It's really hard for me to explain things. I never heard of CCP until I became involved in DUST 514. A free FPS that looked like a solid game. I really enjoyed being able to be a part of this from the ground up as a beta player and all. Sure the game had its faults, but they were being fixed and with the players help, my help, we shaped it into something solid. I felt like I was part of a strange family, sure a digital one, but family.

Then I hear about this Fanfest and CCP really pushing DUST players to come up to Iceland and enjoy the party on top of the world. A party with the rest of the family and to meet EVE players as well as other DUST players. I am a family man and really wanted my family to experience the CCP and EVE family. We flew up here to join in on the Fanfest activities. My wife and little boy. Hopefully will try to get him another sibling to pick on later this year! (still trying)

At first things were great. It was interesting to walk around and introduce yourself as a DUST only player and everyone was so friendly. I meet a ton of people. Things were great. Finally, after all the other stuff we get to the DUST presentation. For a moment I felt special. This was a presentation about me and the rest of my friends who play DUST. A presentation for us and to become closer to the rest of this family here at CCP and with EVE. Everyone around me knew I was a DUST only player it seemed.

Never in all my life have I been this utterly embarrassed to be somewhere. To really feel executed on the spot and all eyes on you. I felt like the biggest fool in the universe. My wife just covered her mouth and looked at me with pity. It felt as if everyone was looking at me for a reaction.

Every single moment after that it seemed like my family and I had leprosy. People steered clear and ended conversations as fast as possible and vanished. I just don't know how else to explain it. I have never in all my life felt this betrayed and publicly humiliated.

I wish I never came up here.

You are one dumb infantryman. CCP announces that they are adding people to DUST via a new game and you feel executed?!? Why would you feel that way??

They did NOT announce that they're shutting down DUST514 on PS3.
They did NOT announce that they're going to discontinue updates and improvements to DUST on PS3.

Even if they had, Legion will be AT LEAST 2 more years in development before it competes directly with the PS3 version.

You said yourself that everyone was friendly. Why are you freaking out that your new friends and wife are looking to you for a reaction to the things announced for the DUST universe? How RIDICULOUSLY insecure do you have to be to think that they're all laughing at you like you're Carrie White?

I'm a little surprised that a PS4 version hasn't been announced yet, but as long as the PS3 version is around, you don't have to change anything. Even if they had announced that dust is going away after legion comes out, which they didn't, if you can spend $3000+ on a trip to Iceland for your family because you love this game, $400 for a computer to play Legion (or just $250 for an amazing graphics card for your existing computer) should be no big deal.

To everyone else who bumped, made threats on CCP HQ, and otherwise acted like a POS: WTF is wrong with you? Calm the @#($% down.

Regardless of the authenticity of this story, it is a very real situation.

Any Dust-only fan that went to Fanfest just sat through a presentation where CCP announced their game is dead... and then had to sit through the applause that this reveal received because the vast majority of those at Fanfest are EVE players and are very biased towards PC gaming.

I can't imagine hearing the demise of something you loved being praised is a pleasant feeling and it will be felt by everyone who went there to hear the "good" news CCP has been hinting at for Dust.

I very rarely post, but I had to show you support, I wish you all the best for the remainder of your trip!
Worst personal experience imaginable. If I was there, I would have gone to purchase some remote explosives to destroy that building, and then a gun to go shoot all the CCP employees in the back.
