Lots of things will be shown around the games in the EVE Universe come Fanfest. I'm sorry for those guys, but I'm glad the resources and focus will be going into EVE universe fully now. Look at what people are saying about other shooters. Titanfall has some things that DUST doesn't have (yet) but DUST has some things it doesn't have. DUST has found its niche and can now expand--with the right vision and marketing.
All they gotta do is update the graphics, port it to PS4 and PC, put in plenty of PVE, especially PVPVE, fill out the vehicles, heavy weapons, and structures (more Amarr and any Minmatar),and integrate it with EVE. Then they can release it as a kind of "DUST 2" with a new marketing campaign. |

And here we see the high water mark of CCP as a company.
Good riddance.
Their development was a perfect example of how not to run a production studio. A classic example of CCP's inefficacy and wastefulness. And the fact the company is posting losses will spur them to cut even more of their ****** excuses for projects. See CCP's financials that where posted a earlier this year.
You might tell me to feel sorry for the staff that lost their jobs, but these staff where enablers to their poor management and direction the project had taken and thus rather then go out fighting just came in every day did the minimum and collected a paycheck.
Dust is the same way. None of the staff goes above and beyond, they are active to the most minimum amount in the community. And they ran a total of 1 or 2 Dev observed games with the playerbase in the entire history of dust.
I could go on but why bother, They are snobs who will give the most PC if excuses for their lackluster performance, some sort of Bs about turning it around or how things will be better in the future. Fanboi's would would never give up on dust no matter what the results where will come to its defense and hopefully Dust will be disbanded after a year or 2 more of floundering around accomplishing little of tangible validity. |

Well. If they hadn't made progress in 8 years, they weren't going to make any more... but 54 people? No wonder nothing was getting done. I am sad another layoff has happened to CCP Atlanta. Oh well. Really wish the MMO would have worked, I really love White Wolf and all their products.

Wait, it was still in development? After all that time I had thought that it was long dead.
Well, at least there's still tabletop RPGs. Though it would have been awesome to get various factions added, with different playstyles. I would have loved an in-depth brawling system as a werewolf, with vampires being more on the diplomatic side and Hunters (I personally prefer the paladin style of oWoD) doing coordinated takedowns of high value targets. |

CCP Falcon wrote:Hey guys, As some of you may already be aware from the press release on www.ccpgames.com, the World of Darkness MMO project has been cancelled, effective today, April 14, 2014. While this is a sad moment for those affected, this puts us in a far stronger position to devote more time and resources to the EVE Universe and our projects therein. You can read the full press release on our website here, and if you want to discuss it, please do so in this thread to keep discussion focused. We'll also be answering questions here as and when we can, so please feel free to ask if you have any queries. Thanks. Will some of those employees that kept their jobs be working on Dust? Will all of those that kept their jobs remain in Atlanta, or will they be moving to China/Iceland?
I ask the second one for a loose timetable that if they're being moved, we'll know how soon they'll be able to start working on EVE/Dust.
I may be missing something, but I'm pretty sure that I didn't call for a tank nerf before Uprising 1.7. - Atiim

I am both sad and happy to hear this. Sad because I know CCP had been working on WOD for a long time and people lost jobs.
But happy that CCP's total focus will now be New Eden.
WOD would have been the only CCP game I wouldn't play. I like scifi games. Vampires and fantasy genres are stupid to me and I'll never play them.

Its truly a sad day when 56 employees are let go, and a much loved IP such as WoD will not be getting an MMO is a great disappointment to fans.
But silver lining: I hope this means that CCP will be able to refocus their talent on their flagship Eve online, and Dust514 becomes more than it is.
Looking really forward to fan fest and the vision you guys will put forward for the next year's development of both Eve and Dust. I'm indifferent to anything occulus-rift related, howeverGǪ

Someone in the business side of things over there call up Rockstar and ask them "How would you like to make a kickass open world vampire game?" if they say yes cut a deal. IF not, subcontract out the work to Obsidian, either sell them the IP or figure out some sort of partnership deal.

56 people let go when making no money for CCP developing WoD
When we could have sent them to fix DUST to be ps4 ready in 3-6 months
Fully functional and streamlined for efficiency
Instead of the seemingly 10 guys we got hiding in a broom closet in Shanghai.
And they would be making CCP money, and then move everyone around again into EvE, Dust and Valk. When Dust is better
And release all the squatters then.
56 people is a big cut for ANY gaming company at one time.
Dust is always on the verge of being a breakout success if only it could have more hands on deck to port it to next gen and smooth out the wrinkles.
Next gen BARELY has any games coming out this year that have replay potential except the few good MMOs
And free to plays are killing it on ps4 (Blacklight, Warframe, all other PlayStation plus free to plays)
Dust is a great game working on a mediocre engine on a 9 year old system with similar tech specs.
That's like working in an office in 2007 and still using Windows 98 programs.
Its just not practical, do the right thing CCP and help yourself with a port.
Hmmm. The Meta is strong with this one...

You can read this in any mode you want, troll or not; But I hope all the money thats been spent by players in DUST can now actually go into DUST development and not paychecks for those unfortunate people who got laid off.(Best of luck to all of them)
DUST became nothing but a spiral of pure frustration for me as more and more players were lost, including myself in the bitter end.(tear) So much for spreading the word about DUST. I know for sure that with marketing they could have pulled a bunch of players to the game, but for reasons unknown CCP does not want to market it.
Something extremely special has to be announced at Fanfest.
I hope I am right:
I hope. I cannot hope without true despair. And CCP has surely delivered on that. |

Good.
1. Carbon engine for ps4 2. Stronger ties with EVE 3. Mobile apps for Dust
If there's some talent from "World of Darkness" moving into EVE universe, it would be interesting knowing who is comming? what was their previous role? what are they going to do in Dust?

Whilst I feel sorry for the loss of jobs of the workers, I must ask this: Does that mean more resources are going to be aimed at Dust/EVE/Valkyrie?
I hate to sound selfish about that.
I really wanted to see what World of Darkness would amount to, CCP is amazing for creating new universes. It would be nice to see them do something outside of EVE.
And to those degenerate ingrates that are celebrating: How would you like it to be sacked after working for ages on something that would be given out to people and may be hailed as the best MMO in existence? How would you like to have that privilege taken from you by no fault of your own? These awesome people that work at CCP work long days and nights to bring you games and all you can do is complain? Take a look in the mirror and don't bite the hand that feeds you.

While I feel bad for those who lost their jobs, this was clearly the smart business decision. It's a shame it wasn't made earlier. I hope this means DUST will get more development resources. Based on the lack of progress with maps and complexes I think the team could really use some more bodies involved with producing them. We really need one set of maps for each race at a bare minimum, just for completeness sake. If we're going to be fighting on different planet types like Ice, Lava, Ocean, Plasma, Gas etc. and in space stations, wrecks (see link in my sig), possibly even ships, then we're going to need maps with custom complexes on all of them for all races, with a variety of functions. At the current pace this will take several decades to accomplish.
Best PvE idea ever!
