i am so glad that after 1.7 i didnt drop my 13mil sp i had in tanks back into them cos they royaly suck. the tank combat is rediculous now and railguns are just something else and theres no imagination in the fitting of tanks any more. I used to be an enforcer tank driver which was the veyu this was my fit before 1.7:

I know, but remember they didn't finish tanks. It's an incomplete product they released and have admitted to. Hopefully they address this fact soon. As a tanker from back then, I know what you mean fella. I miss it too and hate this **** they call "Tanking" now a days.
Variety in tanks is gone, to be hopefully added back in the future.

And even better, the sp don't matter anyway. The only thing you really get is more active time which is useless for the 3 to 5 seconds an encounter lasts. Mil mods and tanks are just as good for zero sp. No wonder everyone is pulling out a rail sica like cheap cigarettes any time the going gets tough.

yeah I kinda regret putting much SP back into tanking, but its another tool in the box, just a shame it wasn't needed you can beat protofit tanks with 70k isk militia junk if you know your stuff.

Yea i used to love the fact vehicles could rep vehicles i had a python i stacked 4 shield extenders on it, i had a guy from my corp who would drive around the map if i get hurt i will fly above his lav at full speed and he would rep me it was sick

I quite often pulled out my logi HAV or logi lav when other recognisable tankers were on my team o7 grunt party, o7 Rachangel o7, Jason o7 horizon and o7 to any one who used mobile reps on my Caldari hav's . I used to spider tank all the time but the only bad thing about it was if you turned your turret 180' away from the tank getting healed it would disconnect, but a if done correctly a 1min heavy rep was great lol

dude I used to roll in a falchion with a remote heavy polarised remote armour refer and 2 light clarity ward shield transporters when backing up maddys and vayues or 2 heavy converse shield transporters when supporting Caldari tanks.

I did find the best combo for spider in was having turns at logi and buffer . That being said I did miss rolling round in my limby or chaby using it to deflect incoming AV that was destined for the tank I was protecting.

The only thing I despise about tanks is the fact that I invested in those dumb missles. Missles are ONLY good for taking out other vehicles, installations, CRUs, or Supply Depots. I can have a red dot on a still targets head and shoot and miss, even if i unload all the missles 1 by 1. How can a missile shot at someone's feet hit right next to them and do pretty much no damage. I mean, it's a missle. wtf? I don't even mind the missing, it's' funny to me... but why do the missles have GREATLY reduced damage from further distances? Again.. IT'S A MISSSSLLLEEEE!! That's what missles DO, they blow ish up from a distance.
I find it embrassing to the designer that in order for a MISSILE to effectively damage another tank, it has to be in shotgun range. Meanwhile, the swarm launchers can chase you indefinitely and do great damage across the map.

hows this a fail post? the fact i got positive feedback makes you look like a d***, also i kept my veyu alive 27 games in a row by being clever. Did you tank before 1.7? or are you one of these people believing there good in these toy tanks?

I can agree with the fitting thing, and that prior to 1.8 Tanking required a bit more skill to use since AV was so over blow OP in terms or damage at extreme ranges..... but at the same time 1.7 did something that only Chromosome really did.
It made tanking viable and fun... I have to say that while I find some aspects of HAV combat lacking now, or unbalanced I still find it overall to be relatively enjoyable and actually a viable way to play the game now.
Atleast I can afford to run proper HAV, and FYI to those who are all over the tanks must = expensive.....well sure......but they should never be a rich mans playstyle.....also I am unsure how people ever justified having a 2.8 Million ISK tank.....
I could go out on eve and buy a 100m long destroyer with guns the size of, and with 10x the power of my HAV fully kitted out of 3 Million ISK.....and that ship is capable of interstellar travel.

Atleast I can afford to run proper HAV, and FYI to those who are all over the tanks must = expensive.....well sure......but they should never be a rich mans playstyle.....also I am unsure how people ever justified having a 2.8 Million ISK tank.....
I could go out on eve and buy a 100m long destroyer with guns the size of, and with 10x the power of my HAV fully kitted out of 3 Million ISK.....and that ship is capable of interstellar travel.
My tank was a beast it had a 30 second invulnerability mode with my 3X armour reps and the hardener, it would destroy supply deps without overheating with my lv5 enforcer skill and my 1X active heat sink (52%) i would destroy militia tanks within 3-5 seconds, the problem now is that theres no reason to skill into tanks, people used to message me like "wow nice tank" or "whats your fit!" its like they would see my tank and they would want to skill into tanks. but now all i have to do is go around in a 77k sica with 2X dam mods (no skill in tanks) and kill every tank they bring out hardener or not dont matter if there skilled in there fits are always the same. This is why i declare tanking to suck.
also the amarr tank should hover and have a big laser weapon that takes 10 secs to charge then fires one big burst, of for infantry have a laser minigun kinda thing lol

The biggest loss is tactical ramming. WTF? It was overheating my blaster, on a collision course with a hardend gunnlogi, with nitrous activated that sealed the deal for me. Rolling an armor tank thru my exploding foe gave me no small amount of wood. I began my quest on a cold day in 1.5ish. By 1.6 it was clear brawling would cause bankruptcy. I learned the old ways, mostly from pegasis and the bastards I fought in pubs.So many things were better back then. Ramming was viable. Now I can slamm another tank and do do some damage or none. Perhaps one of is flips or both. Sometimes we tank hump for a bit. Almost never does anyone explode.

No you can still ram tanks. Have slammed/been slammed into with maddies. Insta death for a shield tank. Gotta hit them just right, like on an upward climb with nitrous activated.

Come to think of it, what would be awesome is that if the top cannon actually was a manned cannon (literally) where the turrent controller's head would be poking out with a slight protector around it. Make it so that if shot, the protector reduces the damage that person takes or is a permanently breakable shield then he/she can be killed afterwards. Would be a fun concept and give snipers something to do.
Or maybe even make the tank have a tiny 5x5 weak point where if you shoot it, it acts similar to an EMP and shuts the tank down COMPLETELY for like 3 seconds giving regular units a chance to get in and load it with explosives or something. Again, it would be virtually impossible to hit (unless you are a seasoned sniper) but it would be a cool rare experience.

Don't worry I don't think he can actually read, he knows the word tank and copies random words from a list his mom made for him, besides with tanks becoming a little less OP and rails due for a big dmg nerf he won't be around much longer, he piked out on dust the last time tanks stopped being god mode.

I can only think that it's because missile installations have infinite range. before uprising even came out I had a railgun fit that shot bolases down in one shot, it did over 6k damage. it was a glass cannon but it was one of the best fits out there who could deal damage. now everything is ****.
at least during uprising before 1.7 tanking belonged only to the most elite pilots in the game, there was no room for new guys or fresh blood, either you knew how to pilot a tank or you would lose everything, now everybody can use a militia fit ad be just as good as someone who invested.

Yeah, add modules back in and unbalance everything, starting from ground 0. If the nerf was anything, it was to placate AV until they can push out new vehicle changes. At least I HOPE that's why they did it.
I've been saying this for a long time, and it's been catchin on. High resistances are not the problem, the problem is TIME. How long modules last compared to how quickly they cooldown.

I kinda agreed with tieracide there for a while. Now though I see that it isn't necessary as many have explained it to be. The gap between new players and veteran players WILL ALWAYS BE THERE. What nubs need is a place to play with other nubs to GET GUD.
What I do agree with is adding new passive bonuses to the existing skill tree. In this way, vet players who are already specialized in a suit, ACTUALLY HAVE A REASON TO SPEND SP AGAIN. Super specialize that suit!

I think the only thing they needed to do was do two very little nerfs, nerf the swarm launcher range/dam (just a little) and the av grenades but that dont matter for the 2 grenades we can only hold now and the assault forge needs less ammo in a clip but there my views but, this didnt matter back then i still survived whilst in a tank even with "OP" AV it was always about skill, being carefull and knowing what your tank could do. Now its just YOLO!!!!!!!!

Exactly its too easy, theres no skill involved anymore just point and shoot whilst being av naded swarmed and forged all at the same time.

I'm not talking about avoiding them, you can do that easy just driving up and back down a hill or going around a building or anything. I'm talking about how if you see them coming and manage to get very far away going straight, they are still coming at you and when they hit do serious damage. My point is in reference to the damage still being pretrty much complete vs the drop-off missile damage & accuracy for the much more expensive missile turrets that are supposed to be the anti-vehicle weapon of the game, but fails horribly to be so.
