Seriously, how mind-numbingly stupid do you have to be to so thoroughly and publicly alienate you current customers, based entirely on a game that is in such an early state of development that you're not entirely sure will actually make it to release, or when? I hate to sound so negative, but part of me hopes that this whole fiasco has set CCP on a course that ultimately ends in bankrupcy, because no company that makes such obviously poor decisions deserves to remain in business. SMH I think they are on the path already and what we are seeing is them running around like dolls trying to figure out what rip do about it.

After emotions die down some of us are going to try and make Legion succeed. When? 2020? Being on the PC won't magically give CCP any idea how to design better game modes or become better at balancing the existing content. It'll just look prettier. It actually will help somewhat, as CCP won't have to answer to Sony when doing updates, and can actually have a test server.

All I know is that DUST can never be much more than it is now, and Legion is the only logical next step forward. I know, I agree with you. Dust is finished and is never coming back. But when you just announce a new game that is essentially cancelling out the current one, I don't like to hear someone say "hey this might not work either." Although I also see your interpretation of it. My point is that clearly they are focusing on Legion, but they just seem afraid to admit it. Sure maybe it doesn't become a commercial product, but it's still the teams primary focus, be confident about it. I agree. I think they're kind of nervous right now after the **** storm that ensued after the reveal. I just hope they throw themselves into Legion completely, because that's the only way the original vision of DUST will become a reality. The original vision was to connect a PC game to a console game. That is what got them gaming media attention and free advertising when most mainstream gaming sights usually ignore CCP unless some giant battle happens in Eve. With Legion CCP is admitting it failed in that vision, but I'm sure CCP is happy about all the coverage they foot that allowed them to scam more of us.

Or we can can dry our faces off and hold Shangai's feet to the fire and make sure Legion isn't a horrible flop like Dust. Legion might work, it might not, but we gain nothing by salting the fields and burning bridges. I see we're discussing the right issue: Is it worthwhile to invest into Legion with thoughts, ideas and hope? You're being rather optimistic. My standpoint is fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I'm not saying I won't have a peek at Legion once in a while, but I will tread extremely carefully. And I'd advise everyone else to not put any trust in these people, too.
^this. I may peek once in awhile as well, but wont give it time and would never, ever put any money into it even if it ended up being the game we all wanted. |

I never gave a single crap about this game being on console. I care about persistence, about connection to EVE, about exploring planets and making a difference in New Eden. I care about having a gorgeous environment and high frames per second. I care about massive battles.
Console or PC, I do not care: I just want that vision realized.

I think, we all realized back before the official 'release' that Dust514 was going to have a limited life. How many threads did we make about Dust514 needing some kind of a next-gen strategy? Well, apparently they granted our wish. And are somewhat implying now that the reason the vision of Dust never materialized was the PS3 architecture (which could be completely valid given the strangeness of that system's memory handlingGǪ).

We (console users) are just as upset as the PC users were when they found out that this was coming to the PS3, only more so having spent time and money on Dust itself.
I get where you are coming from, but I can't for the life of me see how you can so easily put aside the fact that a lot of people spent a lot of time and money on THIS version on THIS console, both under the premise that CCP was committed to it in the short to mid term.
Now it is not only obvious they are not committed, but that they KNEW they were moving on months ago, and continued the charade.
Stop being myopic and look at the whole picture from not just your perspective, but of those that have been blindsided and are righteously angry.

I'm one of those people who put money (not a lot, $90, but still) and two years of my life into. I understand why people are upset, and as I've voiced time and time again in the past day, the REAL problem with all of this is CCPs approach and lack of communication on the subject.
I for one have always felt that the PS3 was holding this game back, that it would NEVER achieve the vision that was presented to us, so I personally anticipated something along these lines quite some time ago, and adjusted accordingly.
I'm not telling anyone to not be pissed, they have every right to be. I'm just saying I'm excited that for once, "DUST" has a chance to be what it was once envisioned to be.

I think many of us naturally, if wrongly, assumed the transition would be to the PS4.
I would be willing to bet that had Legion been introduced as the logical development, and was coming out for the PS4 in the future, the raging would have been significantly reduced, if not practically non existent.
I don't think that would have upset me at all, given that many people will naturally transition from the PS3 to PS4 anyways.
I understand why they are going PC, but I think it could have easily, and more appropriately, been heading towards the PS4.

I hope CCP Shanghai will put their all in Legion, it has a better future than Dust on a old console. I don't get why people want it on PS4 and not on PC, you can get a decent PC to play games on for the same price of a console these days.
