I hated how defenders got the advantage on bridge maps by having that high ground slope down to their home point.
Much prefer it's easier to attack than to defend. As much as i agree, this is just our preference, it makes no sense for the attack to hold the advantage over the defender, it should always be the other way around.
But the perk shouldn't be terrain advantage, not in this game, it gives a huge edge. The advantage should be something small, like 5% increase reload time for defense. :(

but since this is never likely to happen i'm of the opinion flipping districts back and forth because attacker has an advantage just demonstrates neither of the 2 corps is significantly better than the other. whereas a corp may get the best of a corp on one night and because of having defender advantage after flipping can hold out till the other corp has an off night.

When considering attack vs defense, it's almost completely irrelevant that one team may have the excuse of "Not everyone was on that i needed"
A corp is allowed 100+ people without needing too much SP - and you're allowed in an alliance to find more ringers. Dust's PC system should have 0 thought going into any sort of notion that one side has players absent. Especially considering we're a mercenary game - always consider everything as if both teams are ready to go - because they should be, no excuses.
With that in mind - Advantages in of themselves take away from any sort of notion of competition. If your looking for a way to 'even the odds' through different advantages given to both sides you may as well stop, CCP won't be capable of doing anything short of just remaking the programming they already have.
Which brings us back to the OP - sadly, all the old maps are terrible for PC.

I would really love Line Harvest in PC as it, along with Ashland are my two favorite maps to play.
A few concerns though would be the defenders having too much of an advantage with the two covered buildings as their closest flags. Other then that, I would really like to see how/if corps would utilize the towers

All the new maps are too big for PC. We really need 32v32 for those.
Line Harvest gives a huge advantage to the side with the covered letters. The attackers getting this is interesting though.
Ashlands? lol no. Hated that map in the 8v8 days. Race to the area above Bravo and you win.
Definitely bring back green mushroom to research labs. I won't even attack a lab because Lag City is so awful in PC.
Whatever happens I don't want to see rotating maps on districts. Building the team and planning your attack according to the map is my favorite part of dust. |

if we can give no advantage to either side...sweet.
maps like border gulch and fracture road are awesome for that.

You could do it so it's a different map for each reup, and the attackers get to pick the maps when they launch the first attack excluding the final battle which will be played out on the set socket. The defenders also get a mail telling them which maps will be used allowing them to plan for every battle two days beforehand.
Gives the attacker an advantage without having to go into timers and ****.
If that doesn't work do a different battle for each reup but send both sides a notification telling them which maps they'll be fighting on. |

Big difference between changing some map files and a bunch of client changes.

I don't think all the old maps are bad. and I don't think that point has been made adequately. It's just time for a change. What major advantages are there to fracture road and border gulch? Those weren't too bad, just reduce the red-zone a bit, change turret placements.
If this is all we can ask for, then let it be done!
I'm especially excited to see people actually putting turrets into there over-all strategies. I hear several corps have found uses for 'em as a better AV for home point defense.

In public contracts when your waiting for battle and you stay in the battle finder doesn't it say how many points are on the map whether it is 3/4/5, while their wouldn't be any way to differentiate between other 5 point maps it would be a small step towards identifying the map and since it already exists in a form I don't see why it can't be transferred to Corporate Contracts.

These are my suggestions for new maps:
Cargo Hubs
Retain 5 point 3 city, swap out bridge map out in rotation for Fracture Road.
Production Facility
Retain 5 point 3 city, swap out bridge for Border Gulch.
Research Lab
Swap out for green walls 5 point 3 city/bridge map, and line harvest with attackers given the OB shielded objectives.
Thoughts?
