Pre-heating is a mechanism that is again situation ally effective. Sometimes I pre-heat will tear a suit apart and others its better to be applying damage throughout the duration of the lasers beam.

Additionally the way you engage a foe depends on your suit type and as I use the Commando I like to be damaging them for most of the latter duration of my beam.

running the amar assault that last 20 rounds can ammount to a few kills all on its own..for example your firing ona heavy you killed him you see a guy maybe 30m to his right still firing you swing your beam on him..(your now in your last rounds on the assault) the beam touchs him bam hes dead i almost always get a kill in the first 60 rounds of my beam and i always get a kill in the last 20..

at max ive squeezed 9 kills into a single beam post 1.7

Sorry I haven't squadded with you either before....or in a long time so I guess I couldn't have known.

Eitherway I will be on one weekend, this one however is for relaxation since its the end of the month and work is insanely stressful in the office.

If I do compete it will be in weekend 2 or 3 since 4 will be around when the Destiny Beta starts......and so far Destiny looks very pretty.

I guess with the guaged nanos you can worry less about wasting ammo. Better strategy than I had. You just happen to be that person :P yeah like i said i use my strafing for small aim adjustments with my lr. and im truly flattered but i hope im not the best with it. death touch will be your last 20 rounds for almost all suits...cal scouts minnie scouts minnie assaults all can be deathtouched much earlier in you beams firing time ive deathtouched a cal scout at round 40 out of 80 at round 60 i got jumped by 3 scouts running 2 running rifles 1 running shotty..i spun in a circle completely reactively i did not mean to do this but i death touched all three of them the closest was 15 m away even in cqc the lr when its cooking is doing over 300 dmg a sec. i dont have my ps3 or the info or patience to do the math on the lr. but maybe someone can the efficacy has made death touch possible from 22m-120m

As a full time (when not in tank) Commando I should be soaking up fire so that those bullets are not directed at the rest of my squad, and I should be right in the middle of things where the bullets and lasers are flying thickest..... I'm much better than when I started, but I can still improve. I can now let go of the trigger about 10-15 rounds before I overheat without ever looking at my heat meter, but sometimes I let go just as I'm overheating, so there's still room for improvement. On my Amarr assault, that's 70 rounds of worry-free firing, can't imagine using the laser rifle on any other suit, as 50 rounds don't do as much. So with the laser rifle the damage per shot increases the 'base' and then is multiplied by 1.05 which redefines the new 'base', then (1.05.87) which once again redefines new base etc. So the last 20 rounds on an amarr assault do something like 1500+ damage by themselves.
