40 995 Isk per suit. So very cheap. I lost 5 suits in a game, and not only didn't I lose 1 M isk that game, I even came out With a net profit.
Slightly annoying to lose 1 vs 1 engagements vs some of the more beefy fattys but otherwise, I couldn't really tell any noteworthy difference except for all my toys (Equipments) were kind of sucky. I've een getting used to the most fanzy equipment isk can buy and, well, comapct nanohives do work but they're not exactly great...
So I Wonder, this goes for all of you not running proto in pub games, and indeed the mass of players getting butthurt of Our general use of it. If I now keep using my 41K fit, making a profit in every game, + keep ringing in PC making even more ISK. What the hell am I supposed to use all this isk for?
For the wast majority of the playerbase, using a cheap fit like this or indeed even cheaper, what do you do With Your isk? Or is it some sort of point to gathering and keeping billions? I don't get it.
And no, I can't "use it for PC" since PC is were I earn my isk and pubgames is were I've so far burnt it away by playing in a stupid manner in a 235K isk logi suit.
What the hell am I supposed to use all my isk for?

After your first few 100 Million, ISK is just a way to keep score no real use for it nothing luxurious out there to buy and sink my ISK into *hint hint CCP*...
But depending on how much ISK you actually have saved up i got BPO's for sale for stupid high price that generally only people with stupid high amounts of ISK can afford and will most likely never use because they can still afford to run proto but keep the BPO's as a rare collectible. <-- One of the quickest way to burn your ISK in this game i guarantee it.

In other words, skill something other than your OP as **** AR/CR/Scr/RR and run things that take actual skill.

If you are going to have a surplus and know that you won't need a huge amount soon (risky proposition), I would find a reliable money changing service and try out EVE. The ratio is generally very favorable for DUST mercs as money is slower to make. Start up an account and try it out with some extra cash. If you really have that much extra DUST isk, see if you can trade it in for PLEX (30 days of game time that you can buy from CCP with real money or buy from a player for isk) and play for free.
If this whole market integration thing happens, you will probably at least want to see what EVE is like considering they will be supplying your toys. I know that I am keeping my manufacturing alt active because if something I want isn't readily available or is ridiculously expensive, I know that I will always have a supply of it.
Even if you don't do that, still try out EVE. You can get 2 weeks free or 3 weeks free if you use someone's referral link, and people will generally pay you 10 million to use their link. |

I said good suggestions.
Why would I like to play EVE? If I have trouble sleeping I will put on some old black and white documentary. I've been in EVE With a friends account and everything was so slow and borng, even the fights were slow and boring. I tried to ask him, "Who the best pilote in his corp was", and he said that this dude had the best ship. Yes thats fine but who's the best pilote? Who has the best aim and Control of his ship? Then he said that this dude had a sort of tracking thingy on his ship and I startd to realise that EVE isn't affected by player skill at all. Yes the co-ordination of a large fleet, ship fitting and such but when it comes Down to an actual engagement the numbers rule. In Dust you can easily take out a proto suit With a starter fit if you get the drop and knows how to aim, I've died countless times due to a militia ARs in the back. In EVE, a starter ship vs a bigger ship of an experienced player is a sure loss. You can't use Your player skill to outmanouver or outgunn a superior ship so the entire game IMO loses its fun factor.
And I'm not gonna swith from being a Assault/support player to be a vehicle player just to burn through my isk, if I actually wanted to fly I would.
And using stupid fittings like plasma cannon on a protosuit so that I will die more and become useles to my team is not gonna happen. I play to win the games I play and the difference between a 40 K isk ebhanced suit and a 240 K isk proto suit is negligeable at best.
And no, I'm not gonna keep saving isk on the off chance that this game might get good in the future. As I see it, I have enough isk to run full protosuits for the rest of my Dust career.
So, am I to conclude that protostomping is the only viable way to lose isk in this game?
And a question? How is it possible for so many players to go "broke"? I see it in local chat and on these forums, "I need isk, I'm soo poor". I mean, you can fit a 35-40 K suit thats almost as good as a 200 + K isk suit and then you should always make a profit, if not every game, at least every day of playing. I don't get it.

I would try and goto some indie corp, say you would give them money just because you are rich. Firstly, they would need to give you something..so it would be a trust game. Say give me some isk and I will double it. Say they give you 1isk..give them 50k isk..its one click, say to them it was easier that way but you are serious youre talking millions.. and then if they give you 1m+ then give them your start money wether that be 100m, 200m etc.
try it, EVE/DUST full of scammers, but if some corp falls for it..then you can say be careful etc. Be the Peoples Champ- no homo

Everyone was quitting Everquest when DAoC, Star Wars Galaxy, and Everquest II came out. Everyone was quitting World of Warcraft when Aion, Age of Conan, Guild Wars 2, DC Universe Online, Rift, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Warhammer Online, etc.
People like to say "I am leaving X when Y comes out" but it generally does not happen. Their friends are still in X and they are familiar with it. EVE is completely different than anything else on the market; Economy MMO Simulator. I don't see Star Citizen going that route. |

You can run basic BPO suits and crank out even more profit. If you have them try these.
"Templar" Assault A-I "Templar" Scrambler Rifle "Templar" Scrampler Pistol 1 Enhanced Shield Extender 1 Basic Shield Extender (you perhaps could fit 2 Complex, but my Core Skills aren't maxed yet) 1 Enhanced Armor Plate Flux Grenade Stable Allotek Drop Uplink
Watch the WP and ISK roll in...
Next
"Staff Recruiter" MLT (Any Caldari MLT BPO, Raven, Covenant, Dragonfly, etc...) "Exile" Assault Rifle "Templar" Scrambler Pistol 1 Enhanced Shield Extender 1 Basic Shield Extender 1 Basic Armor Plate Flux Grenade Remote Explosives
Both of these suits are DIRT CHEAP but still very effective. I suppose they are only for veteran players who have the SP to use them which ironically; most vets aren't hurting for ISK...

You've already disregarded saving ISK for possible ISK sinks in the future; that's one of the reasons I don't run proto all the time. CCP has to fix the ISK problems that PC created; so, my guess is they'll make a mode (maybe PvE) that eats ISK up.
In my opinion, you're trying to justify (not like you have to) proto stomping in pubs when that's the only way to burn your ISK. The sad truth is that not everyone can enjoy that ISK generated by PC; so, they attempt to run proto--in order to counter your proto--but they simply don't have the funds to support it.
You ask those of us that save the ISK why we feel it's necessary to save imaginary money, which is a valid question. But I'll ask you why you feel the need to spend imaginary money when what you're spending it on--your ISK sink--has negative implications to the game and new players?
Running proto in pubs isn't fun to me; I would rather run Dragonfly with two toxin SMGs and die 10 to 20 times because all I want is real competition and good games.

I still don't get it. Why do you guys need the isk? What do you do With it? If it were just a matter of ISK, I'd run proto occasionally. But some of us simply don't have access to proto. You seem to forget how much harder it is to be competitive when you're still making hard choices like, "do I go for lvl 3 electronics, or my Adv suit".
But as to your original question, as someone else said, FW. If you want a good fight, go Caldari, if you just want to Troll, go wherever you want. It's like PC without as much Proto, and crap payouts.

I run advanced to better my gun play and tactics. A LOT of players use prototype gear as a crutch. You stick them in advanced gear and they get ****** in the ass by just about every red dot out there. People who wear proto ALL the time are probably wearing it all the time because they have to, not because they can afford it. They do it to keep their K/D shiny and fear their reputation would be sullied otherwise. Take Kalante Schiffer, now I KNOW he is probably reeling in ISK 24/7, however I only ever see him in proto gear in Pc, he still wrecks people in his ADV gear in pub matches. I try and be the same these days, and only pull proto in pubs when I really think it is necessary.
King I see you in your full proto most of the time I won't lie, and don't get me wrong I have the utmost respect for you, your corporation and your gun-play but when I've seen you in ADV gear you drop dead quick. Keep running your ADV gear or lower and actually improve your skill, stop using proto gear as a crutch even though you can afford it. That advice goes out to everyone. I have no problem with 'proto-stomping' and I never have, but for the betterment of one's self I do believe running prototype 24/7 is a very bad idea.

Best Idea gets a 10 M "thank you". Yep, this is the basic problem with the QQ about protostomping. THERE IS NOTHING ELSE TO SPEND ISK ON.
Plus, I actually have an unusual metaphysical view about what a merc is that is relevant here. Most people think their merc is 'immortal'. This is a Genolution motivational slogan, not a serious philosophical position. If I made a million identical copies of YOU (the actual player reading this), that wouldn't stop you from caring about what happened to YOU, the original version. If you get shot in the face, you're dead. Some other dudes (who happen to be identical copies) would survive, but that's scant consolation if you yourself have shuffled off this mortal coil. Similarly, if clone 1 is shot in the face, the fact that clone 2, clone 3, etc are still going does not change the fact that clone 1 is now dead.
How is this relevant to protostomping? Well, I don't think I'm immortal in battle. I care when I lose a clone, because that means I (the avatar occupied by me, the player) has died. That life will never come back. And I'll be damned if I'm going to increase my risk of death for the sake of mere ISK. |

What does a person do when they have enough ISK to run prototype stuff every match? Run prototype stuff every match. Why? Screw the enemy team, that's why. Make it easier on the enemy team I'm being paid to try and win against? Where is the logic?
Oh, but new players are quitting because people like KingBabar are running prototype stuff and making their games miserable. Yeah, and? If CCP didn't want this to happen, then it wouldn't happen. See where I'm going with this? It's not our job to make games easier for people on the enemy team.
What KingBabar is asking himself is: If they're running cheap suits all the time, surely they've got to have loads of ISK. What can they be spending it on?
Well, to answer this question, let us take a look at another argument: Running prototype suits is not necessary all the time. No, no it's not, but what else are you going to do with your vast piles of ISK?
Running lesser gear makes you better when you run prototype stuff: An argument which holds some weight. If you can down better suits whilst wearing standard, then obviously you're doing something better than the other guy.
Blah blah blah, arguments for and against.
I'm not here to start an argument, I admit my thoughts may have wandered away from what I was originally trying to say: People can run whatever they like, and you can't do anything about it, because this is intended game mechanics. If you can do it, and keep doing it for months, and CCP knows you can do it because they let you do it, then behaviour like this must empower the player to make them feel like they have a choice to do whatever they like. That must be a sandbox element that CCP wants.
Locking districts? Glitches? Unintended, as stated by CCP themselves. Don't bring them up. Doing them is excusable because CCP can't stop it, but are trying to fix it.
If CCP say protostomping is something they want to change somehow, then fine. If they said it was unacceptable, then they would do something.
What am I writing this for, I don't know. Agh, I don't even know why, or how I even came out with this.
Anyway: It's the player's choice, and you've got no right in dictating this choice unless you are said individual or CCP. It's out of your hands. Accept that.
That's enough from me, I need a cold drink and need to get back to reading. And back to our usual weather forecast: Cloudy, raining, with a chance of bullets and death and whatnot. Goodbye. |

Oh don't get me wrong, I get my ass whooped in proto gear a lot. Almost more so than ADV because people see me with Proto and they're eager to take it off. My point really is that just because you CAN run proto, doesn't mean you have to. I've gotten to a point now where with my adv I can take on most proto assaults, and with my ADV heavy I can take on most proto Heavies. It's a good training point I'd recommend it highly.
Also, many people have suggested good ideas along the lines of trying out new areas that require more skill and patience that what you and I do. Knifing, plasma cannons, flaylocks, Laser rifles, Commandos. Something ridiculous. I have a surplus of ISK too, and I mainly use it to support my friends and invest in new toys to play with rather than just my assault weapons :)

If you are to poor to run proto then run enhanced and problem solved.
I still don't get it. Why do you guys need the isk? What do you do With it?
Ok, this is how my isk is spent.
I am one of the guys who flies the derpship to lay proto uplinks - derpship 28k, 5 proto links laid down a scan + ADV suit 48k Then usually 5 proto hives after I die, quick scan - 98k then ADV gear 55k die 5x then theres a tank, and WJR normally do a good job with the AV but still 1 or 2 suits at 60k then back to my ADV gear or Core rep logi 55k-70k
So I probably spend approx 650k, die around 10 times, maybe kill 15 guys, get 2500wp and take 250k isk from the pot. I help my team but completely at my expense. Im not a bad player, not a killer either my KDR is 1.40 I have 40m Isk. I do the ocacasional PC(want to do more!!) and usually in the top 3 for WP in both pubs and PC.
So thats how my isk is spent. If I ran proto it would be the same but more isk spent. I am a poor logi been playing since closed beta who has 30m SP

Either way, here you get to convert your ISK into LPs. You could stockpile some of that whilst you have nothing better to do with the ISK and knowing you can always make more.
I don't run proto because I will be ISK negative so it's not a viable long term solution for me - I will go broke. I run advanced and make a bit of money. Besides these days I'm averaging 1 - 2 KDR so my game has improved. One day I will go out in a proto suit with proto weapons and see if it makes me any better...but not until I can fit proto weapons etc.
Several times I've died to you so fast I know you're aiming at my head means you're probably an above average player if not top-ranked. Your SP will also come into it too, because advanced tier benefits from higher skills too. I have L4 minmatar scout role which makes my advanced suit better than someone with the (requisite for advanced) L3 in that skill. I'm also well into the Shotgun and Scrambler pistol trees, more than is required for advanced versions of those weapons.
Basically: not everybody is gonna make as much ISK as you do running advanced. Some may make more. |

Ive been running the following;
1 SVER Logistics BPO 1 GEK38 1 Complex Damage Mod 1 Enhances Shield extender 1 Stable Uplink 1 ADV Stable Scanner 1 Compact Nanohive 2 Enhanced Plates.
Grand total of about 30k ISK
Now if everyone on the other team is not experianced enough or lack decent squads then ill do great in this suit.
But for some reason when ever i see a half decent squad on the other team, there always in proto gear?
Id say its because **** STB BLAH DE BLAH or there that scared they have to run proto 'Just in case' they might die to the STB scrublet bacon eaters.
So inevitably my proto suit comes out and it escalates and where back to square one.

You are doing it right. Seriously keep doing what you are doing. Proto users who are not good enough to run proto at a profit in public matches are helping the game economy wise. You are contributing to wealth redistribution from PC to Public by loseing your gear in public contracts because the payout on the other side and the ISK you burn off is higher. People like me that have hundreds of millions of ISK yet run sub 30k suits at a profit all the time are the problem.
Come back and ask again when you get good enough to run proto at a profit.

Start an alt, start a new corp. start another alt, get as many players from the academy as you can into your new corp. And as far as what do I do with my income? My average suit runs around 24k isk. I fly ADS and my favorite ships is 504k isk. So I try to run a decent ground game and keep the garage tip top.
Would I want money to support my flying habit? Not really, I can do fine all on my own. But that isk of yours could be invested in helping our player base grow.

Good question. As a scout that loves to do stupid things from time to time (you get a mad rush when you actually pull it off!) I lose suites like crazy and still manage to come our ahead each week. To stack on top of that I even pull out a tank out of boredom and just act reckless! Even though I usually lose my tank every time I call it in I can still come out ahead at the end of the day without ever needing to resort to a free fit. Stack on the fact that I give corp members millions of ISK JUST FOR MAKING ME LAUGH and I am at a complete loss. The only expectable cause for being low on ISK is to be a strict vehicle player in which case you might as well be running proto suits full-time.
Always run ADV gear, never spent real money so no blueprints, and I'm always donating(gave my corp about 50million) yet there are infantry (and even whole corps) that look at me like I am an ISK god or something. Makes no sense.
My attempt to answer your question: Donate to training corps so that they can continue helping the community.

Doing them is not excusable because CCP say they are tryng to fix it. They say it is something they want to fix, but we are going to have to deal with them in the meantime however we can.
Goodbye. Holy ****....great post and QFT.

I agree on the choice, encouraging players to keep fighting is a great use of your ISK. I would also like to say thank you to all the players who run their expensive gear, one reason our rewards are so crap these days is because so many are in cheap as **** suits due to the TTK issues.

KingBabar wrote:I said good suggestions.
Just 1 question, how much isk do you make per match? Because I rarely make more than 200k, so after 4 deaths, I lose money running my amarr logi

Lol. I'm not a leet player by any stretch, but hopefully I'm not actually bad. If one assumes that King uses my suggestion, then he's not "doing nothing else".
It may give you some comfort to know that one thing I will not be using the money on is protostomping, I've used a grand total of 1 proto suit in a pub in my Dust career. I also frequently give newer players in my corp ISK if they need it, I've probably donated close to 20-30 million. I'm guessing my wallet stands around 40 mil now after King's award but I'm at work.
Anyway, thank you King, glad you found my suggestion helpful and I hope that you put it into action and it actually helps keep people in the game. Let's face it, the NPE is important to all of us.

To an extent what you say is true, but my personal opinion (which is just that, an opinion) is that while protostomping is much less of a problem than the lolmatchmaking, it doesn't mean you have to or should do it. Taking your sandbox argument, I would say that I use the sandbox to enhance the NPE because it's crucial to the survival of the game. As such I don't run proto in pubs. Others disagree, and that's their prerogative, but perhaps they could consider only using proto when there's good players on the other team. Just food for thought.
(If there was some way King's ISK could be used to fund matchmaking, that would have been my suggestion; sadly I don't think it's feasible.)

The way I see it u can use ur isk in one of two ways.
1. Make it fun by offering challenges/bounties for ur team, and rewarding ppl that listen to your advice on the field. Generally encourage and help out the little guys.
2. Be a knob, keep protostomping in locked squads with no communication with the rest of the team, leaving no chance for the noobs on either side to even meet let alone shoot each other.
