How the hell do you do this?
I used to run in squads a lot, and this is a huge change for me. How do you all cope with the terrible team mates? When you're the only one trying, or the only one that's even any good on your entire team?!
I need help.

I just play have fun doing what you do and don't worry what others do. Sometimes completely random people will throw an insane amount of energy into accomplishing things. Enjoy those random moments os synergy on your team, and have fun.
I generally look at the whole team as my squad, I support those I can, and go where I think I can make an impact in what way I can. Being able to read the battlefield is important to having fun solo. If I notice my team is redlined, I do what I can to fix that. If my team is being spawn camped, I take actions to stop that. Intense firefight in one objective, break out a new objective or disrupt the enemy holding point. Have fun doing what you do Terrible teams are only terrible if you contribute to the terribleness, many people on a "bad team" are looking for an opportunity to do something, but can't find that opportunity, try to make those opportunities exist and the team will respond. Don't expect them to respond a certain way though.
Also embrace chaos as being wonderful, it helps

When going solo you have to be prepared for your team to suck. I always try to aid them and lend support, but when it's a losing battle and they give up so do I.
I'm not saying AFK, but I stop being so aggressive. Circle the outskirts of battle picking off stragglers or try to capture a poorly defended NULL cannon. My favourite is spending a lost battle harassing vehicles. I may not always get the kill, but can deny them an easy infantry massacre.
Basically when solo, play for fun, winning is secondary.

I can't do much with a Logi suit and a Python (I lose one EVERY MATCH I BRING IT OUT ;_;), but I guess I could help out a lot with my Tank. :D

I find I have to use a certain suit for certain maps. Flexibility is everything, if your good at taking out tanks through whatever means works best for you your team will always do better because of it. keeping objectives capped, laying down key uplinks it all helps. You don't need mic's to work together, if a teammate is doing their best to take out a tank throw some AV nades onto the fire.
CCP you better nail 1.8, as it stands 1.7 is a total disaster.

I run skirmish, pick an objective and make it mine. Sometimes it gets lonely but if my team stinks I get a lot of attention since I'll be holding the only objective left for them.

Although sometimes I jump right into matches since there always seems like a big rush. Generally when someone in squad with a SSD who always calls in vehicles.

There is a reason why most of my fits are sub-20k ISK. That, and I don't care about my KDR. Those are essential to going solo (unless you get rich in PC, or are part of some corporation that mandates KDR for qualifying for membership.) Other things include:
- The ability to enjoy the scenery, when enjoying battle is not an option
- Situational awareness comparable to Sherlock Holmes
- A multitude of fits in a variety of roles
- Knowing when to run away
- The ability to not feel like a noob when you frequently run away

I snipe when I go solo, but I also support the team with uplinks.
After Uprisings release the forums were a bad place, I'll never forget how CCP screwed up so badly.

As a constant lone wolf myself, let me say the key is versatility. And situational awareness.
When the match starts, first thing I do is droplinks. Deploy them for 2 reasons:
-Closer to a contested objective -A "snipers nest"
(you can equip both militia droplinks and regular ones on a Logi).
Then, drive back to the Supply Depot and go get changed. Me I usually change into my Mines outfit. I hide some RE on my LAV as a anti theft system ,and then I go out and place some Poxy mines.
Afterwards, drive back to the Supply Depot and change.
Basically, you are switching roles as they are needed. If theres no spawnpoints, go the the drop uplinks character. If the team is getting beaten back, switch to sniper. If the team is entrenched, switch to rep tools, nanohive, and injector. If the team is doing well and doesn't need Logi support, switch to a tank.
Or sometimes get a dropship and some gunners and hover over a firefight.
The biggest advantage you have as a lone wolf is stealth. By avoiding the bigger firefights, you can flank and capture installations and objectives, or can plant uplinks and create a new front for the enemy.
You have to be ready to do 5-6 different roles, and have to know when you are needed, and when "my work is done here". |

If I end up on a team with a squad I usu tag along and fight with them.
If it's nothing but blueberries, wait I until the point rush is over and go ninja undefended enemy letters and camp it until the make concentrated effort to take it back, and repeat.
If a member or squad of a noob corp (e.g. FWARM) is on the enemy team I just snipe, since it seems like the only thing they teach them is to grab a dropship and fly to the highest point on the map with an uplink and snipe from there. Half their team ends up there sniping just asking to be popped in the head. Who am I to not oblige?
If a member or squad of a noob corp (e.g. FWARM) is on the my team, I just exit the battle. Since it ends up being me and a handful of other mercs fighting on the ground and the rest of the team high up somewhere sniping.

I run solo most of the time, and the only squad activity I do is Amarr FW.
With that said, I just try to keep my general situational awareness up, and try not to depend on team mates too much. Basically, you play it as a single-player game with AI that ranges from "the best I've seen" to "god that's awful."
