There's a good name for the clones in the ps home event horizon long but I don't remember what it's was.
A faction name for disillusioned clones who don't want to fight. But they could just that to be dust clones in general. |

I can see, where EVE clones are engineered to be very human with various genetic makeups, our DUST cloes are likely almost purely the exact same as each other, and are all engineered for war.
Perhaps Purebloods, Sames, or Copy and Pastes would also be cool

After looking at Interplanetary Insanitarium's post above me, I got an idea.
We should call Dust Mercenaries, Legionnaires.
It works perfectly, imo. Legion means, "a large group of armed men," "multitude," "military unit," and then some. Legionnaire, itself, means a member of a military force or association.
Being that each mercenary has a "legion" of clones at their disposal, it works well as a title.
It's also smooth in speech. Nothing too complicate in tongue or in making situations awkward.
"Capsuleers and Legionnaires of New Eden..."
Yeah it sounds damn good.

Mordu's Legion would probably have a quarrel over the name though. Also our numbers are not that large, we easily outnumbered ten thousands mortals to one non immortal soldiers

I like Necronauts.
Of course necro means death while naut means voyager, tripper, or essentially traveller.
Since what kills us literally makes us stronger, Necornauts is a good choice imo. It's not as smooth as Legionnaire or Capsuleer but it's pretty neutral and sterile as well.

Edit: or Exnaut which is short for Existence Naut, which would mean like Existence Voyager/Adventurer. Fits well because one does go into the ins and outs of existence as a mercenary.

Ok seeing as this got resurrected again...
I amend my suggestion of gropo to be Drop Mercs....
Why?
Because players are forgetting the very important link to space that we come from, hence why the armor we wear is called a DROPsuit. We are dropped from orbit into the toughest combat situations known to man. Hell the intro video for the game even shows an example of this! The ships we pilot are called DROPships, because we DROP from them. etc...
Mercs because we fight for pay and don't have to work for only one side of factional warfare. The EVE markets (and there are many of them) need to be opened up for us to use as well. As mercenaries we live or die based upon the quality and utility of the gear we use. We fund that by pay and salvage, but without a market to buy and sell our services and gear we become stagnant and worthless.
HEAR ME CCP! Without the market, DROP MERCS become worthless!
Get with it and combine the games already!
