It doesn't sound like it.
Watching CCP Rouge onstage during the beginning of CCP Presents was painful. It was obvious the massive blowback from "the announcement" had reached up as high as Hilmar and that he was being forced to do damage control. They basically interrupted CCP Presents so he could fix what he had broken.
All of a sudden Dust was still being supported "some" and they would "try" to find a way to migrate Dust characters "if" they went ahead with the project. But it was all shockingly non-committal. He rocked back and forth nervously and was obviously under a ton of pressure.
We now know how CCP does business. If they don't see the right metrics and momentum I doubt EVE: Legion ever sees the light of day. Their stockholders already saw the snafus related to World of Darkness and Dust 514 on the PS3. They won't let EVE: Legion take up valuable developmental time if it won't be solvent.
Funniest part? The ready-made community they "would have" had if the announcement had been "we are porting to PS4" has now turned on them and now only a tiny portion [of what was a tiny community to begin with] will support the game on PC. The majority of people will probably just troll the forums and show them the console version of scorched earth policy. |

That's my thinking. If Dust only managed to hold CCP's interest for 12 months after release then what's going to make them live up to the vision presented for Legion? This is not the Eve Online-CCP that sticks with it through good and bad times, this is a different philosophy at work here. |

If they really are unsure that Legion will ever be a commercial project, it seems weird to also basically give up on Dust at the same time. Now they've got two games that are sort of being worked, both with futures up in the air.
Doesn't seem like a good way to make a strong or successful game. If you're going to can Dust and work on Legion, fully commit to it. Don't do this, "Well we don't know what we're doing or what it will be." Otherwise we could end up with a **** game again, or even worse, no game at all. |

If they don't move forward with Legion then Mercs on the Ground is dead in the water. DUST has no future, it is technically impossible for them to achieve the dream on this system under the watch of Sony. It will never happen, and they have already admitted to it.
So, either Legion is a go, or the entire idea gets scrapped.

I really hope for CCPs sake that they man up and make a solid commitment to move forward with Legion.
Seriously, how mind-numbingly stupid do you have to be to so thoroughly and publicly alienate you current customers, based entirely on a game that is in such an early state of development that you're not entirely sure will actually make it to release, or when?
I hate to sound so negative, but part of me hopes that this whole fiasco has set CCP on a course that ultimately ends in bankrupcy, because no company that makes such obviously poor decisions deserves to remain in business.

They're taking all their attention away from Dust, and giving it to a project they're not even sure will amount to anything.
That simple fact should tell us that they care next to nothing for Dust 514. They may just let both versions die.

I think now that it's going to be on PC it could become a Project like Eve Online for CCP. No more dealing with shitstorms because they don't have a testserver. They can use Singularity for Legion too. No problems with giving Sony patches first so they can test it. I think CCP made Legion so they have more control over what they do, because they noticed with the way they had to handle patches on the PS3 it would be very difficult to see that vision come true. But they wweren't able to call it Dust because of legal mumbo jumbo I guess.
Now that they guaranteed us our Character transfer I say let Legion come. I'm still interested in the details of that transfer though.

For those of us who played EVE in 2011 this fanfest is a bit like Deja Vu. CCP got a little too big for its britches and decided to ignore the playerbase because they felt their vision was more important than customer feedback. Here we are 3 years later and CCP Shanghai is having their Incarna moment.
I'm pissed off like most of you but I also know that CCP Shanghai is going to become more malleable in the next few months. They'll start to really listen to player feedback. They'll become more attentive to complaints. Suddenly, things that were too technically challenging will become possible. It's amazing what fear of unemployment does to a company.
Now, we can get mad and **** our pants and swear to never buy a CCP product ever again. We're certainly justified in feeling that way. Or we can can dry our faces off and hold Shangai's feet to the fire and make sure Legion isn't a horrible flop like Dust. Legion might work, it might not, but we gain nothing by salting the fields and burning bridges.

Legion is a done deal. it will be made. Look at the Focus theme they went with and the launcher proposed with all three characters available on PC. Valkyre, Dust, and Eve. I would not bet against Dust514s days being numbered. The good news is they will port over everything (they can) over to Legion once its time. |

If I had left after Incarna I would have missed out on 2 years of amazing ship rebalancing, new graphical updates, tiericide and new ships.
I've been with Dust since private Beta. I'd be lying if I said Dust was anything but a disappointment month after month. At least CCP sounds like they're committing to the sandbox instead of a lobby shooter with Legion's move to the PC. Granted, I'll be hesitant to drop any significant cash on Legion until I'm certain they're serious. Unfortunately, CCP's choice of blindsiding their playerbase really hurt whatever trust they've built up with the community and that trust will be hard to earn back. |

With Legion CCP is admitting it failed in that vision, but I'm sure CCP is happy about all the coverage they foot that allowed them to scam more of us. I guess we were sold on different visions.
I never gave a single crap about this game being on console. I care about persistence, about connection to EVE, about exploring planets and making a difference in New Eden. I care about having a gorgeous environment and high frames per second. I care about massive battles.
Console or PC, I do not care: I just want that vision realized.

I think, we all realized back before the official 'release' that Dust514 was going to have a limited life. How many threads did we make about Dust514 needing some kind of a next-gen strategy? Well, apparently they granted our wish. And are somewhat implying now that the reason the vision of Dust never materialized was the PS3 architecture (which could be completely valid given the strangeness of that system's memory handlingGǪ).

We (console users) are just as upset as the PC users were when they found out that this was coming to the PS3, only more so having spent time and money on Dust itself.
I get where you are coming from, but I can't for the life of me see how you can so easily put aside the fact that a lot of people spent a lot of time and money on THIS version on THIS console, both under the premise that CCP was committed to it in the short to mid term.
Now it is not only obvious they are not committed, but that they KNEW they were moving on months ago, and continued the charade.
Stop being myopic and look at the whole picture from not just your perspective, but of those that have been blindsided and are righteously angry.

I'm one of those people who put money (not a lot, $90, but still) and two years of my life into. I understand why people are upset, and as I've voiced time and time again in the past day, the REAL problem with all of this is CCPs approach and lack of communication on the subject.
I for one have always felt that the PS3 was holding this game back, that it would NEVER achieve the vision that was presented to us, so I personally anticipated something along these lines quite some time ago, and adjusted accordingly.
I'm not telling anyone to not be pissed, they have every right to be. I'm just saying I'm excited that for once, "DUST" has a chance to be what it was once envisioned to be.

I think many of us naturally, if wrongly, assumed the transition would be to the PS4.
I would be willing to bet that had Legion been introduced as the logical development, and was coming out for the PS4 in the future, the raging would have been significantly reduced, if not practically non existent.
I don't think that would have upset me at all, given that many people will naturally transition from the PS3 to PS4 anyways.
I understand why they are going PC, but I think it could have easily, and more appropriately, been heading towards the PS4.

I hope CCP Shanghai will put their all in Legion, it has a better future than Dust on a old console. I don't get why people want it on PS4 and not on PC, you can get a decent PC to play games on for the same price of a console these days.
