It definitely lacks of ambiance during the battle. Sorry to say that but the game is Cold. It need voices from the soldiers. Every FPS have this. No voice during battle exept a robot voice.......
Dust 514 needs Voice. That would make a REAL diffrence between male and female characters.
It need a "GRENAAAADE" when you throw one. It need "MEDIIC" when your armor falls down 25%. It need "Shield Down" when it's down. It need a "Ennemy tank" when you shoot a tank. It need a "Ennemy infantry" when you're shooting one. It need a "Careful i'm reloading" when reloading. It need a "Uplink : Set." when you set a link. It need a "I'm NAKEEEEEEED" when you have fall under 20hp and survived 5sec. It need a "Damn you slave" when as an Amarr a Minmatarr killed you. (Factional) It need a "Is this you...gods ?" when you die as an Amarr. (Factional) It need "For FREEDOM" when you kill an Amarr as Minmatarr. (Factional) It need "Go back to work SLAVE" when you kill a Minmatarr as an Amarr. (Factional) It need "For the Empress !" when you kill as an Amarr (Factional) It need "Orbital strike is COMING" when a squad leader is preparing strike. It need "Sky it's up to you now." when you call a strike. It need "Hives here." when you use a Hive. It need "Who wants repair" when you get out your repair tool. It need "I need repair !!" when you are aimig a nearby logi with less than 50% armor. It need "Whooooo [Insert vehicule name] destroyed" when you destroy one. It need " Hacking, cover my back please." when hacking objectives." It need "Nice suit" when you're watching Proto suits in Warbarge. It need "Nice stuff, but didn't saved you. *laughing*" when killing a proto as ADV/STD." It need "Get away !" when roadkill or push allies with your vehicule It need a "I'm invicible !!!!!!" when active hardeners on Tank. It need "We're going down we're going down" when your dropships falls down.
Got hundread of ideas basically this is just some voice recording and some scripts. Ideas are easy to have. And lot of them could be a little "funny". (Like the NAKEEEEED" or other) or Racial (Factionnal)
Battles would be lot more enjoying. New/old players would get less bored. That would be REALLY COOL. |

Would be too complicated. English => Easier and everybody understand them.
Voices could be really useful : "You see more than 5 ennemy" need enforcement. Or asking for ammo / help / vehicule place etcetc....
Like in BF4 (loacted) would be useless. I mean you can use Commorose but they speak in native languages so at the end asking ammo is asked in chinese which is pretty useless. |

If well done, i'd support it. It needs to make sense in the EVE universe though and i also would like it to be present but not excessively as to become a nuisance. It would need to recognise when to activate voice based on nearby elements too. If you have friendly players nearby, yes, say something based on what you do. But, if there's no friendlies nearby, it should make you silent to not jeopardize moments when you're trying to be stealthy.

I think since we're using TACNET system and vision you could only hear allies.
Or ennemy only when you're dying. (Taunt like when a Amarr kills minmatarr : "Dead or alive slave stay a slave No freedom for you here." or at the contrary "You grant me chains i grant you death").

Don't forget we're all using TACNET system. Every mercenary is linked.

One of the pieces of fiction on the Dust site talks about a female character who's in the body of a 200lb male. If I remember right it said that they're all in identical bodies, so it could have just been the early days of the process and they've diversified a bit since.

He don't talk to you..... He taunt ennemies when you kill them. He talk to nearby allies. He ask help and others.

It's not out of the realms of possibility that voice messages between dropsuits are encoded. After all, if all it took to listen into the enemy's comms is to tune the 'radio' to the right frequency, it would be pretty easy.

Regular voices. These are only heard by your team members if you within 20 or so meters from them. These play in Pubs and FW, but not in PC.
"Grenade!" when one is thrown near you. "Grenade out." when you throw a Locus or AV 'nade. "Flux out." when you throw a Flux 'nade. "I need repairs!" when your armor falls down 25%. "Enemy HAV." when an Enemy HAV enters your field of view. "Reloading." when reloading a non Amarrian weapon. "Changing Cells." when reloading an Amarrian weapon. "Uplink set." when you set a link. "Equipment destroyed." when you destroy an equipment. "Scanning" when you scan. "Ammo here." when placing a hive. "Sniper!" When first shot with a sniper rifle. Not every time you are shot! "I need Ammo!" When your run out of ammo with a weapon.
Factional Taunts. These are heard by the killer and victim, but not the victim's allies, These only have a 15% chance of playing. They can only be heard by the victim if they are close enough to their killer when they die (about 20m). These only play in FW.
Amarrian FW "See the Light." "For the Empire!" "For God!" "Down, (scum/infidel/wretch/heathen)" when an Amarrian FWer kills a Gallente or Minmatar Character
"You have betrayed your State!" "We were supposed to be (allies/friends)." when an Amarrian FWer kills a Caldari Character
"God knows your deeds!" "You will never see Paradise!" "God help you, (brother/sister)." when an Amarrian FWer kills an Amarrian Character
Caldari FW "Filthy Gallentean" "For the State!" "Hippy..." when a Caldari FWer kills a Gallente Character
"Primitives..." "Tribal scum." when a Caldari FWer kills a Minmatar Character
"Have you forgotten our Alliance?!" when a Caldari FWer kills an Amarrian Character
"Traitor!" "The People will hear of your treachery!" when a Caldari FWer kills a Caldari Character
Gallente FW "Caldari traitor!" "Your State will fall!"....
"Filthy Amarrian" "Where is your God now!"....
"Damn Matari" "We are supposed to be allies!"....
"Traitor!" "How could you turn on the Federation!?"....
Minmatar FW "For freedom!" "Your people will pay for what they did!" "The Empire will fall!"....
I can't think of anymore for Minmatar... I don't really know them well enough.

It would be much better if you had option to point out something of interest, then get the relevant shout out. Also proximity chat, should override this in the end.

And sound. Because someone can't tell you how weapon sounds like isn't ? And skins, because someone else can't tell you how your weapon looks like. Sorry but your argument is....pretty weird.
Why is my argument weird? My character is supposed to be a representation of me, Her voice should be my voice.
With your idea, every merc will have one of a handfull of voices meaning every match you'll have characters on both sides that sound exactly like yours.
Plus, if suits are sealed and soundproof (I know there's nothing that says either way on that yet) the only people hearing your voice would be you and others on comms. If you want to hear a voice when you do certain things, just do it yourself in RL. As a sniper, I don't want some random voice making some sort of exaltation when I make a kill. That breaks the immersion, such as it is, for me.

also as has been said if you want voices, try using comms. your team mates arn't bots, they are people, if they want to talk they will.

I wouldn't be surprised if each race (or even each bloodline) had it's own racial language as well. I know it's not been as long, but just look at how many different languages we still have on one planet. Even if they all shared a root language, they were apart for long enoug after the collapse of the eve gate that racial languages could easily have evolved.

They quit because the game is technically 4 years ******. No atmosphere. No battle voices. Minmal Battle sound. And before 5 million SP the "skill" system is almost pointless.
Dust choose "core" of the game skills/ RPG system instead of graphism or other. That's great and that's what make Dust a unique game.
Problem : Before 1/2 months of playing this aspect of the game is almost absent.

I know this is just me, but I 've found there to be plenty of atmosphere in Dust. I would rather not have 'battle voices', if you want that, try doing it yourself in voice.
There are plenty of 'battle noises' each weapon makes it's own sound, as does each piece of active equipment. And even footfalls make a noise. I would quite happily lose the generic grunts as my character moves around, ecause it's hardly immersive for my female merc to sound like a guy when she moves.
And at 10 million SP, the skill system is still relevant to me.
Of course I'm also coming to Dust with 7 years off and on in EVE behind me and I understand that maybe a lot of others don't have that.
This isn't a themepark game like BF or CoD. It's part of a greater sandbox game. Personally, I think it would have helped them to delay launch for a year or two, get all the gear and vehicles in as well as a PvE system and have theplayer market ready from launch. However, we, and more importantly CCP, have to deal with the reality of the situation. The basic game is out, they're working on adding the rest of the core components and trying to keep the game balanced as best they can whilst doing it. Once all the basic gear is in, all the dropsuit types for each race for example, then they'll move onto the next part, imo either PvE or the Market. Once the game is up to it's full status and has been live on TQ alongside EVE for long enough to know it 's stable, that's when you should be evaluating it.

I respect your opinion. "Battle sound" are not just gunfire and active noise. It's like...wind between trees, brid sound. Engine sound. Per example the giant pipelin, why not a light sound when your near of it ? Or a "charge up" sound coming from the Big orbital Cannon sometimes ? Sound of a spaceship. etcetc.....
I respect opinion but if you "personnaly" don't want voices then i don't really see why you don't want them to happen. I mean they disturbing you : Disable (put volume of "voices" in option at 0) and it would be the same than before for you. |

I can understand including environmental noises, I'm good with that. Character voices? If ever, then in the future when we have bars we can belly up to on stations and in districts. Not till then. I don't see it as important to the goal of the game design, and more importantly to me it encourages the 'wrong' behaviors or gets in the way of the 'right' behaviors.
One of the most troubling thing in pubs is getting stomped by other players. But I am not just talking about being out-skilled and out-suited--some people have been here longer than others, I can deal with that--I'm talking about being out-teamed. Maybe CCP brought out Dust with too little sandbox and too much lobby-shooter in it's current gameplay, but too many people run solo not in teams, and don't have comms on for anything other than talking trash or shooting the breeze.
Instead of coordinating pushes on null-cannons. Instead of seeing who on the team can fill vital roles of a well-rounded team. Instead of alerting teammates to open flanks the reds are exploiting.
If you want to hear human voices, get on voice chat. Be a helper. Teach newbs. Make Dust a more welcoming place and take the edge off for those new people who are running starter suits, maybe they'll actually stick around. Be part of the community. (A silent player isn't part of the community, they're just a smarter npc.) Employ coordination and tactics as a force multiplier.

It seems that the original idea is already dieing, but I still wanted to add that it would be great to have one day those voices. CCP could hire actors or record their own employees. We are mercenaries, so whatever voices say it should be full of that enigmatic military jargon, like: 'zero-sixth-hundred' instead of 'sixth am'. The more sophisticated way of saying something in military way of speaking the better. (with time, certain phrases are passed in memory). Voices should be different by accent of faction and have unique slogan words related to bloodline. Swear words - we should have new ones(no ones know what 'frack' mean before BSG, or 'shtako' before Defiance), it would be cool to have new kind of them(the world must move forward).

I support this, and im finding increasingly more things from battlefield 4 that can be applied to this and I don't even play it that much, have a menu of commands that you can use to let the team know when you're low on ammo or need help or need transportation.

Only read op sp sorry if this has been said.
Voice commands rather than reactions would be better IMO. Something similar to Counter-Strike where there's a preset list of sayings and you choose them at will. Makes it more situational and a lot less annoying as you won't be hearing them a thousand times a match. However this is more suited to a keyboard, could be tricky with a DS3. |

And almost every multiplayer games since...almost ever. Tremulous / Counter Strike etcetc.... People thinks the game don' have new players because they quit after protostomp. WRONG. The only thing they saw is a poor technical FPS with no immersion almost unplayable. Wind and ambient noise from buildings and equipment I can understand, for wind between trees, we'll have to wait untill trees are implemented though. Birds and other animals however, we wouldn't hear them. With the noise from guns, tanks and dropships, birds will have flown off and animals would have run away or be hiding.
The charge up and spaceships sounds aren't something we would hear considering they're in space.
I don't really want voices to be included because it breaks the immersion more than it helps it. If every clone has the same voice, regardless of race or gender, never mind them actually being different people with different vocal patterns, that would just not be realistic. And there is already a system in place where your character can make comments, warn about grenades or snipers, or even issue commands. It's called voice chat. That way your clone even gets it's own unique voice as well. Why bother putting in a system that would be less immersive? I believe as systems get put in place which enable more than just one squad to join a match together, when each side can be made up entirely from a corp or alliance, comm discipline on voice will improve, just as in EVE fleets, when they're on an op, comms are for FC's and important information only.
When I play as a sniper, I'm more likely to be nearer to the opponents redline than my own.

While I'm not against putting something like this in, it is low priority. Voice is quicker, harder to miss, capable of more, and already there. Doesn't have to be DUST voice if you want, use TS3/Vent/Mumble if you want...
