some people just should not play multiplayer games, that lack of brain activities is disgusting... we already had this "arguments" millions of times and they are still invalid.
if there is a FOTM then everyone already has it, it takes like one week of play to get decent amounts of SP for a new toy. a respec does not change anything in that regard. beside that, last time I played the battflefield was quite diverse, the only thing no one wants to play is assault but that is because the suit just lacks a clear standout. FOTM is just a poor excuse for someones lack of skill, lack of valid arguments and also lack of epeen size.
not everyone is a no life scrub that has time to play one week though. CCP needs money to make Legion and a respec for some AUR is a valid option to raise funds. it would allow newer players without 20-50m SP try out other suits once in a while at higher sp levels.
Maken Tosch wrote: So? Eve Online players suffer the same thing every expansion and they never, during their 11-year history, asked for a respec.
first of all, dust is not eve
second, eve SP gain is fully passive, if you are not happy with your stuff you go play something else for a while, come back after a month and you have a new ship at level 5. try to get a sentinel suit to level 5 with passive SP only (in a reasonable timeframe) and tell me how it works out...
third, if you are really desperate you can farm ISK and then buy a complete new character from another player that suits your requirements |

I waited 2 years for dropsuit racial parity, I then chose my suits wisely and carefully based on their stats, slots, bonuses etc.
I would at least expect an SP refund for these changes (I certainly wouldn't have skilled into them based on proposed changes for Charlie) |

I'm sorry I've been playing eve online for almost 5 years now. You don't need to respec because a frigate isn't going to one shot your battlecruiser overnight. In dust it's quite the opposite. |

The right place and time my advanced stuff can kill protos but when 6 guys in the same suit, weapons and who know what else steam roll the whole team, it's pretty stupid.

Sad thing about most of what your feeling here is completely based on assumptions.
Those same players in a squad that steam roll your team would have the same outcome if they all had plasma cannons. Or if they all had ion pistols and nova knifes.
That is the difference in player level, skill points and team work that is just on a different level then the average Pub is ready for.
Most of these players have their core skills maxed or near to, then worked on proto weaponry. Maximizing the isk investment you make into items, or making them the most isk efficient they can be. CCP can nerf any suit or weapon, with solid core skill your ability to adapt to anything is pretty easy.
In anygame where there is constant development, skill and items get tweaked all the time. This has been happening since the beginning of persistent gaming worlds. Every player gets affected the same and then are forced to adapt and learn the new circumstances around it.
But that actually keeps the game fresh.
In a game like Counterstrike, where everyone is put on equal footing instantly and then have to fight it out with player skill, weapons will have a self balancing mechanism that works with the game to make a somewhat even playing field of choice.
Where DUST is Rock, Paper, Scissors. Meaning everything has a counter essentially, no matter how good you are at some point your stuff will just let you down versus someone that has a perfect counter to your fit.
The argument that everyone is running the same suit and weapon in pubs make most vets laugh.. Other then some red line bullshit, those circumstances are the easiest to create massive killing streaks.
Dust was never ever meant to be the person with the best aim or gear always wins. It has always been the smartest player wins. |

DUST 514's counter-play for dummies.
In one reply I get a guy asking for proof while having a Sig saying Kd/R matchmaking will fix DUST.. Like you couldn't be more obtuse and completely blind to the actual game and how it works and then it's history. Then wanting proof for well established facts.
Then you, who goes wahh wahhh my gun is not as good as it used to be gimme all my SP back like I never used it. Never made ISK from it.. Never advanced my position in DUST from it. I want it like it was brand new! Wahhhhh.

It's not someone's fault if they trained their character "wrong." It's not like there's a tutorial or an indepth encyclopedia of Dust gameplay mechanics and terminology. You forget that for a lot of new players, the way they learn is trial and error (and unfortunately sometimes there's a lot of error). Many of the vets and forum players don't have to worry about that too much because they're reaping the benefits of the forums vast accumulation of Dust knowledge and experience.
And if you say, well, the blueberries better get on the forums, you also have to remember that there is almost no notification of the forums in the actual game. No "come join the forums for more information" etc etc. I bet many don't even know the forums exist or if they do, don't know that it is anything more than people talking about anime or roleplaying (which there's surprisingly little of). |

You're right, there's no tutorial and I agree the NPE isn't the best but come on. If you're looking at the skill tree and see skills that give you more PG, CPU, Armor, Shield regen you might not stop and think "Hmmm, I bet those might help me more that running straight to proto suits?" If you don't use logic, no amount of tutorial will help you.
When I started playing EVE, the corp I joined had just been war dec'ed. I hopped in a shuttle and sat 100 off the station to watch the fighting. I thought "Why would anyone kill a shuttle, I'm not a combat ship" Took about 2 minutes to be slapped with the error of my ways. Ship destroyed, pod destroyed. station...
Dust is the same way. If you can't look at what's in front of you, maybe you should ask questions. It's the mentality that people try and insult others with when saying "Go back to CoD, kiddie" Most people aren't used to a FPS that doesn't hold your hand and lead you along a progression path. The fact that most FPS do the progression for you is what I hate most about them. I want to make a decision on how I PLAY THE GAME, not how the developers think I should (to some extent anyways). I don't need that stupid sight or this gun I'm NEVER going to use.
edit: also, what game now a days doesn't have forums?
edit 2: also, if someone doesn't want to get involved in a corp, that's their choice but their missing out on that wealth of knowledge the bittervets have to pass down. |

Don't brick tank (So you're not slowed down), grab a RR or Scrambler, and you'll find the high shield regen allows you to pick people apart from range
Not the greatest thing though in CQC imo
