Also, the new Direct/Splash damage is of a STD Mass Driver so it's like the old chromosome PRO stats with the 10% damage compensation from Uprising launch... new PRO stats will come with another 10% damage buff (159.5 dmg). Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to purchase a planet sized cemetery.

More than half the game used MD before AA came to town at its current stats, and it was OP then. Now it will be even more powerful, and one suit will be able to spam it for twice as long before reloading while another will get a 10% damage buff to it. Yes, I'm worried, because I have played this game forever and know what's about to happen. The reason the MD was so prelevant was because it was the first weapon with working hit detection. You could jump in the face of a rifle user and dance your way through his bullets. It disappeared after 1.4 hit because the rifles actually managed to consistently hit for the advertised DPS. The MD still has nearly 3 times less DPS than the rifles.
Comparing DPS values of rifles and high alpha weapons like the MD is at least strange. The MD has other advantages than DPS the Direct damage is enough to OHK most cheaper scouts and if you fire into a crowd of people the DPS can be really high.
And one thing to consider is the abilitry to spam explosive weapons those should never be spammable. Grenade spam is already really bad but this will be even worse.

what days are you remembering? I only remember days when I saw at most 3 per match and most of those were me and one other corp mate running two of them. not too mention I always loved fighting MDs either they got me in a bad situation where an AR would have killed me faster or I killed them.
On the other hand none of the other suit bonuses are really buffs so mim might be preatty common depending on what other rifles are getting nerfed this build. |

Nah seriously the purpose is to increase TTK. NO WEAPONS should have a damage buff. Nerf Rifles and SMG. And the "buff" to underdog weapons must be something else than "damage" or "dps" Don't forget MD was totally OP before rifles and was NEVER FIXED.
MD => Add more ammo capacity. Laser Rifle => Change the range. an "optimal range" of 20 meters and a drop-off everywhere else at 10% damage is stupid.

hmmm did squads start to realize how much MD scale when used in hoards or with a logi back man?? still if they are not syncing their shots you just run up to them and insta die them.
really MD were never OP, but ammo capacity would be good but again only with a rifle nerf, but I would rather see that applied by nerfing bullet mag thats what made rifles OP as a mother. |

Yes it is strange but its the point, the MD is meant to be comparable as a Short Range Breaching weapons, it does not do that at the moment, because the TTK for the MD is SO High, yes the MD has other advantages because it's a niche weapon.
SPAM is a word thrown around a lot on here, it means to send the same message (often pointless) to many people, but I'll assume you mean the rapid overuse of explosives. So I will ask you a series of questions. Is 1 a Second really Spam?
Would you be suppressed if the ROF was less?
Would the Mass Driver be capable of its job, excludimg the breach, if the ROF was reduced. The answer to all 3 is no.

MD was never FOTM. Never.
During all of Dust's history, the AR has been the weapon of choice by a large factor - outnumbering the combined use of 10 weapons. Yes, those 10 weapons that AR users alone outnumbered included the MD.
Dust is still AR 514 it's just that we have a couple of more ARs. The TTK still reflects this. The game designers desperately need to realize that generalists weapons need to not exist in favor of strong niche weapons only.
Hitscan shooters are, by definition, weaksauce. |
