Either just roll with the punches, I usually run std gear and try to pick out the protos on the other team to ambush kill and terminate, because f you and your proto spam in pubs.
Or you can just look for where the engagement is and do one of two things:
1. If you are winning the clone count (IE your front is pushing) Then join the front soldier!
2. If you are losing the clone count (IE your front is getting pushed) Then sneak around the edge of the map and attack stragglers/cap behind them, because 10/10 times when a team is pushing your team, well they are pushing... so their resistance is weak to nothing from behind. Whatever you do, do not try to simply attack the opposing front from right behind them. It doesn't take long for 8 guys to 180 and shoot at you. |

My solution is usually to move around sniping in a Scout suit, picking off targets and Drop Uplinks so that the team has less enemies to deal with.
After slowing the enemy down, I hack the unoccupied objectives.

1. Time - i don't have the time nor care to find a team. I want to login and play.
The answer CCP says is the squad finder - its bullshit. The squad finder is full of people who others do not want to team with. Whether they be noobs, annoying kids, or pricks who play music in their mics. These are the kind you find in the squad finder.
2. Enjoyment - i don't want to play with losers who need to squad up or q-sync or Proto stomp to be successful. These people are losers who can't cut it in other FPS games and seek to play dust because SP is their crutch, and superior gear is the only way for them to be competitive. They are just losers who need every advantage dust 514 provides them with because CoD and BF4 makes them cry. Its a major problem as a solo, you see nothing but these losers. Just know every time you see a squad that you are better than them, you don't need their scanners or their 7 tanks or other crutches these players use.
The problem isn't so much noobs on your team, every team will have noobs. The problem is unbalanced matchmaking which places noobs in games where they have no chance to even kill someone n Proto gear. Terrible teammates are just more frequent, but it just means you're more likely to lose a match (which isn't important) but has no impact on your enjoyment.
3. Stay to the outside, use drop links to keep you map positioning over your idiot teammates who all want to spawn closest to the front lines and certain death as possible.
Remember there's nothing wrong with having a 28/4 game followed by a 12/14 game. Play for enjoyment and remember only pricks and scrubs need a squad because they can't hack it as a solo. |

Guard points by yourself with help of your Tank/ADS, which will allow your team to move to other points and put pressure on your enemies and if your point is secure, go around putting uplinks before you leave to help your team at another point. After they are through go back to your point.
If you see the map is not fit for vehicles try playing guerrilla style and don't forget to keep your team spawns near you as you fight.
As for vehicles just don't stick in a place long enough for your python to be a target and switch back and forth between you ADS/Tank.

I really enjoy running a logi with rep and needle. I get a thrill out of being the medic, even in paintball. I am up in the thick firefight making a difference. But, you don't really solo well in a suit like that.
I have been trying to find a squad that actually plays as a squad. Most pub stompings occur because the other team is in fact running a tighter nit squad than the other.
I don't want to corp jump just o find squad mates, so here are some solutions:
Direct Action Response is a corp that has a pub channel, DAR REC, they are centered to running squads and using military tactics. They are new, and not much action is in their pub channel yet, but in time I hope it grows. The few times that I ran with their CEOs I had a great experience.
ConantheCimmerian runs a great squad in the TSF pub chat channel.
And I own a chat channel TEAM LOKUN. The whole point of my channel is to improve squad formation and simply gather people who are great squad players. This channel is new still and I have not yet had the time to get everyone in the channel on the same page, but their are some great players in there.

But seriously, it's really good training if you can handle a beating - it fine tunes your battlefield awareness. Measure your success only against team wins/losses.
When you're getting mobbed by protopacks while you're being forced to try and take points alone, try to kick out some of their teeth before they take you down.
And your dying thought should be a prayer(in your case to a failed god) consigning all cowards to the hell of 'might-have-been-if-only-they-had-the balls'.
Pure solo kdr this week: 2.01, solo win/loss this week 2.76, running a standard suit with cmplx/adv mods and the Exile AR, about 15k ISK/suit. I've met a lot of solo players who do much better than that - when the opportunity arises, they're a pleasure to run with.
I support SP rollover.

Team mates are dimwits and don't have a single uplink? Switch to a logi with tons of uplinks.
Tanks are dominating the field and team mates aren't switching to AV? Bring a triple damage modded tank.
Team mates can't push through the enemies defenses? Get your slayer suit out and wreck some ****.
In general, being a master of many trades is key to being successful solo. I can fill many, MANY roles, as I tried pretty much all of them, and while I only mastered slaying in my assault suit, I am good enough to do the other jobs to a competent level.
Shield regeneration bonus for Gallente Assault is about as useful as Sharpshooter for Nova Knives.

my brother. i have been solo'er for since the beginning. sometime squad most time by myself. even though i wish i had just one person follow me everywhere i go in the game.
In ambush..you must stay on sides.bring droplinks and flank. if you put in good place people will use them. you must pay attention and know when being scanned but most time they are focused on the group in front of them. Oh and listen for tanks
In domination i do the exact same.
I hardly play skrimish but when i do i try and stay between two objectives but i do catch myself wondering around.
Its not really hard going solo. But like i said i really wish i had one person follow me watching my back the whole game.
Oh i use amarr assault also

I love running solo medic. Don't try to play TF2 and sit on one heavy all day long, your wasting potential rep sitting there in lazy mode. You rep everyone you can and revive anyone that is safe to revive. As for a weapon, I personally like to run the breach AR std as it has enough punch to drop people while not burning out of ammo quickly. |

Being flexible makes it funner, I usually play a lot of roles, most of them badly, depending on what I think needs to be done. This doesn't work out well for me though as this usually means I'm in a bad spot. I can't care too much about my kdr, but unlike the previous poster I can't stop trying for the win, even when it feels like I'm the only one trying. I'd love to find a regular squad and I have squadded with some people (including some on this forum) that I really liked running with but I haven't really found a group yet.

I counter snipe when no one else will hit the obnoxious red line snipers on the other team, I understand red line snipers when they are getting pushed into the red line but I hate with a passion the enemy red line snipers who are doing so while we are getting red lined. Other than that it's guerrilla tactics if we are losing and front pushing when we are winning. Where players go wrong is when they do the opposite and guerrilla when we are winning. Which just will stretch the game out or leave the objectives vulnerable to counter offensives or players will push the front when they are losing, which will just add more corpses to the meat grinder.
This one basic concept is what seems to separate the good and the bad, although superior gear is always a factor when all other things are equal which isn't often. Gun game generally gets trumped by superior numbers and tactical positioning anyways, since AA is a thing. |

I am speaking for someone at the moment due to their inability to speak for themselves due to (deleted due to forum rules).
It has to do with heart and reading the battlefield. If you can read the field you can make the necessary choices to come out on top. You most also realize you cannot win the battle by yourself, if the battle is not going your way, take a moment reassess the situation and go from there. I have been in first place with less than 500 WP due to me being the only one trying. Another trick is if you only see 5 friendlies near you or less, the rest are sniping and you have no chance to win. Just a few ideas to help. |

I'm exactly the same way and honestly, CCP demands that you spread your sp if you want to be useful in the longterm. Because no matter what, if you specialize into one thing alone you are going to get hit with the nerf hammer.
CCP Reps, "This game is all about specializing your role."
Me, "Specialize my ass..."
I always tell newberries two things:
1. Don't play this game, it isn't worth jumping in at this point in its life cycle.
2. If they still want to play, disregard everything CCP says about how to play this game. The talking heads have nothing to do with what the Chinese programmers actually made the game into. |
