You're not the only one, trust me. Nowadays all these scrubs load in tanks and think they're good. It used to be either you were a good tanker or your **** blew up in a few seconds. There wasn't much in between. |

Couldn't find much tank gameplay... but I figured I needed to put an enforcer tank in there... we all know we're never getting our Marauder tanks back :(

I didn't realize at the time, but it was great.
Immediately when the enemy saw my militia tank, it was destroyed. Period. Because a tank that requires no skill SHOULD SUCK.
And the only OP weapons were Scrambler and Assault rifles. The other weapons were actually commonly used too.
I hate CR and RR...
Hanging up the Min Logi, going full Amarr Sentinel with HMG, Ion Pistol, and Forge Gun.

TheLegend earned his title in PC. No one can do what he does with a blaster in PC.
Either you tank in the pits and prove yourself there or you are irrelevant. Maybe I am prejudiced but if you can't handle your tank in PC than what you can do in a pub doesn't really matter.
The only good thing about the new tank meta is that it has sorted out the team work tankers from the soloists. You cannot be a lone wolf in PC, at least if you want to win.

he gets paid/ supported in PC by his corp in costs. If I knew that I had a tank budget, I would also try but since (last time I did PC in TUL, I was all on my own with costs). Also, why can no one do what he does with a blaster? what does he do with a blaster?

Being fronted tank costs used to matter, it shouldn't now, unless you are throwing tanks away.
Being able to rack up kills in a PC with a blaster tank is difficult. Doing it while minimizing losses is another factor. Did he have the luxury of strategy being catered to his skills? Of course but any smart FC would put that to good use.
Using a blaster to pick off demoralized infantry in starter fits is not the same as trying to knock down proto suits that know how to move.

Uhhh... so? I Have killed many proto suits. I can minimize loss (I already have). Blasters tanks are nothing special and nothing hard. Aim shoot kill. I haven't played him but he seems over glorified.

I wish they put the steering controls back to the way they were. As of now you can go right to an degree but some times its wants to go the other direction any one else have this problem and has any one told CCP this ? This alone has caused me to lose several tanks when trying to get out of some where or out maneuver an rail tank.

I know how sh*t tanks were in 1.6 specifically shields (the ones I unfortunately specced) but I made them work even in PC. I ran active tanks in 1.6. 3200 shield gunnlogis that could take a heavy beating and 2 heavy shield reps to back me up. This fit worked well in PC except that I had to time my engagements on armor tanks precisely when their reps were down. I had Xt-1 cycled to demolish an unrepping tank. TBH, that gunnlogi was one of the greatest fit I had come up with. Immune to nades and swarms even at proto level. But that's just my fit in 1.6.

So I did a little tanking pre-1.7 but not a ton. But man... im loving tank v tank battles in 1.7. So much fun. Its pretty basic right now but there is plenty of room for it to grow. I dunno... I really enjoy it.
I feel like the only thing that really needs to be done would be to buff forges slightly and swarms/PLC a lot. Overall its pretty fun imo... maybe that's just me though. |

The only thing I hate aside from a major reworking of the modules indicated in my signature are fits that would be unfeasible if we had a capacitor. All the fits you might see with triple hardeners, triple damage mods, etc. All make for silly tank fights. Triple hardening when combined with an armor plate and hardener is just about unkillable by one tank even with 3 damage mods. A capacitor would balance this fit and make fights a lot more interesting.

I liked 1.6 Tanking as well....just felt a little more fleshed out..... you could customise the fits a lot more, and that was one skill of HAV battles, you also had to have the SP, and the knowledge of battlefield and tank since you were more susceptible to AV fire.
I do miss it soooooooo soooooooo much.

i miss it too, pro-fit tanks were an asset in both directions - price and impact - instead of depending on luck "sooner-or-later-railgun-fodder anyway".
by my opinion, the only changes to make on the tank-aspect of pre-1.7 vehicles was buffing shield-tank's durability in tank-versus-tank combat and giving them the agility-advantage they got in the end as well as a decent but not insane nerf to AV (but not as much as now).
ah ja, good times - hopefully they will at least tweak the railgun and/ or damage-mods and hardeners soon
(really, i think it should not be allowed to fit more than one of those per hitpoint-pool and weapon type, would solve a lot of problems by itself - i had even expected CCP to be smart enough to bring this stacking-penalty-type for those modules with 1.7, was telling ppl "they will not allow you to fit multiple of them anyway - cuz that would be crazy" - oh well, i guess that is CCP for you...). |

1.6 was a lot better. Even tho AV was beyond powerful in some cases, driving the tanks took some work. Timing on modules mattered, one badly timed activation couuld lead to tank loss. Needed my squad, Trusty gunner, great sniper and altogether good and eyes on the battlefield.
1.7 is a joke.

You do realized AV was extremely potent in 1.6, right? Like 4 swarms rounds to kill tanks..

Frankly i dont miss swarms that i cant see and follow me around x amount of corners while having full coverage of the map and are able to deal 3k+ dmg
Or useless gunlogis and there hardeners
Or the ability to not be able to see less than 50m
Or AV nades which cost 20k but can deal 2k+ dmg and take out your 1mil+ tank but thats fine but now that my tank can be 70k and take out your 100k protosuit its not fine
