Squads should be reserved for PC and FW, even if they are some times unplayable. Proto contributes less to stomping than organized squads.
A squad of 6 corp mates with comms will 9 times out of 10 be more effective than a squad of 6 randoms.

No need to remove squads, just need to implement more modes for us to use. MLT only, ADV only etc etc
Allowing us to create matches with the rules we want to play by should take care of things.

Some place other than pub matches, that's for sure. CCP just needs to implement some type of training ground or return corp battles.
If you hadn't noticed the NPE is bad because newbies are pitted against well organized corp squads and are then steamrolled, not because they are pitted against 16 randoms of full proto. |

So basically deny nearly the entire playerbase from playing with their friends in a team based game simply to prevent pubstomping?

/c Gear is only a small factor. A team of one full corp squad will almost always have the advantage over a team with no squad, even if that team was decked out in proto. |

There's a better way. At this point, there really is no better way if CCP wants to draw in new players and retain some of their old ones. Drastic changes need to be made.

This.
Are you fking serious?, force people to play with the single minded run and gun trash?, I don't think so. Create a solo scrub mode where the idiots can all run around solo together.

Anyway, I'll leave with this question.
If you were a new player, which option out of the two most adversely affects your playing experience?
-Fighting against several organized corp squads in a single public match?
-Fighting against 16 randoms of ADV and Proto users? |

After being on these forums since launch I can honestly say that this is the worst suggestion to date.
Do you really expect people to play a team-oriented "tactial" FPS alone?
Why would anyone play this game alone?
Without the banter of friends and the customary QQ about lag or someone killing you with a scrub tactic what are you left with?
A sub-par lobby shooter for masorchists?
Implement this and the playerbase will drop drastically in term of numbers....

If organised then you'd die in groups.
If random youy lose almost every 1 on 1 encounter for the whole match.

Create a solo scrub mode where the idiots can all run around solo together. The idiots who run solo are comprised of nearly all new players and a good majority of those already well versed to the game. This is not true. I tend to run solo very often. Always with an unlocked squad in squad finder. It's not my fault newberries don't join my squad. Often times I even join other squads of newberries in the beginning of matches, most of the time they spend the first 5 minutes traversing terrain by foot then get gunned down within seconds of reaching anywhere near an objective.
The problem with newberries isn't just the NPE but also their general lack of FPS skills, IMO. If you are any good at any other FPS game Dust shouldn't be that difficult to pick up. Maybe a few weeks of learning map layouts, pinch points, typical player movement around maps, etc.
There is absolutely no reason to take squads out of public matches. It would strip this game of the little fun it has left. |

How about just introducing matchmaking by SP and/or tiers (STD/ADV/PRO)?

Its because its free to play so most of the new players now will be casually casual gamers, the kind who like farmville etc lol, then they get ruined because this free to play game isn't that casual.

-Fighting against several organized corp squads in a single public match?
-Fighting against 16 randoms of ADV and Proto users? As a new player once long ago what I did my first match was exactly as you stated. I ran solo and got my ass killed. Next match, did I join a squad? No. Instead what I did was saw somebody's name, laughed at it, and said "I'm sticking with you" and for the rest of the match tried to stay next to that guy. Hard because sometimes I died and sometimes he/she died, but that was the plan. Instantly did better.
My point is, if you do not have a squad, it does not mean that you do not run like a squad. Even if CCP stupidly thought about removing squads from pub matches, it wouldn't matter because people naturally tend to move together and stick together. Some people, like myself, choose to do so because it increases chance of surviving longer.
Not only that, but if you remove squads/squad work then you'd lose Logis real fast, you'd lost passive and active scanners real fast, you'd lose the AV guys real fast because one guy really can't go on a single tank any more. It would pretty much destroy all the CCP put in Dust and probably the future of the game itself.
Are you being killed by squads a lot? Sure, but there are many ways of getting around it. Be smart, join a squad, work with other players, just explosives, advantage points, remove key members of enemy squads (passive scan scouts and logis)... think about how to better yourself and not how to damage the game.
Sincerely,
Your Multi-purpose Everything User

In all honestly do what we all did when we were new. Save SP for relevant skills, not throwing it around worthlessly. Find a group of friends to play with, or join a corp. Save up ISK. Get protosuit. Use protosuit against protosuits.
If you still lose in your protosuit to their protosuit then this isn't the game for you. The majority of kids running around in proto in pub matches aren't that great. You'll run into some good squads now and again, but it's not a 24/7 occurrence. Most of those real good players don't need proto to kill you anyways, they use it for lulz and because they can. |

im assuming OP gets pawned by coordinated squads since he isnt in a squad and so is butt hurt from dying to those squads, and now to justify his pain and suffering he wants all pub games to have no squads.

It would go a long way if Matchmaking properly balanced squads.
As it is now, when I run solo, at the start of any match I immediately pull up the scoreboard and, more often than not, I usually see a whole pile of the same corp names on the other team, and often no more than two on my team.
So I usually quit and re-queue until the teams are a little more even.
If Matchmaking did a better job of dividing the organized squads between the two teams, you'd have less "Protostomping*"
(* in this case I'm obviously using the term "Protostomping" loosely, to describe any situation where an organized group of experienced players is pitted against a team of unorganized, lesser-skilled players) |
