I agree with youmadbro on some of issues I see omega boosters coming back I see different color guns suits etc but we played with horrible issues in this game that took 3 months or to fix some still aren't fix micro transactions drives this and most other f2p games if the people who spent money didn't and the whole community played free the game would either be in one of two places either terminated or enjoying a bustling community 30k or more on dust daily =ƒÖê=ƒÖë=ƒÖè=ƒÖà |

Why the hell isn't someone doing something on kickstarter? It's worth a try to save 56 jobs.
My job industry doesn't have the luxury of kickstarter. I would do ANYTHING to keep qualified employees.
Why not a subscription similar to EVE in Dust? Why not SOMETHING? You know, I have my gripes about this game. My friend Krazy Chomper smashed my proto aur suit with his drop ship in FW (BTW, I have to find him logged on again, haven't seen him on lately) but I still play with these guys. I still enjoy this game, especially since I discovered using OP heavies with HMG. That ish is NIIIIICCCCEEEE.
Anyway, I would gladly donate 20 to 200 bucks to keep this game going if I knew that it would cost jobs. I, personally, knew people that were interested in WoD. All of them make plenty of money. They would GLADLY have paid money out of their pockets to see the game come alive. If you have ever personally witnessed a company quit on a project and tell a few dozen people "tough ****, but it's the business" knows that this sucks. What is worse is it was salvageable. It could have been addressed with crowd funding. There are people outside of CCP that would have liked to see the company not fire a bunch of people.
I think this officially says everything there needs to be said about CCP Leadership. They are hacks/jokes that got lucky with Eve and that's where it ended. Until a rectified model is used, I'm not buying Aur again.
I'm just dumbfounded that they could have easily had a 10k people donate 10 bucks and bought 6 months for qualified employees. It could have turned out even better than that and they could have a new game within a year.
EDIT:
My main point is that failure on the leadership chain should not punish the grinders/grunts. Now, if they were mostly terrible at what they did then it couldn't be helped. But given the industry being the way it is right now, I find it hard to believe that those people weren't trying to keep their jobs with some level of work ethic. |

CCP Falcon wrote:Hey guys, As some of you may already be aware from the press release on www.ccpgames.com, the World of Darkness MMO project has been cancelled, effective today, April 14, 2014. While this is a sad moment for those affected, this puts us in a far stronger position to devote more time and resources to the EVE Universe and our projects therein. You can read the full press release on our website here, and if you want to discuss it, please do so in this thread to keep discussion focused. We'll also be answering questions here as and when we can, so please feel free to ask if you have any queries. Thanks.
Back to reality, I think this is the first time that CCP is honest to his community. I certainly exaggerating but speaking announcement, CCP have told us that last year we should see a NPC mode. In my opinion, as it will be the "fanfest" is the trading strategy CCP announced again and again things, but their achievement we want. In the interest of CCP, if our next fanfest, I do not see any documents relating to the NPC mode dust, I begin to think of them as professional liars. Less ads more results.

I understand the micro transaction model in both Free to Wait and Fee to Play.... but do you?
It isn't a "Free to Wait" game like Clash of Clans where not buying Gems makes you progress many times slower in all aspects of the game than paying players. While SP accrual is slower, it is only slower by 50% total if you hit the cap every week. So yes, a paying player will outpace a non paying player SP wise on a 3:2 scale (which is not much at all), but since this is the only area where time is lost as an opportunity cost to not paying, and since SP is hardly the deciding factor in many matches, this doesn't make DUST "Free to Wait".
It also isn't a "Fee to Win" game like Diablo or Hearthstone where paying players gain a huge advantage over non paying players by buying gear or "packs" of random items. The only items that can be bought with AURUM have identical ISK versions available at reasonable prices. No content or gear is behind a paywall, and there aren't AURUM only item packs that may contain super rare officer weapons or something. The only advantage, listed above, is Boosters and those are only a marginal advantage (that will someday be available for ISK through the market, ending their time as AURUM exclusive).
In the end - A person can install DUST, make a character, skill up said character, and access ALL weapons, items, maps, and content without ever paying a cent. So yes. Despite all your protesting DUST is very much a free game (for the individual) and as such you should quit acting so *** **** entitled. |

Honestly I just want a modest, even tiered subscription scheme with things like an aurum stipend, unlocked passive SP for multiple characters, maybe a few 'freebies' each subscription cycle, in game advantages like market discounts, and lastly nifty-looking militia blueprint suits (just a couple, all vanity, no real advantage unless you're new, you know?). Nothing too fancy or abstract that gives a direct insurmountable combat advantage over free players but something that provides a sensible advantage that I can commit to.
On topic,
Well, honestly, the supernatural market has been over-saturated at this point I'd say. If it had come out, even just 3 years ago? It'd have done factors better than if it came out today or even this year. It's better off as an intellectual property if it bides its time, ferments, and drops with force in three to seven years. That isn't to say that I'm not disappointed, but this is how things go sometimes. It makes sense from CCP's standpoint as a business to focus on their other titles for now and develop their core product(s) rather than stretching themselves out too thinly and making less than fulfilling improvements all around.
EDIT: Plus there might be more Dust lore this way, which would be neat. |

After having a little while to cool off about this, I feel I can post rationally enough now.
I'm quite disappointed with CCP's failure to complete WoD Online; but then again, I was already getting really tired of the agonizingly slow development process, so this was hardly shocking. What bothers me most is that, regardless of how quickly CCP unloads the WoD rights (assuming they do), fans of that universe won't see another game for, what, 5 more years minimum? So for those who don't know/care, the last game of any kind set in the brilliant, complex, not-remotely-like-Twihard-garbage, World of Darkness, was all the way back in 2004; a decade wait is already pretty painful as it is, but now...
I was always suspicious of how CCP could handle such a project; suspicious because they're relatively small and because EVE is really lacking in the PvE department (going by enjoyment value and story depth, not quantity); WoD was definitely going to need a large amount of PvE content from launch. Not only that, but developing a sound superpowered melee combat system for PvP use is not a task I'd wish upon my worst enemy. So in other words I had little faith in CCP from the start; not because I think they're a bad company (they would have handled the atmosphere, music, and style of WoD very well, I wager), but they simply were never suitable for such an extensive project. That said, I did support CCP over the last few years (with cash, I'm not speaking in euphemisms like "go team!" support) partially because I hoped some of the money would go to WoD development.
Getting to the end, finally. I'm wondering if there's any chance at all of CCP cancelling the WoD Online project, but using its pre-production assets to make a single player game instead. It just seems like such a waste, regardless of how incomplete the game was, to throw it quite literally in the trash. Converting it into a single player game would, I imagine, make it easier to develop even if significantly less profitable (that 2004 game is loved by its fans but was a commercial failure for all intents and purposes). I realize as I'm typing this that it's laughable and would never happen, mindless hope born of desperation, but that's what a ten year wait will do to a person.
For the record, the best company for anything WoD related would have been CDPR, the developers of the Witcher series. Single player experience, not even a hint of multiplayer functionality; the only way to do it properly.

Some of the WOD tools for developing the environments can they be salvaged to be used in dust? I loved all the state driven building designs and hoped to see that detail be used when creating city maps in dust and ship maps for starship combat missions.

If some one can find a official CCP link to this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRT_CfWoU6o
I would love if some of the people would stop bickering about F2P and that jazz and I would love to hear some of the developers talk about the tools they worked with when creating WOD. Also how and what things can be taken to New Edan, there is plenty of room for station design and a player controlled citly inside the huge stations.
If WOD can add that into our world so we can lhave more areas to explore and find ways to control I'd love it.
Can we get a video on Salvaging WOD? Can we help in some way to highlight the great things all the employees and developers worked hard on while we sat in Darkness? Plenty of time and money went into it I'd love to something good come of it even if it is just a video showing how far it came.

That is plainly false advertising, and for me CCP reputation is burned. On the other hand, you know that I've hating about this game and CCP for about a year now, so for me this actually comes as a liberation.
But for the people that was really invested into the game and its community, believed in its potential, and that has supported this game through all its development, this is the lowest blow CCP could deal. They deserved better. I know you were one of those people, so I'm sorry bro. |
