Proper Hit Detection... 5 players shooting at the same time couldn't do any damage to a light frame... May be some server maintenance or something... Framerates on PUBS are lolworthy... Hit detection on certain players from certain Corps... Don't know if its the game or if those players are doing something special... |

Hit detection works. Just completely assbackwards from how you would think it would work. It's more GTA hit detection then Counter-strike.
When your crosshairs "Red" is the only time CCP's servers and your playstation actually says"Ok your bullets will now hit" There is no dynamic hit detection and true hit scan weapons.
In Counter-strike you take your gun and crosshairs to the nearest wall and you fire at it... You see how your bullets travel and how your gun recoils and in what way ... The bullets then fly and behave around the characteristics of that gun in the crosshair, your learn how the bullets fly out of then gun and that is what you aim with.. Here is one of the more famous FPS players in gaming explaining what proper gun behavior looks like in a FPS. Bullets should essentially leave your gun and be able to slow down and see bullet trajectories. But there are only a few guns in DUST that do this.
In DUST? it's completely based off the "Red" crosshair.. Whether you are behind a wall, behind 10 team mates.. As long as that crosshair is "red" bullets are hitting you like they go through EVERYTHING else to get to you.
This is why even when your behind a team mate or walls your still getting hit.. Not because the server has your position different then your client. That is just a Cop out.. That would mean I would have to be in a completely different area on the server registry and so would my attacker by same theory and then how are the bullets tracking and hitting, how could the weapons actually be true hit scan weapons?
It's pretty evident CCP Wolfman just put a giant band-aid over the Aiming and hit detection mechanics of DUST... So even the way bullets register are completely ass backwards from any competitive shooter people where brought up on.
The Aiming and Hit detection mechanics of DUST in Chromosome made sense and created the sense of competition and player delivered shots. Uprising Aim assist and Hit Detection feels like someone is playing a giant joke on you when your playing.
It literally is the sole feature of this game that has created more rage quits then anything. Matchmaking has nothing on the poor concept and then implementation of the Aiming system and hit detection system of DUST 514.
I Do hope that goes on CCP Wolfman's Resume when he leaves. Cuz he did the same thing to MAG's hit detection when he worked there. |

You would just lack matches of any support roles what so ever.
Matchmaking needs to be done based on skill points. It's the only way that has ever been done successfully in any RPG PVP based game. And luckily DUST has the ability to do so.
You don't jump into world of warcraft.. play to lvl 20 and then they dump you in Battlegrounds with lvl 90's. It would make 0 sense.
Pretty much same situation here... There is no reason a player with 5 million skill points and under should be thrown into matches with a bunch of players who have 40-60 million skill points.
I would of loved a little more separation in the population, but it's to lacking in numbers currently to really split it any further. The Idea is more to create a new generation and group of DUST players that got to actually learn the game upto 5 million skill points before dumped into general population. |

A new game mode. Ambush is just a massive zerg fest with horrible spawns, Domination quickly devolves into heavy spam or roof camping and is almost always extremely one-sided. Skirmish I spend most of the time just looking for people to kill. |

Very true... Counter Strike vs Dust is like comparing a shooting game vs Farmville... lol Hell even Serious Sam Had better hit detection.... I forgot about the Walls... The Proper aiming systems... Even now when i play BF4 or any other shooter after playing Dust, i get my ass handed to me for the first few rounds...lol
I've been shot behind Containers... I ran away from the area in a scout suit, but that HMG bullet spray followed me... You know the Circular buildings and Domes ?! I've had bullets follow me around the the curve... I shot at someone from behind, the person sprayed before dying, but those bullets followed me around the curb lol... and people feel L33T doing that... |

High KDR players do play the Support Role, They flank the Red Dots, Drop uplinks (Not the ones you see on roof tops or the ones facing the wall or the ones infront of Red Uplinks)
They also play the support role by keeping the other predators away... |

I think you have network issues. I can count on 2 fingers the amount of individual games I've had with your problems in over a month. All the complaints about lag/glitching/lag switches... I never see them. I was amazed to see this start popping up again a few weeks ago. I don't have some super connection to the web but I do have a properly configured network with a wired connection to my PS3. If you can get a wired connection, it helps immensely

Seriously, even MARIO KART has it. In fact I'd say that Mario Kart 8 has the BEST matchmaking system I've seen.
If you place high you get points. If you place low, you lose points...but not as much as if you were to pllace high If you have a high amount of points and you win against a bunch of noobs with low point totals you don't get many points for winning...which discourages experienced players from playing against noobs. You also lose a lot of points if you lose against noobs. If you have a low point total and you win a race against a bunch of higher leveled players you will earn a lot of points. If you end up in last place against these players, you won't lose many points at all.
I seriously don't understand why a skillpoint based matchmaking would be a bad idea. Your skill points don't rise very fast over time, and a noob who let his account sit for 6 months would still be under 5 million sp. Even if they made it so that there was only two ranges...players with under 10 million sp and players with over 10 million sp, it would still make things a TON better than they are now.
10 million is debatable, but considering the vast majority of players having upwards of 30 million sp or more, at least the noobs wouldn't ever have to worry about running into them for a very long time. And best of all, us veterans don't have to worry about dumb blueberries taking up precious space in our matches.

Not everyone is a killer. Average War Points per minute is a better stat to use for matching players.
At the end of each match, the rankings should be in order of war points per minute due to the fact that an outstanding player could get thrown into a match with 3 minutes left and achieve 500 WP, which is an excellent contribution to the team, yet appear low in the standings in the current ranking system (absolute WP earned in match).

wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to complicated.
This isn't JUST a FPS game. Where your trying to measure everyones slaying ability then match them up based on that.
Dust isn't even completely about slaying.. Support plays near the same vital role and often doesn't score kills or WP's in abundance.
Then we start looking at how vehicles and AV works.. and how they completely score differently then mercenaries in every way.
This game is also a MMORPG like FPS game. So everyone is leveling their toon to then play a FPS game. You wouldn't have a new player Join World of Warcraft.. Level to lvl 20 and then through them into battlegrounds with a bunch of level 90's. It just wouldn't make sense.
Same issue in DUST.
Trying to segregate slayers out of the general population so they have to go play themselves in a perpetual group will hurt the learning curve of this game more then simply giving a place for new players to have a chance at competition. |
