Scouts and cloaks aren't OP, SP is. Shield extenders go from 22/33/66, why no 22/44/66, it costs as much to go from 1 to 4 shield extenders as 4 to 5.
A level 1 scout cannot afford to even equip a cloak due to the ONLY 15% cost off the cpu/pg. Add in a level 1 dampening, precision, and range and you are an easy kill to a cal scout (which are everywhere). Unless you have about 14 mil in core skills and ONE suit you aren't going to live love enough to be a threat to anyone as a scout. Say you want to speed tank instead, level 5 botics + level 5 kin kats are around 3 mil SP.
The reason you are getting killed is because; people who have been playing this game for 8+ months with the tactics and SP to go proto and stomp just like any medium armor squad could do. In fact, most proto stomp groups aren't even affected by cloaked scouts, because they run in a group of 4 guys with a Gal Logi with a scanner and light em up like fireworks. <---- I don't engage when I see this.
Stop blaming the cloak; you are the one presenting a target of opportunity. I guarantee if you ran as a lone target with a cloaked friend you could draw out half the scouts in the game.

People don't realize that a scout's worst nightmare is a squad that sticks together and cannot be broken up. Scouts tend to go after the stragglers in the pack...the ones that can't quite keep up. The moment we see six guys that are inseparable, well we are hard pressed to do anything about them.
Yeah RE's my take out a couple of them, or surprise may net you a few of them as well, but more often than not, they will mob you and take you out before you can GTFO.

Exactly, I see you before you see me, not because of the cloak, but because of my scanning range as a Gal scout. Yeah the cloak makes it a little easier to hide while you pass by or I flank around to jump you from behind. But sometimes it will get me killed if I put too much faith in it. But honestly, if the cloak went away it would just be a bigger advantage to me because I can't see these FotM scouts when they are cloaked due to my crappy vision,
Most tankers are like sand people. They frighten easily, but will quickly return...and in greater numbers.

your post in a way says exactly what mine dose
cloaks are op 4 these reasons esp on scouts
1 able to shoot from cloak
2 able to recloak if is was not exhausted before uncloaking have seen it meany times where scout keeps disappearing and then shooting some 1 only to recloak in under 30 sec ( cool down before able to recloak not working)
both of these seem to be a glich( unintended effect) and are the biggest problem there should be a short delay of a sec or 2 before a player can shoot from being cloaked
3 combined near invisibility with added profile damping scouts all ready were near invisible on scans and with passive suit scans
4 the cpu is very high to use on any thing but a skilled scout over 100 cpu at lowest level try fitting it on any suit at a base or adv level with out having max skills that add cpu and pg then what can u put on the suit with it ? all most nothing
5 yes u can see a cloaked guy moving ( sprinting) but if he is walking or just standing in 1 spot they are close to invisible or a shadow or the sun is low in the sky it gives too much to 1 guy
combine all these things with a shot gun that at the lowest level will kill a proto heavy in 3 to 4 shots yes it makes a scout shot gun cloak very op
what a lot of players seem to forget is that not every one in the game has 20 mill sp invested in there guy or has 2 to 3 mill (extra) sp to just skill in to the next new thing with out new players in the game that stay with the game how long will dust last? |

The only thing that has changed from 1.7 to 1.8 is that I used to feel that I was going to get shot in the back while hacking and was surprised when I did. Now I KNOW I am going to get shot in the back while hacking and am surprised when I am NOT.
Tip: let the blueberry hack and watch from 4 feet away with a cloak, then take out the shimmer as they move towards your friend. |

I read it that scouts (especially any without a rifle) are at a loss in general in the usual stand and deliver firefights, but at a general advantage against a single or otherwise pre-occupied enemy (which every frame is btw - scouts just specialise in capitalising on those situations). QQing because we are better at specific tactics than others is kinda QQing about role differences in general...

You say exactly what I say, except not at all. I specifically said that the only reason that scouts are killing you is because you present a target of opportunity, which is exactly how I killed you guys before I got a cloak. I don't care how quickly I can recloak, if I try to kill someone in a group for 4 guys....I.... will.....die. I have too little health to run away after popping one when 3 others are trying to kill me. Plus if one of them has a scanner there is a good chance they can pick up 3 of the 4 scout suits. (Little known fact, most scouts don't include a profile dampener) (Which I don't recommend btw).
Also, the cloak is a finite resource, the reason we can recloak after killing someone is because we manage it, as with stamina, you donGÇÖt go into a situation unprepared. I am not going to engage with my cloak at 10% and my stamina at 0%. I will wait until I have the favor on my side. ThatGÇÖs the 8+ months of experience I was talking about.

Broken roles, yes. Cloaking is a cheater bar answer in search of some great unfairness question that doesn't exist. Many people have already stated that their general scouty awesomeness was already carrying them without cloaks. Then no one should mind at all if cloaks are removed.

Bonus to Biotics and electronics mods instead please. Keep cloaks in for the stealthmando lulz though.
CCP love their new toy more than the FoTMers do though.
I always thought its the brick tanking that broke roles though (as it has for a few patches now...)- but maybe you have some kind of (self-interested?) reason to not suggest nerfing plates. Unintended mechanics aside - cloaks generally help scouts do scouty things better...

I wouldn't mind if they were removed, I spend more time turning them off and on then killing people nowadays, but it has to be an all or nothing because I could use my OP EYES to avoid people while running across the open before, now I need my cloak because there are people waiting with proto rail rifles from 60 meters away that I can't see waiting to kill me. I only have 300 eHP.
This is all pointless, CCP encoding and made something, they aren't going to take it away, I was giving you guys tips on how to not present yourself as a target, they have never removed anything from this game, even BPO's |

Actually if you were referring to the glitch were you could start hacking something and switch to a weapon and run around cloaked with it out 1. It only lasted as long as the cloak was active til it ran out of energy 2. It was hotfixed several days ago
If you are referring to my ability to switch away from cloak and insta shoot, then I will refer you to another post I just made.
I have MANY MANY MANY times, accidently hit the trigger button instead of the weapon switch button and completed the full animation of turning off my cloak, THEN, I realize what I did (because if you do it that way, you will be locked into the animation (try it) until it completes. THEN, I switch to my weapon; fully decloaked and KILL MY TARGET. Because I have positioned myself to where they do not see me.
I'll tell you what, you can change the cloak to operate that way full time if you take away the feature that your reticule turns red when you hover over me and I am standing perfectly still watching my cloak timer count down and hoping you will turn away just as you mow me down without being able to react.
In either regard, it's nice to see Colon Blow with their typical sh!tty responses to people, have a good day sir.

- Make sure scouts must be fully de-cloaked before firing a weapon.
- Make sure that cloaked scouts always shimmer when moving. I stick to my claim that sometimes scouts can move while cloaked without being visible. I've been in 1v1 situations where the scout decides to bail by cloaking, I shoot where he was and he is no longer there and I saw no shimmer while he moved away from that location. These were closed quarter engagements and I have an HD TV.

Broken roles, yes. Cloaking is a cheater bar answer in search of some great unfairness question that doesn't exist. Many people have already stated that their general scouty awesomeness was already carrying them without cloaks. Then no one should mind at all if cloaks are removed.
You can say that about anything "I could already use item x so it dosent need a buff" Its said about anything that ever gets a buff in any video game ever. If the cloak is changed the only thing that should be changed is a short delay after switch from cloak to a weapon before you can shoot (.5s to 1s) Why not 3 seconds? Why not 10? Why not make shield extenders give you 200 hp? Why not make armor plates speed you up? Because that would damage the whole point of the what its supposed to do. It should let you sneak up on people and shoot them in the back, a short delay would simply stop you from decloaking in front of someone. To long of a delay and it has no use. |

I think the biggest issue with 1.8 is that passive scanning is only a viable option for scouts.
