One of the pieces of fiction on the Dust site talks about a female character who's in the body of a 200lb male. If I remember right it said that they're all in identical bodies, so it could have just been the early days of the process and they've diversified a bit since.

Unless "taunts" but it's on death screen Don't forget we're all using TACNET system. Every mercenary is linked. It's not out of the realms of possibility that voice messages between dropsuits are encoded. After all, if all it took to listen into the enemy's comms is to tune the 'radio' to the right frequency, it would be pretty easy.

And sound. Because someone can't tell you how weapon sounds like isn't ? And skins, because someone else can't tell you how your weapon looks like. Sorry but your argument is....pretty weird.
Why is my argument weird? My character is supposed to be a representation of me, Her voice should be my voice.
With your idea, every merc will have one of a handfull of voices meaning every match you'll have characters on both sides that sound exactly like yours.
Plus, if suits are sealed and soundproof (I know there's nothing that says either way on that yet) the only people hearing your voice would be you and others on comms. If you want to hear a voice when you do certain things, just do it yourself in RL. As a sniper, I don't want some random voice making some sort of exaltation when I make a kill. That breaks the immersion, such as it is, for me.

You know you are +¦ber boring bro you might sh-ít diamonds being that serious but it's not fun and it hurt a lot I have no idea what you mean by that.
Also, I am not your, nor anyone else's 'bro'. The simple fact that I'm female prevents that. Please leave your mistaken gender stereotypes where they belong, in the past.

My mistake if that's what they meant. I thought someone was trying to be clever and suggest that the voices should be in the various in-game races languages. Your idea makes more sense.

also as has been said if you want voices, try using comms. your team mates arn't bots, they are people, if they want to talk they will.
I wouldn't be surprised if each race (or even each bloodline) had it's own racial language as well. I know it's not been as long, but just look at how many different languages we still have on one planet. Even if they all shared a root language, they were apart for long enoug after the collapse of the eve gate that racial languages could easily have evolved.

No, I seriously want them to be in incomprehensible, made-up languages. Immersion and whatnot. Oh, sarcasm. That's original.
Seriously though. It was a mistake on my part. Most of my posts yesterday were about lore subjects so my mind went first to it being a lore thing. After Alena Ventrallis pointed out my mistake, it was one of those, 'Oh Yeah, that was a bit dumb of me' moments.
At the same time it took a little over 11 hours for anyone to comment about it so I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who's mind went that way first.

No battle voices. Minmal Battle sound. And before 5 million SP the "skill" system is almost pointless. Dust choose "core" of the game skills/ RPG system instead of graphism or other. That's great and that's what make Dust a unique game. Problem : Before 1/2 months of playing this aspect of the game is almost absent. The only thing they saw is a poor technical FPS with no immersion almost unplayable.
I know this is just me, but I 've found there to be plenty of atmosphere in Dust. I would rather not have 'battle voices', if you want that, try doing it yourself in voice.
There are plenty of 'battle noises' each weapon makes it's own sound, as does each piece of active equipment. And even footfalls make a noise. I would quite happily lose the generic grunts as my character moves around, ecause it's hardly immersive for my female merc to sound like a guy when she moves.
And at 10 million SP, the skill system is still relevant to me.
Of course I'm also coming to Dust with 7 years off and on in EVE behind me and I understand that maybe a lot of others don't have that.
This isn't a themepark game like BF or CoD. It's part of a greater sandbox game. Personally, I think it would have helped them to delay launch for a year or two, get all the gear and vehicles in as well as a PvE system and have theplayer market ready from launch. However, we, and more importantly CCP, have to deal with the reality of the situation. The basic game is out, they're working on adding the rest of the core components and trying to keep the game balanced as best they can whilst doing it. Once all the basic gear is in, all the dropsuit types for each race for example, then they'll move onto the next part, imo either PvE or the Market. Once the game is up to it's full status and has been live on TQ alongside EVE for long enough to know it 's stable, that's when you should be evaluating it.

Once the game is up to it's full status and has been live on TQ alongside EVE for long enough to know it 's stable, that's when you should be evaluating it. I respect your opinion. "Battle sound" are not just gunfire and active noise. It's like...wind between trees, brid sound. Engine sound. Per example the giant pipelin, why not a light sound when your near of it ? Or a "charge up" sound coming from the Big orbital Cannon sometimes ? Sound of a spaceship. etcetc..... I respect opinion but if you "personnaly" don't want voices then i don't really see why you don't want them to happen. I mean they disturbing you : Disable (put volume of "voices" in option at 0) and it would be the same than before for you.
Wind and ambient noise from buildings and equipment I can understand, for wind between trees, we'll have to wait untill trees are implemented though. Birds and other animals however, we wouldn't hear them. With the noise from guns, tanks and dropships, birds will have flown off and animals would have run away or be hiding.
The charge up and spaceships sounds aren't something we would hear considering they're in space.
I don't really want voices to be included because it breaks the immersion more than it helps it. If every clone has the same voice, regardless of race or gender, never mind them actually being different people with different vocal patterns, that would just not be realistic. And there is already a system in place where your character can make comments, warn about grenades or snipers, or even issue commands. It's called voice chat. That way your clone even gets it's own unique voice as well. Why bother putting in a system that would be less immersive? I believe as systems get put in place which enable more than just one squad to join a match together, when each side can be made up entirely from a corp or alliance, comm discipline on voice will improve, just as in EVE fleets, when they're on an op, comms are for FC's and important information only.
