I'm going to side with the OP on this one. Even if the OP turned out to not be there, I can imagine there were others who felt just as shocked. The reason no one is going to say anything is because when you're at a convention it is all too easy to toe the party line.
When everyone cheers, you cheer, because you need time to process what the heck just happened.
btw, is there a thread where CCP has started answering some of the questions posed here?

Another closed vet here, feeling that same as most of dust right now, as a mature gaming company, I expected CCP to handle such things with more respect to the community and a lot more thought than how and what has happened.
I hear once again that the CPM warned of such a reaction and it was ignored. For those new at CCP, failure to communicate is nothing new with your company and I can only hope that some day you learn this lesson.
No matter the end game guys, it was fun playing with you all.

If there is a woman who would allow her man to live vicariously through a crappy FPS, still love him, and even empathize with his tribulations as his game goes sideways, than such a man is a very lucky bastard indeed.
...just my 2 isk.
DUST sucked anyway. Play EvE instead.

You should link a claim like that.
Also who cares.
Jean-Charles Gaudechon a.k.a. CCP Douche spit in the entire Dust communities face with the Legion announcement.
John Chuck Douchetron knew what would happen. He knew there would be a backlash and yet chose this way to go about it. To steamroll it in and wait for the Dust to settle.
Terrible Exec made a terrible decision and should be fired.

Truth is though, CCP checked out that guys RL name and said he was never at fanfest.. OP never disputed that. I'm calling this BS fake. Let's see if the OP has the balls to dispute that fact.

I really enjoyed being able to be a part of this from the ground up as a beta player and all. Sure the game had its faults, but they were being fixed and with the players help, my help, we shaped it into something solid. I felt like I was part of a strange family, sure a digital one, but family.
Then I hear about this Fanfest and CCP really pushing DUST players to come up to Iceland and enjoy the party on top of the world. A party with the rest of the family and to meet EVE players as well as other DUST players. I am a family man and really wanted my family to experience the CCP and EVE family. We flew up here to join in on the Fanfest activities. My wife and little boy. Hopefully will try to get him another sibling to pick on later this year! (still trying)
At first things were great. It was interesting to walk around and introduce yourself as a DUST only player and everyone was so friendly. I meet a ton of people. Things were great. Finally, after all the other stuff we get to the DUST presentation. For a moment I felt special. This was a presentation about me and the rest of my friends who play DUST. A presentation for us and to become closer to the rest of this family here at CCP and with EVE. Everyone around me knew I was a DUST only player it seemed.
Never in all my life have I been this utterly embarrassed to be somewhere. To really feel executed on the spot and all eyes on you. I felt like the biggest fool in the universe. My wife just covered her mouth and looked at me with pity. It felt as if everyone was looking at me for a reaction.
Every single moment after that it seemed like my family and I had leprosy. People steered clear and ended conversations as fast as possible and vanished. I just don't know how else to explain it. I have never in all my life felt this betrayed and publicly humiliated.
I wish I never came up here.

As a fiction writer, this seems very thought out to me ... too one-sided, too smoothly sad, too general and abstract. Most real-life events are more balanced out with experiences of good and bad emotions (while one side might get the bigger share). There are no unique and non-Cliche details and interactions described, as would be the hallmark of real life experiences versus (not very crafty) fictional experiences.
Why didnt you talk to other Dusties? What did they have to say? You surely would have found some empathy there. Did you go to the round table to make sure your voice was heard? + CCP claims they tried, but couldnt get into contact with you (maybe they really would want to refund you?). Please share more of your experiences, so that we can take this thread more seriously and not just as a sort of tear jerker fiction.
The answer to your complaint is PvE. Always.

Given CCP's recent track record, I still am not 100% sold on this issue. I've gotten to the point with them where I am not going to believe it until I fully see it implemented and I see people with their skills in Legion.

However, the initial lock was decided upon thorough investigation, we wanted to meet with the player, talk in person, but we were not able to locate any evidence that this player was indeed here and attending Fanfest.
And just how would CCP have any idea who he actually is? Did CCP require people to register with their dust name and provide positive ID? Who is to say after that presentation the player didnt leave the dam event and spend some time exploring whatever is in the surrponding area rather than listen to more lies and intentional deceit from CCP?
I dont understand why CCP did this at all. The best part is how they are now saying they can't verify if the OP was ever there or not. You guys at CCP are a real piece of work. I will be playing dust till it goes offline but i am not spending a penny on this beta test for legion. |

I've come to a conclusion. This story sounds false.
1. EVE players wouldn't even realize this was a bad thing, so they definitely wouldn't pity you. 2. Dust 514 players who felt the same way as you would be too concerned being pissed off to pity you. 3. Dust 514 players who welcomed EVE: Legion would also not pity you. 4. A gamer-sympathetic wife? Blasphemy. She "covered her mouth"? I doubt it. She couldn't understand.
Not saying it is fake, but it sounds fake.
