The tactical SRs should keep the new reticle. It's made the tactical a rather lethal tool. However, maybe for the normal Sniper Rifles, put that second scope you listed on them? (Not the Plasma Cannon one, but the really small dot.) Or, better yet, add reticle customization! Please? Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please?

So with Hotfix Charlie we trialed changing the sniper rifle crosshair. Please leave your feedback on the change in this thread.
Initial impressions point us to people not liking the change other than on the Tactical series of sniper rifles. At this stage, we would be looking to revert to the old crosshair on all sniper rifles other than the Tactical snipers, which would retain the new crosshair. In my opinion the new crosshair is great. I haven't found any issues with it and I have seen many smiper rifle kills on the kill feed than ever before. In my opinion the right person to ask about the new crosshair is Nod keras. This guy is OP. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qva5W-COGC8&list=PLDYupuoGmGBHUsyRK5HYxjFxSS84wP787&index=1

btw here is what is wrong with the new circle one it is the same as the laser rifle

However this would create a false positive on when to fire. The bullet has not become any larger, and unless they were in the very center of your "new and improved dot" you would miss. or It appears the dot is larger. However this would make things worse when it comes to lining up shots on moving targets because an accurate dead center point of reference has been completely removed and replaced by the "guestimation circle of poor aiming" .Can you please describe how this will function when it comes to..

- Head Shots on Moving Targets
- Partially Covered Targets
the new one you put up is better just let us try it before and let us see if it is better. just please change the sight back to the old one while we wait on this one please! I love sniping but this present one SUCKS! |

UPDATE: So I went and did some more mad science and I came up with these as a third option:

Or if you rather less clutter:

Thoughts on these as replacement for some or all of the current sniper crosshairs?
Prefer the top one with the lines in tight to the dot

I really don't like clutter.
Thanks for the reply.
How about offering multiple variations of the guns for sale with each of the reticles?
Is this not a possibility?
Technically a possibility, but it would seriously clutter up the market. I'm fine with having different crosshair types for the different variants of sniper rifles (as they need to be different guns anyway) but adding different types just for the crosshair is something I'm not a real fan of doing. On another note, how does this look? Like I was saying, I can push out the size a bit for the extra lines
extra lines to far out

No, the Thales is based off the standard Sniper Rifle. The Balac's Sniper is based off the Tactical variant.

Thank you very much for contacting DUST 514 Customer Support.
This is an Officer's weapon. Please find the specifications for the Balac's N-17 Sniper Rifle below:
-Damage: 250 HP -Rate of Fire: 50 RPM -Clip Size: 7 -Maximum Ammo: 28 -Reload Time: 4.00 Seconds -Meta level 10 -Slot: Dropsuit Light Weapon -CPU: 51 -PG: 13
so looking at both you can see the differents is the thale does more damage, SAME ROF, less in the clip (5), less ammo 25. same on the other stats. lol it does 21 more damage the the ish sr with 2 more in the clip and 3 extra bullets so lol why would you use it? |

I'm well aware of it's stats since I've had the weapon for more than two years now (plus you can also find the stats in other places), and I've told CCP it's terrible compared to the Thales several times in the past two years. That doesn't change the fact that the stats suggests it's based off the normal variant, just like the Thales.

Logibro,
Let's troll the entire Dust playerbase by making the sniper reticle like a Forge Gun's!!!!
Symbiotic,
I think you're being a little too finicky about using the PLC crosshair. The lines aren't big enough to obscure the view of other targets unless you're trying to push the limits of your range by shooting little specks that hardly even render.

Really wish we could test this rather than just look at a screen shot. Would really prefer to see both versions in action before making a definate decision. But if i must choose i would have to say the top one would be more efficient with the proposed changes for sniper rifle range in delta (im guessing more people will come out of the redline) so it will give people and easier advantage on lining up their target for a shot. The bottom option just wouldnt be feasible when your strafing and trying to aim and shoot at the same time. Would also like to see this option on the tactical sniper as well as the charged and standard sniper rifle. But like i said would prefer to see this in action for myself before completely deciding on the reticle.
I snipe in the redline because i know it pisses you off

http://cdn1.eveonline.com/community/DUST/Hotfix/Delta/Sniper_On_Target.png[/img I liked this one the best and would be the reticule I'd recommend implementing. The current circle one is giving me false positives on some of my shots. Previously, I could dragscope and headshot people before with the old reticule, but the one from Hotfix Charlie seems to have issues.

I like the horizontal and vertical lines but the wings on the horizontal lines obscure too much.

How about keeping the new recticle and allowing a shot to hit anywhere inside the circle? This would be an excuse to leave the damage nerf the way it is.
Otherwise, if the old recticle is brought back then increase the damage back to how it used to be. Nerf the thales range and zoom though.

Dont re-engineer the wheel. Reality has already pretty much hashed out the best possible crosshair, make it two thin lines intersecting at the middle of the scope (the third picture in OP is pretty ideal, but maybe add a nice vertical line as well)
Also is there any chance we can make it so HUD karats over peoples head render ABOVE their head in stead of in front of it? Im aiming at that head, I need to see it. This happens frequently with people kneeling down for some reason. |

I really like the top "cluttered" sight, it is a good compromise for those who like the new circle sight and those who prefer the old dot sight.
The new Hotfix Charlie sight took a lot of getting used to and I don't know anyone who prefers it to the old one. It is more affective at close range and moving targets but the rail rifle already does a really good job at that and it has the advantage of being able to be fired from the hip. It would be nice and more realistic if the sniper rifle could be fired from the hip too.
The only way to make everyone happy would be to add scopes to the market next client update, it would be a nice touch to be able to customize any proto weapon with a selection of scopes or a hip fire battle sight. It would be nice to be able to fit a dot scope to use on large maps where you need to take on redline snipers, use the current scope for mid range maps and a Rail Rifle/ Combat Rifle scope for urban combat.

What use are the "wings"? Just do a good ol' fashion crosshairs like on today's scopes. Would be more useful if the "wings" were close to the dot (about as close as the outside of the circle on the present recticle) so they would act as a "lead" line. I.e. When you lead the target you can use the distance of the line and the dot to hit.
