Im not complaining about it but ever since 1.8 was released, i hv never been avle to encounter a nova knifer scout, just shotgunners. am i like the last samurai of new eden?

yea which is a shame because its much more rewarding decapitating someone than doing it the lazy way and shooting ppl in the back. maybe the knives will be viable if the cloak only allowed you to carry a sidearm. i miss those days when knifing duels could happen only to be hilariously shot by another dude lol.

All I know is that after shelving my scout for the commando event, I am going to go scout hunting and get some revenge.
1.8 because nothing says fun like getting shotgunned in the back.

No. Shotgun + cloak = useless on most open ambush maps. Every assault or heavy player who has half a brain should run in a group of 2-3, which negates the stealth advantage.
It's not OP, and stop spamming threads like these when there are already other rant threads out there. |

Shotgun is not the best weapon to use with the cloak, it's just the most popular.
You want to one shot people? Use the plasma cannon. Hell you'll 1 shot more people with NKs, it's just very hard to do.
You want to be as effective but still pick people off from range? Use the combat rifle.
Not sure why the shotgun has become the end all of the weapons. |

Folks are watching their backs and moving in packs religiously. Heavies now take too long to shank and are more reliably dispatched via RE, Shotgun or Focused Fire. Not the best set of circumstances for a knifer.
Knives are still fun, but they were more effective prior to 1.8. An unexpected outcome, but true nonetheless.

As a lone wolf I feel you, as of recently it feels like the cloak go 10x as hard to see Idk maybe it's a glitch but I've had 5 to many shotgun blast to the face to even think correctly anymore.
Its alright everyone, no need to worry it's just an Amarr scout :(

As far as I see it, cloak/shotgun is an easy and popular combo. It's not abused at all, it's an easy means to an end. Now the brick armored Gallante scout/cloak/shotgun is annoying as hell, especially since that scout can still move really fast to make me miss most of my bloody shots... |

It is just poor game design. CCP should have never gone ahead and decided to give scouts a free 1,000 damage head start in all engagements.

It's harder to make nova knives work.
I wish i was better, I have tried them and just suck--maybe when I "get gud" and am not "srcub" (yes, that was on purpose), I will spend the time and become a better ninja.
Until then, my stars shoot out of a cannon.
(Side note: Got chased by a crazy mofo knifer the other day--drew my pistol and we danced. I won, but it was a close thing. Speed Gal Scout forever!)

The ONLY thing OP about the shotgun/cloak combo is they are still cloaked when they fire the first shoot. And since shotguns can one shot a lot of frames this is very OP.
Adding a small delay between decloaking and shooting will drastically help reduce this problem.
A shotgunner should be able to one shot many frames, but they should be completely visible to do it.
Gun control is not about guns...it's about control.
The only way to ensure freedom is by having the means to defend it.

Well i can still one shot heavys thankfully, except for the very brick tanked ones. someone mentioned plasma cannon, which could be funny if i flank and taking direct shots behind their backs lol. by the way, its not because shotguns are op, i just rarely see knifers (if you could not read properly, ur eyes needs a buff to see scouts). still, thanks for the inputs so far guys
