I like that latest picture the most so far..
The lines on the outside edges would give you a peripheral color indication, as well as the dot in the center changing color.
(If anything I'm worried the dot in the center just might be too small? It could be perfect though too)
I do understand not wanting to clutter up the market, just understand that many people have become accustomed / good at sniping with the current interface. Changing that unless it's absolutely better, brings it down to a level of personal preference.

My personal opinion would be to take the Thale's zoom away, and have everything similar to the other weapons. Thale's zoom is wickedly OP.

I like the way all the zooms are balanced currently.
No other sniper rifle has that magnification. (tactical is rather close)
I use the damage it does to make up for the fact that I'm not used to that kind of zoom, or I find myself relocating to positions that are better suited for that variant in particular. I'm very particular about my sensitivity settings when it comes to sniping. Increased zoom messes with that.

I don't like kb/m but when i snipe my sensitivity goes down to 25 all around and then everything else is 100 Lol
However the enhanced zoom would be a great way help to snipers being able to fulfill their duty of death from afar adequately at precisely, instead of being just being out of RR range (exaggeration) However I'm sure you still get the idea. I usually only run my sniper to counter snipe someone or stomp in ambush with calmando, w/ Proto RR and Proto Sniper Rifle (my opinion)

BTW, i like the new proposal, i would eliminate the outside bars and only keep the little dot, my only concern as always is the color, current color doesn't blend with texture and for me it's perfect, the rest is up to you

On the same not would it be possible to get a Navy blue Color for the color of the crosshair? then red when on an enemy?

It looks great! Not only can get a precise headshot but you can also fit in a clones body in the reticule.
I may be asking for too much but how about around 400 meters out?
I only ask because that's the range that you can see most of the field and it isn't overbearing to countersnipe.

Hey Symbiotic I think the dot is okay at the 249 meter range as shown but wouldn't a dot that small be good for hitting those head glitchers and, if you have to, those really far away targets when you can't get closer because of being redlined or a match where it would only waste isk to run in because your team decides to just sit back and wait for the match to end?

Repeating once again, can you try the laser circle - but with the old dot sight inside of it? Essentially you'll have the dot for long range sniping, but you'll have the circle for closer up.

No, the two can not be combined. It's one or the other.

Thanks for suggesting these fixes Logibro. So from what I can tell, you have added the plasma cannon aiming reticule to the small dot sight to help guide our eyes to the centre dot? Is that correct?
I think it adds to much clutter. Less is more. If your concerned that we will lose the small centre dot in daylight maps, can you just add minimal lines at the "north", "south", "east" and "west" of the large centre circle? Essentially the small line at the bottom of the plasma cannon reticule just copy pasted to those four positions? Hope that sounds clear.

I agree that it might be too much "clutter" and I like the idea of the minimal lines to help avoid the dot getting lost sometimes. |

I really love the idea of both of these plc suggestions.
the ones where the lines are extended, is great for less clutter and the outer lines lighting up will help to know your on target when you lose the dot
the one with the closer lines will help to keep track of the dot and could help lining up shots.
i'm gonna be happy with either new scope because the center dot should be more precise.
could we please get these in the game before delta so that we can be decided on it by the time we fix the sniper rifles?
with the tactical variants, the laser scope works quite well but it is also possible that these would work better, until we try them i doubt it would be possible to know. |

Just the dot is my preference. What I really wish you could do would be to make the HUD darker. Instead of the option of turning the brightness up making it a darker color altogether so that in high-light areas you could actually see where the reticle is. This was a problem with the dot before. It is still a problem with the circle now. It will continue to be a problem until the shading issues are fixed.
Regardless of what would be better for the game as a whole, in this specific instance the smaller the dot the better. I care about it being proportional to the size of my target. The smaller it is the more precise and less guesswork I have to do to figure out if the reticle is just light up from proximity or if it is actually on my target.

Dust is my first FPS and have been sniping 95% of the time with a 4.01 Kill ratio overall in 10 months. I run a G/1 Light with the Charge in Skirmish and Dom and adapted to the new sight quickly, but would like to switch between them. Having the Scopes take the Grenade slot and use the R2 to swap them would make more sense than two version of the gun. A second idea is to have the Scopes sold separately for the Advanced and Prototype for the Sniper to choose there preference.

They really don't want to add more clutter to the already cluttered up market.
Imagine a floor with 1000+ marbles..
now imagine it with 3 more marbles..
(HINT: the +3 marbles are the new sniper scopes)
apparently it's just too many marbles..
even if you wanted those additional +3 marbles..

Job well done CCP Logibro on sourcing a hotfix.
Sniper on/off target dot scope with the wingy bits has my votes as a hotfix scope. Allowing more precision enhanvment and range extension (target intel/acquisition) modules to effect the visual intel just a little bit more would be a good thing.
Saw a comment that this was brought about because it's easier to use existing textures, well here is my reply to that... CCP had 12 months to balance / weapon parity re: Minmatar Precision Rifle / fix rendering issues (at least its not as bad as it was) and NOTHING was ever done or changed on any sniper rifle.
Im going to translate the server side update line... copied and pasted for all known issues outstanding from 1.8BETA -- "If CCP wanted to fix the multiple drawbacks/barriers to a viable sniper rifle system in DUST then it would have been done already no matter if we ignored it for 12 months or not.`

Logibro I think the issue with the sniper rifle is it has no vertical and horizontal lines in the circle. If that was added the sniper rifle would be much more effective.
