What defines a "brick tanked" scout? Or an "assaultscout" if you like.
I started out With a little over 700 HP but have steadily removed plates and added more scouty mods on my suit.
So I'm currently running With 160 Shields - 404 armor which makes the total HP 546.
Thats the setup I've ad the most success With, I noted my games yesterday and had a 5.9 KDR, without nothing but gun, nade and knife kills.
And please do mind, this is a protosuit, be reasonable and have that in mind, it cost a lot and is not to be considered against a dragonfly BPO....
So am I now considered a scout With a setup like this? or am I still a "tryhard Assault bricktanked scout FOTM Wannabe"?
How little HP must a scout suit have to be considered as being a "true scout"?
Is there a limit and whats the number?

Well, I have less total Health than you have Armor... And, I can still avoid your passive scan with my Minmatar, while scanning you.
I'm sure I'm 'tanked' with two complex shield extenders though. I'm sitting just north of 350 eHP (350.2, which rounds down to 350).

404 ain't bad. You're a Gal Scout, so you have the low slots available to run a decent armor tank. That's like what?
A complex Armor plate and a basic right?
Some advice though, try dumping one of those complex shields for a precision enhancer. Noob scouts don't run dampener on their scouts, so a proto precision will let you pick them up when they run around uncloaked.
I would also suggest running a Complex Reactive instead of a basic plate. You lose 20 armor, but you get your armor rep up to 5/s.
I consider "tryhard Assault bricktanked scout FOTM Wannabe" people who just take a scout and don't focus on it's stealth or eWAR or anything. They just use almost every available slot to eHP tank.
As for the limit? Heh. No real limit. Everyone has their own opinions. I only run around with 357 eHP, but my suit has heavy focus on Steatlh, Hacking, and Speed. I have other fits where I run almost 500 eHP, with combat weapons and armor repair on my min scout. I don't sacrifice my speed for it (Shields and Ferro's), but I do sacrifice my stealth and hack speed. Seems like a good trade when we just need another gun on the field. Which is sometimes needed.
I got my cloak and daggers, I'm a very happy Ghost

No matter what the "true Scouts" say, Scouts have to be nerfed. I would say likely by removing the extra high/low slot they received and the CPU/PG to go with that slot (and maybe slightly more as well), and maybe an increase to their base profile/precision.

If you aren't OHK'd or nearly dead after one direct shotgun blast, you're stacking too much HP IMO.
But since you're using knives I would not classify you as a brick tanker FOTM scout (assuming you actually try to get real knife kills, rather than reserving them for the dumb guy hacking a terminal or something).
I think the FOTM scouts right now are the ones stacking EHP and using primarily rail/combat rifles and standard sidearms on top of healing nanohives :) |

Not sure which game you're playing, but to me, base profile/precision only now matters between scouts using passive scanning. Seeing as active scanning is so ineffective in 1.8. |

Your playstyle defines your role, not your total HP. If you "assault" with your scout as if you run around in an assault, commando or heavy suit, then you're no "true scout". But being a "true scout" lies in the eye of the beholder and there are different opinions on what defines thise role.
I, for myself, have 2 styles: the "scoutly scout" with 320 eHP and the "assaulty scout" with ~650 eHP (both GalScouts). The first one is used to sneak around, get in and out fast and to kill some lone wolves. Sometimes to troll around with cloak, REs and MD. The second one is to have fun with the squad and - yep - "assault".
I don't have any problems with tanked scouts. To me they are nothing else than every other suit used to assault.

I think the profile reduction on the Cloak needs to be removed and base profile/precision on Scouts increased to 40/40 or 40/45.

The armor repairer is a waste. Put a scan range extender there instead. If you survive going into armor, then just run to a supply depot and change suits. |

Scout buffs in 1.8: Extra high or low slot. A lot more CPU/PG. Extra equipment slot. Cloak. 10 dB less profile. 5 dB less precision. 4 meters more scan range. Other stat changes I might have forgotten.

A scout that a tryhard would choose to play over a brick tanked assault or slayer logi because of current weaknesses.
A scout that will be dropped as soon as assaults become the best at assaulting.
I was one of those who used AR+Scout when some people said it wasn't scouty. The point is I chose to use AR on a scout as opposed to say a logi.
Of course if you are of the mindset that DUST is and should be all about gank/tank and KDR, the nuances are all irrelevant I'm sure...
It's ok though, everyone knows you started brick tanking scouts before 1.8/before it was cool - like a whole 2 days before 1.8 dropped.

This. With the SP refund, I backed out of Gallente medium suits entirely and finished the Gallente scouts (went from lv.3 to 5) and, truth be told, there really isn't a noticeable difference between my new scout fittings and my old medium fittings...aside from the fact that I now have an extra equipment slot when making multi-purpose fittings. Now I have my default suit with two types of nanohives for making the initial push for objectives at the start of the game, my ninja cloak/RE suit that I use for node defense, an assault version with either two types of nanohives (one for ammo, one for healing) or nanohive/RE combo and lastly, a just-for-fun suit that has a repair tool thrown on.
Given that light and heavy frames were buffed in this patch, I would expect mediums to receive a boost in the near future to bring back their relevance.
