1. the pc and accessories aren't standard gives an unfair advantage to those with better rigs
2. you have to upgrade much more frequently then consoles
3. you can't play with your friends in person only online which doesn't matter if your playing a single player game but still your not going to pack up your pc and go to a friends house like you can with a console, plus i enjoy a good 2-4 player co-op game

Having played a bunch of both over the years, I much prefer online shooters on a PC. Not only are the inputs way better (i.e. MKB), but the quality of game and the rate of updates tend to be superior as well.
They are more expensive, though, and require more care and feeding (i.e. windows) than a console. |

doesn't really matter too much, a keyboard is a keyboard, mouse dpi will help some, but in grand scheme of things meh
Quote:2. you have to upgrade much more frequently then consoles
i'm running a old dell 755 with amd proc that is a couple gen's old, 3 year old video card. I can play warframe, eve, dayz, rust, kerbal, etc. Some games I have to tweak visuals down, others not. Depends on the game.

I also have a laptop (that outdoes my desktop) very easy to pick up and bring to a friends to play some AoE or whatever on. Don't have to deal with split screen at all.
Aside from playing the occasional exclusive, my ps3 is nothing more than a netflix machine. One of my ds3's is permanently hooked up to the pc for playing skyrim.
If you want to argue one is better than the other, basically say everyone has a preference, but don't spout facts that are incorrect. |

I've been playing Multiplayer FPS since before the internet, and I prefer my non-hackable console. My OS is optimised for gaming, and my updates seemless-and my data is automatically backed up via Plus. SONY will even replace off warranty equipment.
The real question is how many GOTY titles have you, the PCmasterbaters, missed in the last 10yrs. You are so oblivious to the facts your vane arrogance compels you to post.
CCP is simply incapable of competing in the AAA console world- so a decision was made to fall back to the PC.

Xander Mercy wrote:1. the pc and accessories aren't standard gives an unfair advantage to those with better rigs This phenomenon is not exclusive to the PC, although it is quite a bit more pronounced.
Xander Mercy wrote:2. you have to upgrade much more frequently then consoles You don't have to. If you have a gaming PC on par with the current-generation of consoles, you should be able to play almost any game reasonably effectively and with decent graphics, even if you don't upgrade frequently.
Xander Mercy wrote:3. you can't play with your friends in person only online which doesn't matter if your playing a single player game but still your not going to pack up your pc and go to a friends house like you can with a console, plus i enjoy a good 2-4 player co-op game For those who enjoy co-op console games, you make a good point.

I've never dropped my desktop PC, nor my PS3. I'd say this is mostly a non-issue unless you like towing your PC around for some reason. Laptops are generally pretty durable, though.

1. Console Tournament Controllers would like a word with you. They're about 140 usd a pop.
2. Once you invested into a computer full atx case the cost of upgrades if you are trying to remain relative and able to play the latest coming out at acceptable console level graphics half as frequent and half as expensive. To continue to out play console games you would then need to update just as much at just as much.
3. Nvidia shield would like a word with you; also PCs invented Lan parties.
4. I have a intel 286 in the garage, it runs a radio scanner program and dos still; however I am running out of floppy drives to do stuff with it. I also have a 368; a 486, and pentium 1, and pentium 4 operating around the house doing their own things i think my P4 is my current part tester machine. I've got an old amiga 3000 that's still fully functional, does that count as a PC these days?
Also of the 3 PS3's in my group of friends, two have had to be replaced.

A better rig will give people more eye candy, but competition is about framerate, sometimes resolution and field of view, a person with a "smaller" rig can just reduce detail to up framerate.

1: That's the point of the system. It's not hard to buy and build a $1500 rig, it just takes a little more work, (I got mine within a week with leftover money for games, and that wasn't even out of my regular income).
2: I've had my PC for 3/2 years, and it is still stronger than the PS4......
I call bullshit.
3: It's called a mini rig with a split screen game. Wait, who would seriously like to play split screen? it was lame back then, and it's still lame now.
4: if you have it at a place where it won't fall, then maybe it won't get damaged?
All I see is ****** excuses tbh.

It is almost like they are totally separate things that have different markets and targets.
They totally are. Consoles have always been "plug and play" and never having to worry about being able to run a game. PC allows greater customization generally. You see that with posts on the WOW forums about using the racing wheel in PvP and stuff. They both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Why are you having an argument about this on a forum where every participant has a ps3? If you can't see that common ground is the only point of you can start from. Dust514 is not a PC game your on a console game/forum. Legion is not a console game. None of this is about which is better or worse or how to build one or which cost more.
The one thing we all have in common is ps3 if you want to talk about dust or it's future stay here. If you want to build a computer and name price quotes take it to the other forum along with Legion.
Good. Use your aggressive feelings, boy. Let the hate flow through you.

Hey look it is the CPM that likes to report people, the one who is pretty much always provably wrong. Let us begin
1. That is not a counter-point. You can spend 140 USD to have a controller with programmable turbo and maybe a few functions (that fail more often than they work) or you can buy a PC rig that will not have any framterate issues, along with bots that are about a million time ssmarter than a controller. That is not even close to comparible. Next.
2. GPUs cot as much as consoles typically, The 9800 GT has trouble with some games that the PS3 plays, and that is 3 generations newer than the PS3. While a 7870 has about the same specs, it will not be able to keep up with a PS4, as history has shown us again and again. Next.
3. NVidia shield is not-upgradable, and it is android. Next.
4. PCs ARE less portable, and ARE NOT as sturdy, are you really trying to say otherwise? I have a colecovision that works just fine. It has gone through 3 generations of KIDS and is still fine.
Also, this entire post is just another good example of why you should be ejected from REPRESENTING CONSOLE GAMERS ON A CONSOLE GAME. You are a PCmasteracist.
