Doing so will most likely incline to the new FOTM Pythons with XT1s spamming all across they sky!
I am getting tired on getting into matches where the enemy teams (Mostly 6 man scrub squads) use it as an easy way to get OBs since that thing can take down infantry to vehicles to turret installations (and yes, I read the upcomming patches for Charlie and I know the changes to the OB system and adding more eHP to turret installations)
What I am trying to prevent is a next FOTM. If the price reduction comes into play I can assure you that the ADS will be spammed. And they will be more horrible than the tank spam back in 1.7
Currently taking one out is a challenge on its own. And I have been in countless matches where me and 3 or 4 other AV guys have been trying to take one down be couldn't. All thanks to the Afterburner module.
As soon as the ADS feels one shot it kicks in its afterburners and camps in the flight ceiling for until it's shields (or armor) is back up and comes back down. During the wait for their HP to come back, the Afterburner module has already cooled down and is ready for use very quick. So as soon as the ADS is threatened again it kicks again with its afterburners and making a few twists in the airto dodge the uncomming Forge rounds.
My only problem here is that they have an easy and fast get away to complete safety. A cool down of 10 seconds for the 3 afterburner modules. That is a very fast cool down. You can go easily to the flight ceiling. And as you are coming back down from it, you already have your fast get-a-away to the flight ceiling again.
This can be prevented by increasing cooldown time with these afterburners. Make them 50 secs - 1 minute cool down.
This game should reward the skilled. Not the coward. While yes you may know how to fly and shoot with the ADS, dodging AV fire should be another skill. Not the cowardly tactic of activating your afterburner and camp on the ceiling.
Another counter to this tactic would be lowering the flight ceiling to MCC height. Or a little higher. You can keep your Afterburner cooldown, but the only place you'll have to hide now is outside of the map or inside your redline.
I am just trying to prevent the next FOTM from happening. And this one looks very nasty. And if(when) it happens. People are going to call for a ADS nerf. Which will anger old and dedicated ADS pilots (like myself)
If you are a scout and you only use EWAR then you have my salutes o7

I was in a match, Skirmish, Ashland.
There was this Python with Xt1's I was using my Rail tank along with my ADV Forge Gun while 2 other players sat on top of the rail thingies between B and C and another one shot Swarms at it.
The dropship came down, killed a few people and started twisting and used its afterburner and went back to the ceiling. Only 2-3 shots managed to hit. If its armor was touched it just went back to it's supply depot back in the redline and repaired.

I feel like if they reduce the cost more pilots will take more risks and might not fly away frequently. I don't know how you're not taking down ADS but it only takes a few swarms or forges to keep a ADS at bay. ADS are already easy enough to take out with just the right tactics.

Well it depends on the enemy team. If it's a loan ADS pilot. Than he is easy prey. But when in a squad, where thanks to the amounts of kills the ADS and installations/vehicles destroyed to the ADS, if the have a Logi+Heavy combo. OBs can become VERY frequent.
In the last matched I described, they got about 5 OBs. One one they used on my tank trying to shoot the thing down and the other was used on the Forge Gunners up in the rails. But since they where under a roof they where saved.

Which will become even more impossible for ground troops and ground vehicles to move. A perfect counter to this would have been JETS no changes would be needed. But we know that will never happen in Dust's life time Given that it takes a ton of SP invested in ADS to be even decent I have a slight doubt that it will put more danger to ground. It takes a great amount of skill to be an ADS pilot. In the beginning stages there would be a lot more nooby pilots in the air.

I am just trying to prevent the next FOTM from happening. And this one looks very nasty. And if(when) it happens. People are going to call for a ADS nerf. Which will anger old and dedicated ADS pilots (like myself) I just got to actually reading this whole little paragraph and the rest. Understand that as a veteran pilot (started the first day of chrome) I'm going to attempt to remain as cordial as possible. I've cut out this little tidbit as I want to address these issues.
First off, I didn't fly straight to the flight ceiling. Any pilot worth his salt would know that this is the most stupid thing you could possibly do. I used a little trick I like to call "evasive maneuvers". My flight style is called the drunk hillbilly in case you're interested.
Second off, you've already confessed to having a crap ton of AV on me. At one point, I believe you had two forges, two swarms both ADV, and a red line rail tank on me. With this much AV on me, you should have killed me ten times over. I don't know how you didn't, but apparently, maybe the forges were popping shrooms while shooting me. In the end, you didn't, and I was personally amazed that it didn't happen, as it should have if your AV had any form of coordination other than "hey he's back, shoot him"!
The next FOTM? Half the people I talk to can barely fly a gorgon, and that's one of the easiest things to fly. and on the whole "you couldn't shoot me down" thing. I think I can explain better as to how that didn't happen:
1) Maybe I've been doing this a long time. 2) Maybe I've faced similar situations and know the ADS protocol to fighting that much AV concentrated specifically on me. That rule is this "if the risk is too great, it's not worth it" I understood that your four forms of AV on the scaffolding and rail tank in the back wasn't worth the 500k isk and well over 12mil SP I sunk into my baby Laira (Laira being the ADS) 3) I need to go ahead and address the "cowardly ADS" comment you threw my way. Are you telling me that I'm supposed to stay in your firing range of five forms of AV and stay there while they unload clip after clip into me? There's no cowardice in running away from five forms of AV, it would in fact be stupid if I stayed and unloaded everything I had into you, I even tried doing quick dive bombs. 4) Maybe I didn't spend 3+ (that being minimum) mil SP into a proto suit and a proto AV like you all did. But I did however sink time, trial and error, isk and at least 10 million into my trade and I think I can say that I have proven myself as a pilot.
I've tried to remain as cordial as I possibly could while addressing you, but understand that after all that AV was on me, you should have killed me, and I quite frankly am insulted by being called a coward, and thus I kind of want to throttle you. Again, I'm trying to be nice.

Runnin away from AV isn't cowardly. Heading straight to the flight ceiling is. And I was the one that only dealt more damage to you. And actually I was one of the first to start a "reduce price on ADSs" thread. Back when my properly fitted incubus costed me 800k You can find if you search it. That is if CCP didnt delete the threads from back then.
The thing was that from my POV when you took fire you looked like an ant. Though I liked how you grace through the installation very fast when you came down.

Nothing is wrong with running when you take reasonable damage, Nothing is wrong with protecting your investment, while using it to its fullest extent to maximize its effectiveness. Another thing, I would hardly call myself one of the best, just fortunate (mainly because when I do say that stuff, it always comes to bite me in the nuts).
@ bruwean?- I thank you for the compliment, I worked very hard mastering that, and again, I'll reiterate, I did not fly to flight ceiling. If I did, you would know it. Flying to the ceiling is the single most stupid thing you could do as a pilot.
And on you saying that the price should not be dropped, afraid I can't agree with you on that. There are many people still in this game that would make excellent pilots, had they the wallet I have. Why would you want to take that opportunity away from them when they could become just as good as some of the legends, if not better. Just because nine scrub pilots plague the skies doesn't mean that tenth doesn't deserve a chance.
Heck, I've been teaching two hopeful pilots how to fly. I'm afraid I haven't had much of a chance to see them perform as they do not like each other, and we all have IRL.
And if they are scrub pilots, you wouldn't have nearly as much trouble shooting them down as when you fought me.

Nothing is wrong with running when you take reasonable damage, Nothing is wrong with protecting your investment, while using it to its fullest extent to maximize its effectiveness. What the decrease in price WILL do is....give me a bunch more experimental ADS scrubs to farm with my overly honed tactics from fighting the pros. Game the FK on.
No, no, no. I don't care about the pilot's skill. They have earned that skill. The thing that annoys me is that majority of ADS pilots jump to the ceiling using Afterburners and since they cool down so fast he can jump back there as quickly as he descends.

I also appreciate you backing me on this, it is much obliged. Okay, okay. Then maybe a title change? I don't want people to get the wrong idea. I just want to see more pilots actually evading and dodging AV rather than boosting themselves up to the flight ceiling. Coming back down and going back up as quickly as they came down.
Just re-work the Afterburner's cool down time and this whole issue dissappears.

I am going to guess that you had your militia swarms out and the python killed you instead of running away.
Forges and proto swarms easily send an ADS running and the only thing that lowering the prices is going to do is feed more points to AVers. The ones that do not get taken out by this will get taken out by scrubs spamming ADS and crashing into other ADS because they have to fly like clowns to even have an attempt at a shot at killing infantry.

I see no problems with reducing the price of dropships, then reducing the durability of them as well.
It's what they did with tanks, so dropships are going to follow suit.

Unless, you depend on the scrub tactic of flying to the ceiling for safety? It shouldn't require more than one person to down my python. That's just bad for the game for reasons that have been explained to death. Anyone who subscribes to the idea that it should take at least 2 people to down my python can repeat that to themselves over and over as they bend over and take my python up there ass. (<- So getting banned from the forums for that.)
Buwaro, your testimony of experience on the ground as AV is invaluable. But it is only that, the view of someone on the ground. I recommend you broaden your perspective before you talk of how things should be. Give me a nudge if you ever see me online. I'll let you test drive my python... but you're paying for each one you get destroyed.
