Yup. Definitely Dropsuit Command and Dropsuit Upgrades, but hoping Weaponry as well since certain roles like the Commando now provide bonuses for specific weapons, and new CPU/PG numbers so perhaps don't need as much Fitting Optimization, and stuff like that.

Not necessarily... Vehicle one was mandatory due to their complete reworking of the tree and rolling like 4 different module unlocks into one skill. With infantry it looks like straight up additions to current trees and changing of dropsuit bonuses, this would mean that a respec isn't mandatory. That said I certainly hope infantry does get a respec as its only fair... Just don't hold your breath because it doesn't look like the changes make one a given. |

I'm sure if vehicles still had individual skills for unlocking each vehicles race(like dropsuits do) then vehicle users would expect a respec when amarr/minmatar vehicles come out.
But still, any anti respec people have garbage opinions, let alone tankers. Some opinions are garbage, just as criminals aren't allowed to vote, as no one takes the KK.K's(thats censored even, oh the irony) opinions seriously, anti respec opinions are mostly garbage that don't deserve to be acknowledged.

Refunding Dropsuit Command but not Weaponry and Dropsuit Upgrades is like having a vehicle respec but without refunding Turrets or Modules.
WTF would be the point then? That's a direct F**k message to Minmatar and Amarr Assault users, who's playstyle revolves around the bonuses to weapons. You've removed their playstyle(s), so having a Dropsuit Command only respec would be near worthless.
Mr. Pothead was right. There are a lot of garbage opinions or respecs that don't deserve acknowledgement .

I haven't seen anything to suggest that any skills will be less relevant to the play style they are designed for, so I don't see any need for a respec.
If people can describe specific circumstances in which skills that were useful before are useless after the patch then I'd support partial-respec-by-petition for those situations.
If enough people have enough reasons to justify respecs then it would be easier to provide a more general respec and reduce the load on the GMs. That would be for CCP to decide though, and I think we're a long way from it.

Not giving a dropsuit respec would definitely make me mad.
I have saved up enough unallocated SP to go straight for my new suit but why should I have to spend so much time making up for the fact that they took so long to release all of the racial variants. I can not see any reason for a full respec but not doing it on dropsuits with these releases would seriously rain on a lot of peoples parades.
And to you guys that like to yell against respecs:
Give it a rest. I'm sure 90% of you took part in the first respec and now you get to feel high and mighty cause you no longer have as much of your SP stuck in useless skills as all the newbies. We are all in our bracket SP wise based on when we started and will never break out of those brackets thanks too the flawed SP system. Shut up and let people yell for full respecs that CCP will never give so that they can keep booster sales from dropping.

Vehicles had a complete overhaul including turrets/mods and the skill tree with removal or mods/skills and hulls
Not too mention we dont have all racial vehicles out
Infantry changes are big but in comparision to the vehicle changes they aint even in the same room but you will still get a dropsuit respec and maybe a possible equipment respec due to logi bonuses and possible weapons too due to commando/sentinal bonuses

I'd like to think so, even though I'm on the "NO RESPEC" team, I've always said when we get all the racial suits then we should get a Dropsuit tree refund.
I agree that a Dropsuit Upgrades tree refund seems logical too, but as for weapons, not sure.

So one more respec and everything will be perfect. until the next patch or if you make a mistake. then you want another? or.. what if they add an entire new class and you REALLY meant to be that class instead...
Combat and Rail rifle coming out and people saving and skilling into it, having one or both near maxed out first day with saved SP, should be more then enough of an example. CCP may tweak and balance and change anything depending on whims and what they feel may improve their game. The Skills points we invest and thus skills are our history in DUST. Some of us have maxed out alot of different aspect's of DUST that are no longer relevant to the same extent, never means they are useless or will never have use based on what changed them in the first place.
That is our history of our character, you want a character option that has close to no mistakes with skills? start a new one or start a separate PSN and use the knowledge and experience you have gained to build that perfect mercenary in his specialized role. But Respecializing King Checkmate? because you made mistakes allocating skills(We all did to some extent) the 8 months we haven't had racial variants in one aspect of DUST hasn't made the ISK and Skill points you acquired with those skills any less valueable. Nothing will be the same in DUST forever and there will always be new stuff comming out. We have more then enough time to get SP and everyone progress naturally there. Not respecialize your character every time something new and shinny comes out.

The combat rifle and rail rifle were new content.
The racial variants are variations of suits which we were forced to skill into the wrong ones due to incomplete design. This is totally different than a new weapon. I went level 4 in the rail rifle just to be able to use the assault variation and I am not asking for a respec on those points now that I am not a fan of it.
Is the SP invested in level 3 dropsuit command to unlock amarr heavies which is the only option for a heavy our fault? Was that my mistake or was I correct when I looked and saw that this was the only way to get a heavy? Maybe since dust is all about living with your decisions I should have just never played with anything other than a medium suit due to CCP not having the race I would like to play with. |

Oh like for instance, the Amarr assault suit now plays a complete diffrent role, like it has armor rep bonus vs scr bonusses, i find that quite a significan change...let alone it most likely gets a slot layout change AND shield/armor redistribution with diffrent stats to shield recharge.
If those are not enough, what is gonna be enough ? Everything is getting reworked, maybe it doesnt affect your performance, but it will affect mine or how i can play my suit to it benefits, i dont run reppers so for me the bonus it provides is completely irrelivant, hence i dont see why i would run a suit with only one bonus.

This.
Minmatar Logistics also lost it's hacking bonus.
I know a guy who specced into it solely because of that bonus. And if I remember aright, there are a few PLC users who've been shafted by skill changes once already, when Cal Assault lost its reload bonus, and now Gallente is going to lose its fitting bonus.
Basically, if the Amarr Assault has lost its bonus, I'm skilling into GalAssault and running a rail rifle. Or maybe just a Duvolle.

Yes there will most likely be a refund of the entire dropsuit command tree, but please refer to it as a refund as respec sounds like you get ALL of your skill points back, which will certainly not be the case.

But that is what people want.
Eg. A Commando with Combat Rifle and Mass Driver instead of a maxxed out AR
A Caldari Scout who can now invest less in precision because they get a direct bonus so they can put those points elsewhere to balance out their fit.
A Gallente scout that now doesnt have to invest in Armor repair because it is built in can skill something else up.
I think its only fair and is the last piece of the puzzle - Do the right thing CCP and announce it next week. - Only thing left will be people salivating for 1.8 release date.

To frame it in a different light it's like deciding to roll a priest in world of warcraft - they're healers (much like min logis are equipment users) but they've decided one patch that the healing is going to be more oriented towards damage prevention than it is towards restoration and utility spells. Essentially their function is the same but their methods are different - this doesn't entitle one necessarily to a class change partially because the changes don't mandate it like it would if they were removing warlocks from the game and partially because you signed off on the ToU that states 'things can change and you might not be happy with it'. People should have been speccing logi because of equipment not hacking speed and with all said and done the minmatar rep tool range and hp amounts are probably better than most other logi bonuses.
It might not be fair but nothing says they have to give one, even though there probably should be one. |

We are certainly not entitled but why should we be forced to invest more time and / or money due to incomplete content.
The races and their lore is one of the biggest factors in the game and a huge factor in the RPG aspect. To force people away from a primary concept of the game due to incomplete content means we may as well drop any idea of dust being any thing more than a FPS which there are plenty of games out there that out perform in that side of it all.
Full Respec = NOPE, I have skills in weapons that I put there on accident or put there before I learned to use aurum to test things before investing the most valuable thing in the game and would love to get them back but I am not and will not ask for those back as New Eden is most certainly about living with YOUR choices.

What does entitlement have to do with any of it? Besides which, this isn't just new content, it's the removal of old content.
You may say that skills aren't being removed, yet I don't see any "5% reduction to heat build up of laser weaponry per level" in the new content, yet I seem to remember skilling that up.

It's a semantic issue. Respec means respecialise, and that means being able to reallocate any amount of SP, not just all of it. All we need is to prefix "full" or "partial". That's all.

If they were to have changed the bonus from 5% hacking speed per level to 2% hacking speed per level then no, there would not need to be a respec as it still performs the same role. However, that is not the case, and the same can be said for every other dropsuit. They are all redesigned and fit very different roles. I'd count on the respec, but still it would be best to hear from CCP just in case.
That's a terrible analogy. The priest is still a damage mitigator, whereas the Min logi has gone from a role that benefits from speed & stealth, to one needing to tank & move in a group. The Minmatar suit was never an "equipment user", that was specifically the Gallente's role. The reshuffling of the hacking & equipment use bonuses illustrates how CCP have deliberately changed the roles of the suits, not just rebalanced them.

I don't think efforts to counter FOTM are any more of a valid respec argument than picking FOTM itself.

For CCP they have their own little law for themselves. If they completely remove or change a skill they have to refund the sp. However to what point the skill was changed and if the change is considered significant enough is loose.

It's more like you rolled a paladin, picked some nice feats, skills and gear, and your DM is like 'nup, sorry, you're now a healer instead. And no, you don't get to pick something else that's in line with what you actually wanted.'
If ever I had a DM like that, well, God in his great and bountiful wisdom gave us doors for a reason.

If we get a respec then either do a full respec or don't do one at all. What's the sense in doing a partial respec everytime something New happens? People should be able to change their minds and tactics. And considering the type of people we have playing this game, we could use a respec.
The CR and RR are racial weapon variants of the AR. I however had to use the AR in order to have a proper rifle until my racial one was released. I want my AR points back. Ditto heavy suit. I don't want points back I've spent on the newly released stuff, I want my points back from the stuff I had to specc into to stay viable until all of the stuff I wanted to specc into was made available. The point isn't to clear up regretted decisions, that is a by-product. The point is to allow people to spend their skill points how they would have from the beginning if all the racial variants had been available from the start.

Really does have to be the last ever, ever, ever respec (maybe until you can pay to respec, but different argument)
CCP needs to make sure all the playerbase is informed if this is the way to go, no need for anymore respec's if we get one. Maybe we only really need the dropsuit skill tree respec especially as the SP event is coming up.
Devils Advocate - we have no time set for the release of 1.8 at the moment so there is plenty of time to be saving SP only impatience is going to mess that up.

Yeah because running one query on the database to reset our SP takes longer then 5 minutes of their time eh ?
