Pre-heating is a mechanism that is again situation ally effective. Sometimes I pre-heat will tear a suit apart and others its better to be applying damage throughout the duration of the lasers beam.
Additionally the way you engage a foe depends on your suit type and as I use the Commando I like to be damaging them for most of the latter duration of my beam.

Additionally the way you engage a foe depends on your suit type and as I use the Commando I like to be damaging them for most of the latter duration of my beam. her knowledge her knowledge :) i really hope i see you running lr for the event true would make my day to duel you running the amar assault that last 20 rounds can ammount to a few kills all on its own..for example your firing ona heavy you killed him you see a guy maybe 30m to his right still firing you swing your beam on him..(your now in your last rounds on the assault) the beam touchs him bam hes dead i almost always get a kill in the first 60 rounds of my beam and i always get a kill in the last 20.. at max ive squeezed 9 kills into a single beam post 1.7
Sorry I haven't squadded with you either before....or in a long time so I guess I couldn't have known.
Eitherway I will be on one weekend, this one however is for relaxation since its the end of the month and work is insanely stressful in the office.
If I do compete it will be in weekend 2 or 3 since 4 will be around when the Destiny Beta starts......and so far Destiny looks very pretty.

Whenever I run my laser fit I always find myself just using my SMG most of the time.
That's how I stand on fights. As a full time (when not in tank) Commando I should be soaking up fire so that those bullets are not directed at the rest of my squad, and I should be right in the middle of things where the bullets and lasers are flying thickest.....
But I'm also a proponent of Fortifying the **** out of things. Every Commando should be like a bastion, no one should be able to take you, and no one should be able to withstand any fire power you throw at them.

I've mained Amarr Assault since Uprising and used the Laser in Chromo.
Aero did as well.
Maikyl is older than both of us and has been using the Laser since his toon was born.
T12 does the same, Arrach does the same, Malleus is an Amarr alt, he does this, Aisha used Lasers, Humble Seeker uses lasers.
You never said primary weapon, only that players laid it to rest. I never did and its been in my rotation since Chromo, alongside tanks since Uprising 1.2.
I don't play pubs, I don't play PC, only FW and only for Amarr.

It's not even about RP.
I just like having a sense purpose.... PC doesn't do that. It's just pointless organised battles.
If we could organise Timers for fights in FW I'd be much more happy since I am typically complaining in squad chat about how we only get a real fight every so often....
I'm just happy the corporation I am in acts with a set goal, acts professionally in the pursuit of those goals, and is not just and average "clan" of gamers.
Also how is PIE Inc supposed to base out of Minmatar space...... it would be a bloody disgrace to do so.... and I don't think I'd even leave PIE Inc even if Viktor "Richpants" Hadah Jr hisself offered me a billion ISK to do so.

When I roll infantry its certainly a core piece of my arsenal and always has been, especially now I'm a protoed out Commando. It's certainly a hall mark of playstyle that I am regularly considering as I fight. I do so love to melt people with beams of light.
And when I get and Tank with a Massive Beam Laser I imagine I probably won't go back to the hand held variant.

And yes, it is a very underused also unappreciated weapon in 514. Even having a competent L Rifleman in your squad adds a layer of suppression and flanking that you cant get otherwise, even if said rifleman isn't a brawling slayer.
I prefer the Mass driver.
