. . . right?
These changes are arguably even more significant than those made to vehicles.

Johnny Guilt wrote:Id love to have one But we as players arent entiltied to one by the devs, seeing as they arent removeing any skills from the game and this isnt beta anymore. We all know the new suits are coming soon and we have enough time to save SP enough to get proto day one,why should CCP waste their time on respec when they can just do a SP event like they always do around big patches.
What does entitlement have to do with any of it? Besides which, this isn't just new content, it's the removal of old content.
You may say that skills aren't being removed, yet I don't see any "5% reduction to heat build up of laser weaponry per level" in the new content, yet I seem to remember skilling that up.

I-Shayz-I wrote:Please stop calling it a respec...
CCP has already stated in the past that they want to make the distinction between a full "respec" of your skillpoints, and a "refund" of certain skills that have been changed.
Yes there will most likely be a refund of the entire dropsuit command tree, but please refer to it as a refund as respec sounds like you get ALL of your skill points back, which will certainly not be the case.
It's a semantic issue. Respec means respecialise, and that means being able to reallocate any amount of SP, not just all of it. All we need is to prefix "full" or "partial". That's all.

MINA Longstrike wrote:Aero Yassavi wrote:MINA Longstrike wrote:Not necessarily... Vehicle one was mandatory due to their complete reworking of the tree and rolling like 4 different module unlocks into one skill. With infantry it looks like straight up additions to current trees and changing of dropsuit bonuses, this would mean that a respec isn't mandatory. That said I certainly hope infantry does get a respec as its only fair... Just don't hold your breath because it doesn't look like the changes make one a given. They completely changed the function of certain suits. For instance, Minmatar Logis are no longer hacking logis but rep logis. If they were to have changed the bonus from 5% hacking speed per level to 2% hacking speed per level then no, there would not need to be a respec as it still performs the same role. However, that is not the case, and the same can be said for every other dropsuit. They are all redesigned and fit very different roles. I'd count on the respec, but still it would be best to hear from CCP just in case. To frame it in a different light it's like deciding to roll a priest in world of warcraft - they're healers (much like min logis are equipment users) but they've decided one patch that the healing is going to be more oriented towards damage prevention than it is towards restoration and utility spells. Essentially their function is the same but their methods are different - this doesn't entitle one necessarily to a class change partially because the changes don't mandate it like it would if they were removing warlocks from the game and partially because you signed off on the ToU that states 'things can change and you might not be happy with it'. People should have been speccing logi because of equipment not hacking speed and with all said and done the minmatar rep tool range and hp amounts are probably better than most other logi bonuses. It might not be fair but nothing says they have to give one, even though there probably should be one.
That's a terrible analogy. The priest is still a damage mitigator, whereas the Min logi has gone from a role that benefits from speed & stealth, to one needing to tank & move in a group. The Minmatar suit was never an "equipment user", that was specifically the Gallente's role. The reshuffling of the hacking & equipment use bonuses illustrates how CCP have deliberately changed the roles of the suits, not just rebalanced them.

Some would like to use the weapons of their race instead of using weapons that they were forced to speck into out of necessity and a lack of want. Now since suits and a base of racial weapons are available to finally fulfill the roles , suits and weapons should be reallocated.
I don't think efforts to counter FOTM are any more of a valid respec argument than picking FOTM itself.
