LOL, even today, can you build a computer that will beat a PS3 for less than the cost of a super-slim (~$260 with a free game)? I know the fact that windows will be $100, blurray drive at least $50, and blurray playback software being another $50 only leaves you with $6-70 for case, MB, KB/m, CPU, GPU, PSU, RAM, oh and thats right... you need that 1 year warranty on everything so that means brand new components.

PS3 > a GPU. a PS3 by itself will play games, watch movies, surf the internet, stream/share local media, print, you know... a great deal of stuff (not anywhere near as much as a computer, but stil a ton of stuff). A GPU will do nothing without it's surrounding components, you really can't compare just a GPU versus an entire console.

On point 3. Yeah I am going to need a source on that on right there. Also, for a handle see the gamecube.

IWS, I have question. Is it best to go with Pentium instead of AMD? I like AMD because of the price, but I can't help but look at pentium as the better choice.

I can't believe people believe that what is to be achieved with Dust can be realized only through a dying last generation console that's years behind in tech.

How are those Civilization games? Sim City 4? Total War: Shogun 2? Starcraft? LoL, Dota, TF2, Counterstrike? Oh wait, you can't play any of those incredible games. That's too bad.

Funny part is some games are defined not by their looks or graphics engine even. Some are defined by the quality and vision they bring to the table. I mean wtf Pokemon is how successful?!?! You could achieve it's graphics quality on the original console. Did newer technology make the Star War Epilogue better? It gave us Jar Jar Binks...JAR JAR BINKS!!!

As I stated in other posts, PC gaming isn't the achilles heel for CCP and Legion; if Legion is supposed to be what Dust should have been, then they are simply saying they are building a game using untested ideas and approaches that only in sound bites is it truly a great game. We could be wrong, a lot of us, about Legion and I won't argue that. I am arguing though that abandoning one project and then attempting the same project in spirit using the experience and knowledge from a supposed "broken game" is never a positive point or highlight you want to advertise.

CCP can have all of the advanced technology it needs and wants but if you can't have the core mechanics and basics down what use is it? I can really only think of one company that's saved itself from releasing something bad and making it better but they also took the right approach and started with the idea that if they want to make a game that they need new ideas and fresh perspectives; no one can create a game that caters to everyone but if a game can find the middle ground where we want to participate and can enjoy ourselves then it is a success.

If you want a PC analogy if you have all the hardware and tech in the world but the only OS you can install is windows 95 you'd just want to cry on the inside. I could forgive CCP if dust wasn't as "flashy" if they had better core fundamentals down and they don't. A game will ALWAYS be behind the hardware curve and that will never change but if you have the core basics down and build from there ppl will stay and support you. CCP doesn't have that and changing hardware and tech won't change it either.

Because if I wanted Dust for PC I'd care more about Legion. But I don't and it could be called a personal preference or being stubborn but I also judge the quality of the games by the company in all of their fronts: Duken Nukem's re-release was horrible and that company earns my vote to never buy a release from them. Square-Enix redeemed themselves with FF14:ARR and Tomb Raider. I think FF14's first release was far worse than Dust but they've jumped miles ahead of CCP on the communication, expectation and keeping players informed.

CCP really is on lifeline with how I support them now. I have an i7 build running SLI cards so it's a beastly gaming rig. But the point I will make is what use is buying into Legion or even Dust right now when you can't really look at CCP and believe they won't have your interest in mind? When stuff got problematic on Dust rather than run into "fix it" mode they gave us cloaks....Instead of interviewing and investigating the Gek-38 imbalance they gave us Railguns...How company approaches obstacles is a criteria all gamers like to sit down and talk about and use as a point of contention with CCP.

Their pr is horrible right now, they're barely surviving public scrutiny [because only presidents should have a sub 50% approval rating without getting fired] and they're intentionally going to abandon a large quantity of their current playerbase to move onto a concept, Legion, that's built upon a semi-broken concept, Dust.

You don't have to be a PC, console or hybrid player like me to look at this and scratch your head with a "wtf" exclamation mark on your head. Surprisingly this is by far NOT THE WORSE thing a company has done; HP saying they plan to stop making PC's was and we all know what happened to their CEO. CCP has stopped WoD and now can't even handle Dust, I'd be worried if I was them. This is far worse than when they released EvE:Incarna because working on game updates and material no one wants is a waste of resources.

There's plenty of reasons to choose one gaming platform over another, but the ridiculous reasons listed in the OP are just so insanely misinformed and asinine. It reinforces the ignorant and delusional console gamer stereotype that I thought we had gotten away from.
