Going by EVE standards, ships are very limited in what they can do while cloaked, so I'd assume DUST will be fairly the same (but still good for sneaking up and then decloak and cut you)

Unless cloaks cost too much fitting to also fit a Thales an damage mods and dampeners. Just saying, we don't really know.
This is another very important point. CCP Remnant pointed out in his interview in the Dev Blog that cloaking equipment will likely have very-high CPU/PG requirements while scouts get a bonus for fitting specifically this item.

So maaaybe: Amarr scout - bonus to reactivation time of cloak Caldari scout - bonus to decloaking time (after switching off, switch to weapon) Gallente scout - bonus to invisibility (less distortion, shimmer while moving, running, taking fire) Minmatar scout - sucks at cloaks lol We already know the actual scout bonuses.
Scout - 10% reduction to CPU/PG cloak cost Amarr - 5% reduction to cloak cooldown time Caldari - 5% reduction to firing cloak cost Gallente - 5% increase to scan radius, 5% profile reduction Minmatar - 5% increase to melee and nova knife damage
For that Caldari, this means that the implied cloaking time is effected LESS by firing. This would mean that the cloak does not instantly drop upon firing a weapon, but likely suffers a significant decrease in the time it is active. Supposedly, this means that there will be a meter that ticks down upon cloaking, and firing a weapon causes a chunk of that meter to disappear (25% less for a lv5 Cal Scout). Hopefully it will just be enough buy you a few extra seconds after a SG or NK to either get a finishing blow or GTFO.
Only the Gallente Scout gets a reduction to scan profile, considering it also has the most lows, that means it will likely be the only scout that can viably avoid scans. This is balanced by the fact that it is slower than the Minmatar and does not get an extra cloaking bonus.
The minmatar can stab people, but it can't cloak very well nor will it likely be able to avoid scans very well. Combine that with its anemic CPU/PG (unless that changes), and you have a NK/melee suit that is lacking in everything needed to actually get close undetected. No idea what they were thinking with that. |

You can't really compare the two, considering TF2 has the Pyro, whose primary job it is to spray the surrounding area with a flamethrower that instantly reveals and will likely kill any enemy Spy.
That, and because Dust is a FPS, while TF2 is clearly a Hat Simulator. |

You cloak. The amount of "shimmer" is increased as you move so standing still you will be nigh invisible, but when moving you will be noticeable to an extent. When cloaked, you obviously have no chevron or health bars, but the enemy reticule will flash red if you run past it. no need for pyro |

Dust revolves around a system of customized fitting for individual playstyles within archetypes (each dropsuit has many possible roles and objectives). TF2 is based off checks and class counters between predefined roles (ie Pyro counters Spy w/ flamethrower/Demoman counters Engineer by destroying structures), and also the display, creation, and trading of obnoxious headgear and accessories. |

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....
you've never played as a spy you've never played tf2 you've never played as a spy in tf2
There is shimmer, there is shimmer for 1.5sec after cloaking, there is a very slight less pronounced shimmer when moving, there is shimmer when you collide with another player, there is shimmer when taking any kind of damage, there is shimmer when getting heals(from friendly medic), there is shimmer when stealing heals(from enemy dispenser).
Edit: Oh silly me, there is shimmer when the spy is Jarateed, there is shimmer when set on FIRE
Needless to say there is shimmer.
When invisible you can't take any action whatsoever apart from changing your disguise and decloaking.
You're confusing disguising with cloaking. |

To be honest with you guys, I'm ok with either restricting the shooting to AFTER decloaking or to causing the cloak to deactivate when firing a weapon. This is because of my years experience playing in games like HALO where cloak is plentiful but not OP.
In Halo...
1. Your cloak has an active timer meaning you can't cloak forever. 2. Once the active timer runs out, you suffer a cool down timer. 3. Firing the weapon decloaks you momentarily. 4. The cloak emits a series of random dots on the radar given people around you an idea that someone is nearby. Just spray-n-pray in their general direction to try to decloak them (the Promethean Suppressor Rifle is good at this in Halo 4). 5. Bullets trails reveal your position. 6. Promethean Vision in Halo 4 negates the use of the cloak.
Although to be honest, I found the cloak to be completely and utterly useless in Halo 4 once they introduced Promethean Vision which basically turns your cloaked body into a bright silhouette for the enemy to see. Also, the random dots emitted on the radar didn't help either since anyone with a suppressor rifle can just spray in your general direction and cause your cloak to shimmer which then let's everyone know EXACT where you are. Pretty lame.
OK, CCP. When are knives finally going to be improved?

Actually, it makes sense to let the Gallente Scout have that bonus because the Gal Scout is best made for evasion and intel gathering. But I do agree that the Minmatar does need something for the cloak. Perhaps a fitting bonus at least.

1. Them proto scanners will pick them up for sure if they are NOT wearing Gallente Scout Gk.0 with all four complex profile damps. Considering snipers rely heavily on having lots of high-slots, the Gallente scout won't be something redline snipers would even look at. 2. If they are in FW, teamkillers will deal with them. In thread about cloaking, has comment about when will knives be improved. I think your talking about the wrong things in this, rather ask for knives to not drain cloak energy and you will be happy. Last place they ever check. If I ever get sniped by you now I know exactly where to look. If I ever snipe you, I'll make sure to do it from either my red line, or perched on top of your head somehow.
