As an old Mass Driver user since Chromosome : NO. This is WAY too powerful.
Mass driver were totally OP. You never fix it : Instead you've bring even more OP weapons. Making the TTK so low that the game became unplayable.

We need a damn higher TTK. If i wanted to play a fast FPS i would not play dust i would play BF or other. Even BF4 grenade launchers deals less damage. |

Maybe they realized balancing off of forum tears is a bad way to do things.

Trololol. If you're in Flux Range, you're being melted by Rifle users in proto suits. Needing 2 weapons to do a worse job than a person with a Rifle doesn't scream OP at all. Please take into account the fact that multiple suits are getting a buff against the MD, one suit class will be virtually immune to the weapon, and the MD is already bad against proto suits. |

pitty the MD is irreverent since it has 1/3 the DPS of rifles with out a guaranty to hit, any one in a pro suit just sprints through the explosions sticks their rifle in your chest and instadeads you.

Throw in sidearms that will be hilariously OP for at least a month (because CCP is incapable of making anything balanced when it first launches, see: every new weapon ever), and the game will be unplayable for anyone not using FOTM **** again.

They're nerfing everything else and then buffing LR and MD. You can go as far back as literally the last patch to see how well buffing UP stuff/nerfing OP stuff. Enjoying Tanks 514? I know I'm not. More than half the game used MD before AA came to town at its current stats, and it was OP then. Now it will be even more powerful, and one suit will be able to spam it for twice as long before reloading while another will get a 10% damage buff to it.
Yes, I'm worried, because I have played this game forever and know what's about to happen.

also note that the heavy's getting an hp buff and resistance, we still don't have the final numbers for logi and assault, this may be a MD buff to prevent them from becoming obsolete, time will tell... personaly i think a longer ttk would make them viable again without damage buff, i don't want them to be op, just ok... bring the muthafking smoke back while we're at it

And? Aim Assist will always keep your aim at least in the ballpark, and hit detection has been greatly improved since 1.4.
Heavies are immune to the weapon Assaults and Commandos resist the weapon Nanohive nerf makes it hard to keep the weapon resupplied
You can't tell me that the MD is worth using in 1.8 if it didn't get a buff combined with the above changes. If the MD doesn't provide the threat of actually being able to kill proto suits over time, then it fails at it's job as an area deny/breach tool. You act like the weapon is 2-shotting 1.8 Heavies, it will still have bad to outright terrible match-ups against dropsuit classes and maps.
Cosgar was right when he said the MD will be doing it's job when people complain about the weapon. |

It will remain a niche secondary support weapon even with the minor buff.
The RoF is so slow that you would require a splash of over 250 to have a chance in a 1v1. It's still going to be used from behind the line or its user will die quickly.
I still plan on dumping it if we get a weapons respec. It's just not good enough to carry as a main weapon. |

I think the idea is that it will function as suppression / area denial and if you get into a head on fight with anyone you can always whip out a proto smg (yay fitting cost reductions!) with 100 rounds in its magazine and blast them to pieces with that.
Once again my only concern is that the mass driver total ammo carried needs to go up to say 36 base and +5% per ammo skill level. |

No i'm not melted at all i laugh at proto suits. Anyone that know how to uses this weapon will become terribly a beast. If you rush ennemies with it well you're stupid.

Actually the MD is totally OP against dropsuits it WAS NEVER FIXED. I don't care about others weapons i care about the fact the TTK is too low. I care about the fact with these numbers i acutally can OS 75% of suits with my Proficiency 5 and 1/2 enhanced damager. I care about a weapon that can 250 damage in splash and can be spammed 11 time. I care about a TTK so low that makes me play BF because it's the same but BF is technically better and because fitting in Dust has become USELESS.
You don't fix op weapons (MD) briging even more OP weapons. (rifles) You can't fix these Op weapons (Rifles) and then buff the old OP weapons (MD) This just DON'T WORK. With this Logic in 3 months EVERY WEAPON CAN INSTANT KILL. |

I'm not sure about this whole thing yet. I really don't want MD to be FOTM again. However, I wonder if the fact that this bonus will only be for the weakest assault suit in the game is enough to balance it out. I like it on paper but it has the potential to go very badly in game.
The general direct/splash damage buff I like though. Keep that.

The reason the MD was so prelevant was because it was the first weapon with working hit detection. You could jump in the face of a rifle user and dance your way through his bullets. It disappeared after 1.4 hit because the rifles actually managed to consistently hit for the advertised DPS.
The MD still has nearly 3 times less DPS than the rifles.
