, but its damage and head shot multiplier is getting buffed, this is going to be a net buff to real snipers. Hell my calmmando with a NT-511 already can headshot + body shot any non-heavy suit, aside from brick tanked ak.0 but brick tanked ak.0 isn't going anywhere fast, much like a heavy. Even other Calmmando's in a proto variant will die with a headshot + body shot. If they do buff damage and headshot bonus, the sniper rifle will probably OHKO headshot any non-basic/sentinel heavy and fully damaged modded charged/thales might even start dropping proto assaults with a body shot. There's only a 10 damage difference from what I remember between my ishokune and my NT-511 which in terms of sniping doesn't really matter. To be honest I'm not sure why I even use the ishokune sometimes. I guess for that occasional adv assault suit that eats a headshot and ends up with like a sliver of hp left.
The best thing for balance to stop noob red line sniping was to make the red line a bullet barrier. Until CCP figures out how to implement such a thing, i'll be enjoying ohkoing suits at 300-150 meters. |

That's not saying that snipers are OP, it's saying that snipers hiding in the red line is a problem and I agree. Snipers whine about how they 'cant kill anything', but they don't ever want to give up range for more damage - no they just want more damage so they can continue to play without any risk at all. The biggest current issue is that the only 'counter' to a redline sniper is another sniper, and even then the red line sniper takes one shot and runs the hell away.
My suggestion - Drop sniper rifle range to 400m (from 600m), increase base sniper rifle damage by about 45, increase headshot multiplier by a little.

That doesn't mean its overpowered. It means exactly what it says. Risk free. Snipers only current counter is other snipers and quite frequently they find spots where there is simply no easy way to shoot at them.
Rattati want's to get snipers onto the battlefield, instead of hiding in the redline and then because they're in the 'meat grinder' with the other roles they can get the damage buffs they've whined about for so long.
