What purpose does the candidate chat serve?

The CPM is an elected body of seven members, but it only becomes a body once elected. Until the community at large select those to represent them; we are members of that same community just like everyone else, which we remain even after we are elected. We are simply individual players with an interest to assist the game; Nothing more. Being a candidate is not a position, it is a label. A simple sign of intent, and one that we give ourselves; not one that has been earned. Until the community decide that we are something, we are nothing. We must never seek to separate ourselves from them, elevate ourselves above them or decide things in their absence.

Anything I need to say about the elections, the process after or to anyone involved I would like to say out here, in the public sphere. I cannot envision anything I would need to say to a candidate that cannot be said in the communityGÇÖs space for all to see. Here the players can judge me on everything I say and how I treat my fellow candidates. Nothing hidden, no closed doors, no hidden agendas.

I would be glad to take part in pre-election events or to talk openly with the other candidates, but I must politely decline the invitation to join you in a private channel.

A simple "no" would have been easier, besides its more a of a social channel than anything else so in the event that you do get elected, then you will already know the others who also get elected and be on friendly terms rather than neutral

I don't know, I think it's easier to converse in a chat client or squad voice than a forum thread that isn't going to notify me of new replies. And squad voice is certainly much more private than a Skype chat of 20 people. I mean, should you desire, you're welcome to be in there just to see whether or not there is anything suspicious in the channel or not.

Any player in the game can talk to me here. If the players or the candidates cannot get to know me, or my views through open channels : twitter, YouTube, the game or the forum, then I will have failed. If anyone in your channel feels they are best known via your channel, or that the forums do not convey them to each other as well as your channel does; then they have failed.

Early on, Jaysyn Larrisen asked us if we had in-game channels where people could go to find us if they want to squad with us or whatever and ask us questions or what have you. So we all had different in-game channels for that, and then I think it was one of the candidates no longer running who suggested we all use the same channel for it.

Considering Judge Rhadamanthus earned his celebrity through producing excellent Dropship flight training videos (NPE), and making videos to present well thought out analysis of balance issues (Balance), he certainly canGÇÖt be dismissed as a GÇ£Celebrity candidateGÇ¥. I have also followed his posts, and they are generally just as well thought out as his videos.

I hope the Judge works well with others, because he certainly has the intellect and communication skills make an very good CPM member.

Could you please clarity that for me. Are you saying that because I decided to decline the voluntary offer to join a single chat channel that this is a clear indicator that I cannot strongly support the players as part of the CPM? Or was it mandatory to join?

the level of suspicion in his posts makes me wonder if he was expecting an American style election with attack ads and supper pacts.
