Finally someone that understand. Admit it it would be damn good ^^ I prefer that someone else doesn't tell me what my character sounds like to be honest. I see. then you go option and disable voice. And sound. Because someone can't tell you how weapon sounds like isn't ? And skins, because someone else can't tell you how your weapon looks like. Sorry but your argument is....pretty weird.
Why is my argument weird? My character is supposed to be a representation of me, Her voice should be my voice.
With your idea, every merc will have one of a handfull of voices meaning every match you'll have characters on both sides that sound exactly like yours.
Plus, if suits are sealed and soundproof (I know there's nothing that says either way on that yet) the only people hearing your voice would be you and others on comms. If you want to hear a voice when you do certain things, just do it yourself in RL. As a sniper, I don't want some random voice making some sort of exaltation when I make a kill. That breaks the immersion, such as it is, for me.
When I play as a sniper, I'm more likely to be nearer to the opponents redline than my own.

Actually it's been long established in the lore that all the people in new eden speak in the same language, they have been incontact with a each other for a long time, all pretty much come from the same group of people a long time ago.
also as has been said if you want voices, try using comms. your team mates arn't bots, they are people, if they want to talk they will.

I wouldn't be surprised if each race (or even each bloodline) had it's own racial language as well. I know it's not been as long, but just look at how many different languages we still have on one planet. Even if they all shared a root language, they were apart for long enoug after the collapse of the eve gate that racial languages could easily have evolved.

Actually, it's fine without voices, but maybe a few more grunts would be cool. Like, when you fall from a 10 feet platform as a scout and lose 90% of your health, you'd think that some voice of pain would slip out.

They quit because the game is technically 4 years ******. No atmosphere. No battle voices. Minmal Battle sound. And before 5 million SP the "skill" system is almost pointless.
Dust choose "core" of the game skills/ RPG system instead of graphism or other. That's great and that's what make Dust a unique game.
Problem : Before 1/2 months of playing this aspect of the game is almost absent.
The only thing they saw is a poor technical FPS with no immersion almost unplayable. |

I know this is just me, but I 've found there to be plenty of atmosphere in Dust. I would rather not have 'battle voices', if you want that, try doing it yourself in voice.
There are plenty of 'battle noises' each weapon makes it's own sound, as does each piece of active equipment. And even footfalls make a noise. I would quite happily lose the generic grunts as my character moves around, ecause it's hardly immersive for my female merc to sound like a guy when she moves.
And at 10 million SP, the skill system is still relevant to me.
Of course I'm also coming to Dust with 7 years off and on in EVE behind me and I understand that maybe a lot of others don't have that.
This isn't a themepark game like BF or CoD. It's part of a greater sandbox game. Personally, I think it would have helped them to delay launch for a year or two, get all the gear and vehicles in as well as a PvE system and have theplayer market ready from launch. However, we, and more importantly CCP, have to deal with the reality of the situation. The basic game is out, they're working on adding the rest of the core components and trying to keep the game balanced as best they can whilst doing it. Once all the basic gear is in, all the dropsuit types for each race for example, then they'll move onto the next part, imo either PvE or the Market. Once the game is up to it's full status and has been live on TQ alongside EVE for long enough to know it 's stable, that's when you should be evaluating it.

I respect your opinion. "Battle sound" are not just gunfire and active noise. It's like...wind between trees, brid sound. Engine sound. Per example the giant pipelin, why not a light sound when your near of it ? Or a "charge up" sound coming from the Big orbital Cannon sometimes ? Sound of a spaceship. etcetc.....
I respect opinion but if you "personnaly" don't want voices then i don't really see why you don't want them to happen. I mean they disturbing you : Disable (put volume of "voices" in option at 0) and it would be the same than before for you. |

I can understand including environmental noises, I'm good with that. Character voices? If ever, then in the future when we have bars we can belly up to on stations and in districts. Not till then. I don't see it as important to the goal of the game design, and more importantly to me it encourages the 'wrong' behaviors or gets in the way of the 'right' behaviors.
One of the most troubling thing in pubs is getting stomped by other players. But I am not just talking about being out-skilled and out-suited--some people have been here longer than others, I can deal with that--I'm talking about being out-teamed. Maybe CCP brought out Dust with too little sandbox and too much lobby-shooter in it's current gameplay, but too many people run solo not in teams, and don't have comms on for anything other than talking trash or shooting the breeze.
Instead of coordinating pushes on null-cannons. Instead of seeing who on the team can fill vital roles of a well-rounded team. Instead of alerting teammates to open flanks the reds are exploiting.
If you want to hear human voices, get on voice chat. Be a helper. Teach newbs. Make Dust a more welcoming place and take the edge off for those new people who are running starter suits, maybe they'll actually stick around. Be part of the community. (A silent player isn't part of the community, they're just a smarter npc.) Employ coordination and tactics as a force multiplier.

It seems that the original idea is already dieing, but I still wanted to add that it would be great to have one day those voices. CCP could hire actors or record their own employees. We are mercenaries, so whatever voices say it should be full of that enigmatic military jargon, like: 'zero-sixth-hundred' instead of 'sixth am'. The more sophisticated way of saying something in military way of speaking the better. (with time, certain phrases are passed in memory). Voices should be different by accent of faction and have unique slogan words related to bloodline. Swear words - we should have new ones(no ones know what 'frack' mean before BSG, or 'shtako' before Defiance), it would be cool to have new kind of them(the world must move forward).

I support this, and im finding increasingly more things from battlefield 4 that can be applied to this and I don't even play it that much, have a menu of commands that you can use to let the team know when you're low on ammo or need help or need transportation.
